Calais burns.

The French port of Calais, mostly known for being the port that serves ferries crossing the English Channel has had one of it's worst days in years, as dock workers take part in the French national past time of striking, whilst migrants take advantage of the slow moving traffic by ramping up attempts to get into the UK. The Deputy Mayor of Calais is of course blaming everyone else but himself as he usually does, and UKIP just gained another 3 million votes.

So any thoughts on what needs to be done Kiwis?

I don't think it is. They're using burning tires to block roads, but no buildings are on fire.

Yet. I can only see bad things on the horizon for this place anyway, many Britons are already avoiding Calais because of this, and tensions just rise and rise.

I went through Calais once on the way to eurodisney. Twice I guess if you count coming back. It looked like total shit as I recall so I doubt some fire made much of a difference.
