Man, people really do love their SUV blobs.
Even wagons and sedans are now these jacked-up abominations.

Would it kill a Boomer to hit the gym at least once a week and do some back and leg exercises, just so they can keep driving cool cars into the grave?

Nahhh, no time for that!
Gotta watch two hours of TV a day while your inability to function ruins the entire car market.

While boomers are responsible for the supersize crossover, SUV Mctank catastrophe of the current car market and the brutal slaughtering of the sedan and wagon. I believe in Volvos case specifically it is the bug peoples fault. As their chinese overlords are determined to convert Volvo to an electric car company that just exports chinese garbage under the volvo name. I wouldn't even hate a revived XC70 wagon plugin hybrid, I actually like the idea of a plugin hybrid... If it was a wagon and an XC70, this is nothing like the vehicle who's name they are slapping on it. The bug people are fucking stupid.

The only problem with newer Volvos is that it's entirely Chinese made shit. It was never going to stand a chance with Tesla and the people who get them do not care about the name whatsoever. Or more so, what it did represent at one point.

That newer Outback is pretty bad in how SUV looking it has become but the latest Toyota Crown is a crime in of itself, I'm telling ya. They really should just keep selling the Signia one if that's what Americans want.

It's a major far cry from what we already had so why not?

Not saying that I disagree. But with the way things have been going they aren't exactly the only company to have been invaded by these parasitic investors who have no idea what they are doing cough cough Stelantis cough cough. I would still buy a V90CC if given a good deal and opportunity though, it is the one offering they have I don't hate right now. Some of the decisions like this, slapping the XC70 name on a random new SUV is completely bizarre... So is this whole Polestar thing.

So they get a hold of Volvo, they have the Polestar name rights too. So they decide to spin it off into an electric car company while saying they also want Volvo to become fully EV... Polestar isn't working, still loosing billions with not great sales. And the bugs at Geely show slight restraint but are still going ahead with this whole cluster fuck. You've already determined that the whole EV only thing wont work out with Polestar, why are you still trying to force this onto people. And also they look at what the company is known for, the wagons all the other shit, fuck it were only going to sell shitty hybrid SUVs and Crossovers in the future with the goal of making them fully EV only.

I can at least understand the idea of Polestar being a competitor to Tesla offering a more premium feeling EV compared to the very minimalist style Tesla has. But it's not working, so why are we going forwards with this whole EV only Volvo shit, and why do you need two premium EV car brands. It is completely perplexing.

You've managed to summarize what I was thinking with this whole China takeover on older brands. It's the same deal with those British vehicles under Tata Motors. They don't really offer anything that isn't a complete vanity item and like I did imply earlier, most car brands are in real trouble for screwing around with the EV thing for too long. Enough that China can buy as much of them to be sold as their own.

India and China just prefer luxurious, electric vehicles way more than us Westerners do and it reflects in how they convert Jaguar, Volvo, Land Rover, Lotus, and such as competitors to their shitty brands. Not only that but it's basically their idea of "making it" in the societies they live in. They, very much, are bug people vehicles made for their kind and rich white boomers to waste their money on to look cool.

So for all of the bizarre decisions they make in creating as many premium EV brands as possible, they have as many suckers to pay for them. Part and parcel with the Indian/Chinese strategy.

I think you got the Volvo situation a bit skewed. When Ford sold Volvo to Geely, Volvo was already in the red and was sold at a huge loss. Geely helped keep the Volvo brand alive and have been fairly laissez faire when it comes to product portfolio. All the models that have come out since new ownership are still Swedish designed. Geely isn't commanding Volvo to make certain cars a specific way.

Slapping a legacy name on a new, but wholly different car isn't limited to Volvo. Ford did it with the Mustang Mach E and GM did with the Blazer generic crossover. Now Stellantis has done it with the current Charger EV, which is more of an overpriced EV sedan than Charger, but I guess the name fits now.

More variety of EVs isn't a bad thing and Polestar should keep doing what they're doing as they figure out their groove. I'll be in the market for an EV sometime soon and I sure won't want a Tesla. More choices are better than fewer.

I don't necessarily disagree except the part where you say Geely isn't commanding them to make vehicles in a specific way. Increasing numbers of new Volvos are just modified rebadged Zeekrs or cars from other chinese garbage brands that Geely owns. The new EM90(Yes I know this is china only right now, but they expressed a desire to sell in other markets) being the clearest example of this, it is a Zeekr 009 with no changes whatsoever. If you look at a lot of Volvos other new vehicles like the XC30 and 40 those were built with several different badges to be sold in Chinese markets.

I believe the overall goal is to have Volvo design some vehicles for the Chinese market while also using it as a badge to sell cars already designed by their other brands to stupid westerners. And I think if you look at their plans for the future and a lot of their current line up either you can see this happening.

I think almost of GM's EV line except Cadillac is just their existing models with "EV" slapped on the end. Sierra, Silverado, Hummer, Blazer, Equinox. Only the Bolt was really not. Ford just also slapped 'Lightning' on the F150.

Nissan's financial problems continue to worsen, as they may decide to shut down seven vehicle plants and cut 20,000 jobs, after reporting a $4.6 BILLION net loss in FY2024. / Archive

Since their demise is becoming more and more inevitable, who would be the likely candidates to purchase Nissan's assets if they go bankrupt? Honda or Toyota? The Koreans? The Chinese? The US? Who knows at this point, since Nissan doesn't have any tech that other auto makers would really want right now.
I'm actually going to take a LONG shot.

JPMC bank. They do all the loans for Nissan. I'm probably wrong tho.

Wife brought home a gen 1 Mazda 6-6. Proud of her. Also it was passive aggressive I haven't got the sexus boosted.

Cars got a lot of miles that real nice v6 smooth trans leather... But she has a stick daily.

Mazda feels majorly overlooked. A lot of their catalog, especially the older cars, are unique/fun/affordable/reliable like no other brands out there. Early 2000s feels like Mazda at it's best.

Sunroof drains clogged up in the new car so I spent the better part of a week ripping out all of the carpet, letting it dry, and putting it all back. What a pain. Mrs. Minto had fun helping though so it's worth it in the end.

So, I get my car inspected for my stickers. It passes, THEN the "check engine" light comes on. HOW? Why do mechanics have to be so shifty? Good thing we kept the receipt.

Do you have a code reader? What does it say that's kicking it on?
