Totally depends on the nature of the cow.

Someone like Cyraxx or Daniel Larsen could not because they are deranged and physically deformed.

If DSP went to therapy and got off the internet then yeah everyone would probably mostly forget about him in a few years and he could live a normal life.

Andrew Dobson disappeared, so apparently he was able to control his sperging enough.

Greer could stop being a lolcow if he fixed his desire to be on the Internet chasing cheap whores.

Rick could stop by not replying to anyone.

But in reality, being a lolcow is deep in your personality and you usually can't get into that position without significant work, which makes it even harder to get out of.

Depending on the lolcow yes they can recover and live a normal life, being redeemed or not is a different conversation, if a lolcow did wicked things or committed a crime then they can improve but they will never atone for what they did, even if they become the best people in the world, even though being the best person in the world would be desirable you don't come back from brutalizing animals, being a scammer, etc.; DarkSydePhil could change and live a normal life in a few years when everyone forgets about him as @Cherry Dude said, but it's also part of their personality to be like this as it was said previously too, for example, DSP talked many years ago about how he cried during the Scrooge movie and how he wants a redemption arc just like in said movie, and when he described how he would redeem himself he said that everyone would realize that all the things said about him are slander, people would think he is cool from then on and will come to his streams to give him money, a person like that cannot change.

I read somewhere on this forum that there was a youtuber who was on a weight loss journey and he became a lolcow because the meals that he cooked where the most disgusting, fat filled, unhealthy garbage you could think of, eventually he learned from his mistakes, he lost the weight and stopped being a lolcow, but can most cows change their behavior? I would say no, they built their own cage and won't open it with the key right next to them, because the cage is comfortable.

It is speculated that his family told him to stop so he deleted his accounts. It is more than possible that he is still somewhere under a different alias.

It depends on the individual, what they did to become a lolcow, and just how deep down that rabbit hole they've gone.

Early on, provided that no one's been seriously harmed and they haven't done anything criminal or utterly degenerate, most lolcows can keep a low profile for awhile and be totally forgotten after a few months without anything new for people to discuss. If you're the sort of person who becomes a lolcow in the first place then it might be hard to avoid relapsing into old behavior, but if you can do that then you're probably going to fade right back into obscurity.

For people who become lolcows because they've done something that people find reprehensible or who have been lolcows for a longer time period, though, the outlook is a lot worse. It's a little better for those who have just behaved themselves in a terminally online way for years, because their problem is usually going to be limited to the Internet. If they can ever recognize the issues that made them "famous", then it's still possible for them to sacrifice their old accounts, drastically decrease their online footprint, change their contact information if they've been doxed, and avoid further direct trolling through anonymity. Their reputation might be shot and they might not be able to use social media with an identifiable profile for years, but it's still better than the alternative.

For those who have done something that most people would consider seriously wrong (which, being realistic, most lolcows will eventually), there are usually going to be real world consequences at some point. If what they've done is criminal, that could mean jail time and a possible felony charge. Even if it isn't, their employer will probably find out about it and drop them eventually, and their name is going to pop up with information about their actions everytime an interviewer looks them up for a job opportunity. Same for anyone they meet in real life, whether that's a friend or possible romantic partner. Googling them will reveal the time they boiled a kitten, assaulted an old woman, etc.

Absolutely. Mr. Enter is the first that comes to mind for me. Someone who was seen as a giant sperg who got mad over cartoons not having good morals toned himself down significantly and improved on his life after he went through some huge hardships and a couple scandals. And what do you know people started cheering him on after he filed a lawsuit against his former troon editor who ran a grooming Discord. Now among those who watch cartoon reviewers he’s seen as one of the more level-headed ones. How the tables have turned.

Another example is Mariotehplumber. He first came on the scene years ago for his massive hate boner for Rosalina from Mario, then would pop up again with a whole new persona. For five years, he would LARP as a mute, severely autistic man madly in love with the Pokemon protagonist Leaf under the persona PreciousLeaf. It wouldn’t be until last year when Kiwi sleuths would discover that MTP was the one behind one of the greatest, most elaborate troll LARPs in recent memory. After the fallout of the LARP, he would settle in with his wife (who actually joined in the LARP later on) and has kept mostly a low profile since.

Any cow that is a cow due to being a bit of an ass or just making an ass of themselves can redeem themselves. The ones that are crazy or just blatantly horrible people can't redeem themselves. Chris, for instance, is both of those and will be a cow until the day he dies.

With a few years of radiation therapy, anyone can be cured of this horrid affliction.

LOLCOWs aren’t randomly picked, they are vetted born losers - not just people that are self destructive. Once you’re a LOLCOW on this site it’s a permanent tattoo of your existence for life. There is no cure, change is not possible. You don’t make the grade unless you’re a guaranteed cow.

Abandon all hope for those thus labeled.

Minor cows, maybe. I don't think many people featured here are strictly cows and fall under more general e-drama that is entertaining, but not especially or consistently luzly. Short of quitting the internet, anyone who hasn't done anything irredeemable just has to shut up and contribute some kind of value or entertainment without unintentionally being a total retard in the process.

Look at "cancelled" artists and entertainers. or faggy e-celebs who are neither, who still maintain a following and make money following their retarded responses to retarded controversy, but don't do anything provocative or notable after that. Some produce milk only diehards will drink. I think it helps if one didn't start as a lolcow.

The bar is low to get a thread, but to get one over 300 pages takes something special. There are cows and there are Cows.

Recovering from a Lolcow means learning your mistakes, and that will require self awareness, something that makes a Lolcow. You can, but that means requiring to look at yourself in the mirror and say "I fucked up, I will never do what I did to get myself here again," so there is a chance, it's just very slim.

Depends on a cow. Like tell me, can Chris get a normal job and live normal life? Can DSP stop streaming games and move to something else? Can Ethan Ralph go sober and apologize to everyone he wronged in his lifetime? It is possible, but in the same vein as all the oxygen in your room suddenly moving into upper corner making you suffocate. Theoretically it may happen, but it is highly unlikely.

Yeah sure, a relatively obscure lolcow can change his/her ways, so long as they don't have any severe mental illnesses, and can resist sperging out about their trolls/kiwi farms and avoid drama in general.

Yes, most lolcows could stop being lolcows at a moments notice. They just don't.

Patrick Tomlinson could stop tweeting and responding, and he would become a normie very quickly. But will he? Almost certainly not.

the only real cure for a lolcow is simply death the internet never forgets and it all just takes is one simple push to make them lose it.

This is an interesting question I actually find the lolcows who look like they might recover more interesting than the one who are so far gone there is nothing they can/will do.

Lolcows exist in a state where the benefits of escaping their plights are less than the pain it would cause in the short term. It is really hard to escape that.

On a side note I think it would incredibly interesting to find people who did similar things to lolcows, but who actually recovered and to note the differences and similarities.
