How about giving the thread a more descriptive title like "archive.md vs. The World"

Really there are only a few topics that are relevant:
- archive.md's ongoing slapfight with Brave
- archive.md's ongoing slapfight with Cloudflare and possibly some other DNS providers
- Tips/workarounds for people having problems using archive.md
- Discussion of alternatives to archive.md and the future of how we do archiving here on KF

Does archive.is block Brave solely based off of the useragent?
If so, its not that hard to simply spoof the agent, making this exceptional fit that much more exceptional.

That github thread about Brave and archive.is was a hoot. Dude put a redirect on his site to send all Brave users to his github issue page as a half-assed attempt to muster a personal army, then started shrieking about “THEY’RE BANNING HALF THE WORLD AND STEALING MONEY” and doubling down again and again.

From what I'm gathering the Archive guy is from Russia and complaining because Brave team is doing additional checks to make sure his abnormal behavior is not someone trying to steal a BAT balance. I'm not sure where the "racist crypto" is coming from.

The US gets handled differently because there are electronic fraud laws on the books and law enforcement organizations that will investigate and attempt to prosecute.


I dumped Chrome about two years ago, less because it was feeding my info to google and more because Google makes arbitrary decisions about what features and plugins you should and shouldn't use and provides no mechanism to alter the behavior.
(I don't give a fuck my internal Self-signed certs are self-signed and its an IP address, all I want is encryption not authentication. I also don't care about their expiration.)

All web browsers are shit.
This archive.md shit should be eye-opening. If this random website can identify the browser you're using, then your privacy is shit. No website should ever be able to know this, and even better is if you spoof the relevant information to make them think its Chrome or regular FF.

I don't care how pozzed it is, you'll have to pry Firefox from my cold dead hands.

BTW I've never trusted Brave. When something/someone has to go out of their way to bash a "we're the good guys!" narrative over the public's head, chances are they're anything but.
