Someone already made a "bring back dueling" thread but they suggested swords which is dumb. I say we bring back good ol pistols at dawn. "Oh but guns are so advanced nowadays it's almost guaranteed death" ok fuck you flintlock pistols still exist just call them dueling guns and the problem is solved "oh but dueling is so barbaric and backwards" I guarantee you the pedos in congress would back down if they had to put their lives behind their beliefs. If that's not civilized, what is?

Trying to regulate flintlock dueling pistols so that they're "shitty but in a fair way" will be just as impossible as the ATF regulating what makes a firearm a rifle vs a pistol. It is a pointless task.
You know that if there was any amount of popularity with dueling with pistols that there would be faggots who would get custom made braces of them that are minmaxed to be as effective as possible.

If you're going to allow firearms then don't be a pussy about it and just let the person who was challenged to a duel pick whatever suits them best.

Former Pres. Andrew Jackson murdered a man by violating the rules of the duel. His first shot misfired, making it his opponent's turn. Killer Andy immediately shot again. Everyone knew he had broken something deeper than law: honor. Andy murdered honor that day.

Duelling requires honor and Americans are a wretched and dishonorable race.

That's true, but shouldn't we fight to bring honor back to society? The honorable may suffer at the hands of dishonorable, but the solution seems simple. Breaking the rules of the duel is punishable by death. I'm sure there's more nuance to it than that but it feels like a good solution to me.

Mutual combat laws do exist in certain places. Phoenix Jones made a whole YouTube career out of it.

I suppose it's possible you could make a case. It would be a legal nightmare though in our sue happy society.

That's gay. If we're going to go back to dueling, I say we embrace the modern age. Duels should be carried out with nothing less than a sniper rifle that uses .50 BMG cartridges and the duel is carried out 1 mile apart.

Can only use double action only revolvers so there's a garunteed 12~15 lb trigger pull.

NYC cops have got like a 12lb trigger on their guns and can't hit shit since they don't practice.

But they still have to pace the whole distance back to back.

If you use flintlocks then it doesn't matter, muzzleloaders like that are 'antique firearms' to the ATF and there's no restrictions, they're not 'firearms'. SBR, stocked pistol, order it direct to your door, possession if you're a felon, what the fuck ever go for it. (Almost)

Breaking the rules of a duel is murder, so it was already against the law, but nobody dared punish Andy because he was the big man in his community with powerful charisma that would later make him President. Vigilante justice, including duelling, will necessarily lead to such outcomes because the only underlying principle is that might makes right.

.22LR smoothbore with a 2" barrel, no sights, and a 20 round magazine (kinda like a Pez dispenser). Maybe you die, maybe you don't, but it's almost certainly going to hurt...and be funny to watch. You've got to be pretty butt-hurt about your honor to want to play.

In this imaginary scenario where we are making a new (imaginary) federal law to allow dueling with firearms legal across the nation (as a thought experiment) with the caveat that you can only use flintlock muzzleloading pistols then the ATF would absolutely be summoned from the 8th circle of hell (literally where they come from) to regulate this new (old) firearm.

Writing that out it makes me wonder if there were laws passed to strategically require new regulations in weird edge cases like this where there was long standing rules that couldn't be easily changed. I could absolutely see a retarded congressman try to pass dueling regulation in order to crack down on flintlock pistols.

Or, hear me out, we use automatic shotguns. Duels would be a lot cooler if people just eviscerated each other with spas-12s

Say you challanged your favorite politician to a duel over whatever issue, what happens if they decline?

The deal always was "you can decline but then you're a fucking pussy and/or admitting your opponent is correct". These days that's no barrier.
