Vs gets stale since you can have a broken run without fail in 5 minutes every single time while in 'tato the item rng is humble enough not to completely fuck you over but feels really rewarding if you happen to get a broken, overpowered run. Shotgun best weapon btw and that's not up for debate

Never actually played it, but I've watched a ton of it. It's a good stream game, and with the right streamer is a lot of fun content-wise.

I'll admit, Brotato does manage to balance out the power fantasy by making you work for it, while VS relies more on content bloat to dilute the level-up tables. At least the Ode to Castlevania DLC will also come with the option to wall off whole DLCs if need be.
