There's actually a Wikipedia page on this. It's a pretty common fetish, especially among people who already have fetishes involving...weight gain and stomach inflation. Remind you of anyone?
There's also your usual armchair psychologist theory that the belly button is a "safer" version of the vagina for autists who can't comprehend the thought of having sex with a woman, but I don't know enough about Bryce to put any stock in it.

What order do you even read the dialog bubbles in that first comic?

Even without the subject matter, you can tell Bryce lacks a theory of mind as he knows what order to read them in, and so he expects the viewer to as well. Even CWC showed more theory of mind when he indicated the dialog order in that aping of Monty Python in Sonichu.

This was tacked onto the end of the text about the red light district in Japan. I honestly have no idea where to go with this since, even by Bryce's standards, this is a curve-ball.
