Bug Report Can't quote some posts

Edit: @Bender found out you can't quote posts longer than 1,008 characters here. Blame the admin.

Odd curiosity lately, but I can't quote some posts. For instance, this one.



I thought it had something to do with images or archives, but I can quote this post.



And, on the contrary, I can't quote this post which only has text.



Looking for a theme, it also isn't consistent with posts which have quotes already in them like the above examples, as I can quote this post which has a quote.



Is there some sort of text limit on quotes or something, now? I've seen other users complaining about the same issue.

Seeing the same behavior. Happens most on long posts, but seen it on short ones, too. It seems to affect most posts from a random selection of users that's stable in a given thread, but isn't consistent across the site. I.e. I'll have problems quoting most posts from User XYZ in the thread "Cute Kittens", but I can quote him ok over in "Tranny Nightmares". Weirdly, it occasionally will let me quote some posts from a guy in a thread, but not other posts from the same user in the exact same thread. Logging out and back in doesn't help, nor does switching between .net, .ru, etc.

I'm pointing out this bug so I can specifically avoid having to manually copy and paste everything I want to quote. I don't need to be reminded on how to do it.

Same here. In another thread I was noticing that I couldn't quote/reply certain posts, thought it was specific users, but I just saw a page where I couldn't quote/reply a user's post at the top of a page, but could quote a second post on the same page. It appears to be a random scattering of posts on any given thread page, I don't see a connection to the user so far.

In fact, it's happened to me here in this thread; I can react to 0 1's OP but can't quote or reply to it:

Around 8 hours ago there has been an outage of KF. The header loaded but came with a message "there is an error generating the page" (or something like that). This resolved in about 3 hours, but the bug appeared.

I came here to complain to Dear Feeder about this issue. I don't know if it helps or if it doesn't matter what platform you're using but I'm a fucking phoneposter using Brave for Android. I've uninstalled trannyfox so can't check on that.

To expand on this, and because I love giving tech lessons, here's how you would go about doing a proper manual BBC quote code

A normal opened quote string would look something like this...

[QUOTE="ShortBusDriver, post: 9892090, member: 47299"]

The post number can be found by hovering over the hastag number at the top right corner

The member number can be done the same way by hovering over the actual name of the user

All you'd have to do is then copy/pasta the text you want to quote and then remember close your quote tag.

I'm struggling from the same thing. I don't usually pay much mind to usernames, but I'm pretty sure these people haven't blocked me or anything, as they're replying to my posts in good faith.

Bug evolution -- Had an entire page of posts from the Wuhan Coronavirus Megathread lose not only the Quote and Reply buttons, but now the reaction button as well. Those same posts were reactable earlier today.

Images aren’t loading properly either as well on pages that don’t let you quote. I’m on iOS so I don’t know if it’s the same on other browsers.

Can someone on a proper computer hit F12 to bring up the developer console? I wonder if there's lots of angry red text, if both scripts and images are having issues.
