Can you eat wood if you cook it first?

Gotta build up a tolerance first.

The wood of the yacaratiá tree is served as a delicacy in Argentinian restaurants. The wood is soaked in honey or syrup and is also available in chocolate bonbons or in flavored jams with sawdust. The wood is soft and fibrous and the taste has been compared to chestnuts.[2]

Although most wood is indigestible to humans due to the high lignin content, the yacaratiá tree is only around 10% cellulose while the rest is mostly water with very little lignin content. Unlike most plants, cells of this tree contain large spaces within their walls which store water.

Why would you want to? I mean if you were absolutely starving, I've heard you can eat some of the pulp under the bark but I'd spend my time trying to catch a fish or find some real food before doing that. In modern day America there are food banks and shit everywhere I cant see anyone starving here that puts the tiny amount of effort into it

Hey if you wanna eat tree bark go right head thats the joy of living in America you can do just about anything you want. And I told you already if you really need to eat tree bark to survive you want to cut the bark off and throw it away and get the pulp under it that has a small amount of nutrients in it. I hear there is some tree barks in other countries that they boil to make a tea also

Iirc birch juice (literally just birch sap) is quite popular with slavs and in the baltic region.
But you wouldn't drink a tree like you would download a house, would you?
