This was actually attempted in Latin America, mostly by the Spanish but also a bit by the Portuguese. Today most Americans do not consider any Latin Americans to be White, regardless of their genetic background. Is that accurate? Personally, I think race is mostly a genetic concept, but secondary cultural factors play some influence. I don't consider a "wigger" to be White, for example. With proper cultural integration some kind of racial dilution scheme might technically be possible, but these things have a long history of failing, and there's nowhere near the popular support for them today that there was 100-300 years ago.

thats because by white we mean teutonic white, basically the english-german and other northern european countries. those mediterrian types, despite their skin tone have cultural values completely opposite of whites, and while we might not consider Mexicans to be white, i am pretty sure most anglo or germanic descended whites would 100% agree that a Latino from El Salvador and an italian are very similar.
