Can you upgrade the glass dome of a flush ceiling light fixture?

I have several of those standard flush glass dome ceiling fixtures. The "ceiling titty" lights that look like this:

They are perfectly fine as far as light fixtures go, which is why I'm not really motivated to rip them out entirely and install something that I'd have to dust. To this non-expert, it seems like you should be able to just buy a new glass dome and fancy it up, doesn't it? Stained glass would be neat but even tinted or that thing where they have leaf shadows.

I don't know any of the vocabulary here, so that might be why my searches aren't turning anything up besides the occasional frosted white replacement. Is this just not an option?

Solution
yes. if you definitely have the domes with a nipple you undo that and there's a threaded rod it screws into.
you usually just buy new lights & fuck the rest off & just use the cover. they're all a pretty standard size
