But what are your thoughts on yaoi?

Context for the thread title

I've seen a few fujos while perusing the farms and thought it would be interesting to get other female farmers' input on this topic. Do you love it? Hate it? What's the appeal/unappeal for you?

If you're a fan, here are a few questions I like asking of my fujo friends:
  1. How do you identify? Fujoshi, BL fan, yaoi fan, etc.
  2. What's your sexuality?
  3. How do you consume yaoi? Do you like anime, manga, fanfic, novels, wuxian?
  4. Do you self insert as one of the characters? If so, is it usually with the top or the bottom?
  5. Do you like the uke/seme dynamic?
  6. Thoughts on Omegaverse?
  7. How old were you when you started being a fujo? Alternatively, how long have you been a fujo?
  8. Do you ship real people (RPF)?
  9. What do you think is the appeal for you?
  10. What are your favorite tropes?
  11. Are you ashamed of it?
  12. Do you have an OTP?
  13. Which type of fujoshi are you:

If you hate it:
  1. Why?
  2. Do you think fujoshi are degenerates?
  3. Do you think it's homophobic?
  4. Have you ever consumed any yaoi/BL media?
  5. Do you know any fujos IRL?
  6. How old were you when you first discovered yaoi?
Feel free to post your autistic rant on why we're destroying western society.

Are we counting MtFs as female for this
I was thinking about Japanese statistics I've seen somewhere so no.

Or maybe I'm basing it on my own observation on authors. You can see a lot of female authors in yuri field and a lot of yuri art is made by female artists on twitter. Women have their specific artstyle usually, once you notice it, you can guess when it's made by them.

Absolutely not.

It's all rapey trash that typically doesn't play out any differently from a straight couple's antics, but yet it's "less problematic" when it's a dude raping a twink.
This is an argument I see all the time. I'm not, and know many other women, who are not into the rape thing. There is a lot of hyperromantic, tooth rottingly sweet content out there.

I miss when girls could be weird online without having to jump through hoops like pretending to be gay men. I don't care about yaoi, or shipping in general, but I found some of those twitter memes about it funny. I thought they were made by other women, but of course, *all* of them were by tifs. i shouldn't have been surprised but i still was *sigh*

I wonder about how Japan popularized faggot shit way before America, and yet seems to have "declined" less, for lack of a better word? Or perhaps not in the same direction/severity. Probably I'm missing something but it seems like there's a cultural difference or something that allows japs to consume this faggot media but disallow it from leaking into their everyday actions/identity/etc. Meanwhile you read some gay shit as a mutt and then less than 5 years later you're a tranny. Is it part of their "honor" autism? Because they recognize (rightly) that homosexuality is not normal, and seek to oppress it almost unconsciously as a result? I wonder.

I don't really see the appeal of it but I do understand why there is an audience for it, because its just women
drooling over two pretty boys kissing, the same way dudes drool over lesbos making out.

But in my personal opinion, despite fujoshis being weirdos most of the time, they're pretty much contained
in their own little spaces with only the worst kind being the ones you find on tumblr or twitter. Meanwhile yurifags
are extremely insufferable no matter where you go.

Japanese consider manga/anime/2d as pure fiction and entertainment. They treat yuri/yaoi in the same way they treat lolicon basically, separating it from real life. Most of consumers of it are straight people who just have a kink. While americans think these genres are some sort of "queer media" or whatever, treating it as a message for gay rights and if you like it you're 100% part of the LGBTQ++ gang. Japs just don't care. I don't think they're suppressing anything, it's vice versa in fact, they just let their vile fantasies go in the form of manga and then forget about it.
