Buzzheavier.com is an anonymous file upload website where it allows you to upload anything (with exceptions, of course) with an unlimited file size limit. Today, I tried using the website to upload some VODs I had downloaded but it was down all day until I discovered their Announcements page.

Buzzheavier Security Update (Archive)

TL;DR

  1. A large volume of child porn was recently uploaded to leading to an investigation and seizure of proxy servers by authorities.
  2. Our storage provider has also placed our account on hold.
  3. You can't access old buzzheavier files until the storage provider removes account hold.
  4. I am not able to access my account? - You can use your account id to log in at our mirror site trashbytes.net, but you won't be able to access the files until the matter is not resolved

Overview of How BuzzHeavier Works

BuzzHeavier prioritizes user privacy by employing multiple layers of security, including proxy servers to protect user identities.

Account Security and File Handling

1. Account Security:

When a user signs up, only a hashed version of their account ID is stored in our database, ensuring the actual ID remains private unless reset. And that hash used to encrypt/decrypt all the files on raw storage

2. File Upload Process:

  1. Users request an upload through our server.
  2. The server retrieves the account ID hash from AWS RDS.
  3. Files are encrypted using the account ID hash plus an internal secret key.
  4. Files are then stored securely with a third-party storage provider.

3. File Download Process:

  1. Users initiate a download request.
  2. The server fetches the account ID hash linked to the file, retrieves it, and decrypts it with the account id hash + secret key.

Secret Key Security Protocol

Our encryption keys are stored with strict protocols:
  1. We build binaries on a secure local machine and deploy to our proxy servers.
  2. After the proxy starts, the binary is deleted.
  3. Our encryption secret is stored with an offshore provider, which only Buzzheavier can decrypt.
  4. Each proxy startup retrieves and decrypts the secret key before it’s used for file encryption/decryption.

Entities Involved in BuzzHeavier’s Operations

  • Cloudflare: Access was granted to law enforcement, but Cloudflare has no direct data.
  • Proxy Servers: Access was obtained by law enforcement, but no sensitive data is retrievable.
  • Storage Provider: No direct access by law enforcement, though the account is currently on hold.
  • AWS RDS: Law enforcement is attempting access but is restricted to hashed data.
  • Secret Provider: Location undisclosed; we’re actively securing this information.

Event Timeline

  1. Oct 31 - Nov 3: Approximately 9TB of illegal content was uploaded.
  2. These files were reported to the authorities.
  3. Authorities began monitoring our servers and services.
  4. Received notice from the storage provider that our account was on hold.
  5. Shortly afterward, we received a notification from our proxy provider.

Moving Forward and Future of BuzzHeavier

Buzzheavier is fully cooperating with authorities to resolve this matter while prioritizing user privacy. Here’s what we’re implementing moving forward:
  • File Retention Policy: Files will be deleted after 30 days of inactivity for user safety. If you wish to retain files longer, please contact us directly on Discord.
  • Improved Storage Provider: We’ve switched to a new storage provider with significantly faster upload and download speeds.
  • Full Platform API Support: A complete API for the platform will be available within the next week.
  • Subdirectory and Clone Mount Support: Enhanced file organization with subdirectories and support for mounting via clone will be available in approximately two weeks.
We’ll continue to keep you updated as we make further progress. Thank you for your understanding and support.

That's disgusting, I hope the feds that did this are prosecuted to the full extent of the law

>9TB
How in the sweet ever-loving Jesus fuck
If memory serves, a CP bust counts everything associated with the content as part of it (i.e, if you had a hundred megabytes of CSAM on your hard drive and 500 gigs of games and documents, it would count as 500 gigs of CSAM). No details yet obviously, but it wouldn't surprise me if the bulk was just general disturbing/disgusting material

sill though, 9TB of anything is still a staggering amount of data

except for dank memes. i wouldn't mind 9TB of dank memes

I was about to say, the only people who would have 9TBs of csam would likely be the feds themselves. I guess your explanation makes sense, in a way. But I wounder why they count it as that. Is just to make seem worse for the court? As if 1mb would be any better.

That would imply that they accidentally uploaded a bunch of csam with a bunch of games or whatever and I don't buy that for a second. Unless it was Vaush.

Why is it every time I hear about someone getting busted for CP, it's always that they have a fucking absurd amount. It's not just "this person has a few videos for them to get off to. This person has a few shame pics." It's always fucking terabytes.

I mean, I guess it reads better as a headline. I remember a story a few years ago where a guy was arrested for having hundreds of pounds worth of it. And I don't mean that in a "he paid hundreds of British Pounds" for the videos. I mean he printed out and kept physical copies of it that weighed up to a few hundred pounds worth.

Wild shit, man.

It might've been Daniel Larson (but i know i've heard other people) who said he had 20MB of child porn, not sure why but I guess it's better than having terabytes of it???????

I mean, no matter what, still horrible but I guess a breath of fresh air rather than owning hard drives of it.

I wouldn't say it's better. Any amount at all is horrific. But just the absolute absurd levels that gets me. I wonder if Larson ever got charged for any when he was arrested. That's something I'll have to ask that thread later.

He wasn't arrested for owning any CSAM. I believe he was just saying the shit because he was trolled into it. I believe his federal charges are only related to fedposting IRL.

I hope these fuckers got banned.

The fact not only somebody uploaded 9 terabytes of it, but the fact there's enough out there to accumulate 9TB. What a blackpill thought.
Also possible to upload the same uncompressed video over and over which is, at least, a less horrific thought.
Still fucking hate the fact that we live in a world where "weaponized child porn" is an actual thing. :lossmanjack:
