Some say they are taking away from Netflix-Vania
I've never watched the show and know next to nothing about it. That's probably why I didn't have a knee jerk negative reaction to the art style.

again, good art direction, good use of colors, a bit "bright" compared to some of the better entries though.
I think that screenshot looks great honestly. I hope they do more with the background. Like getting to the castle's ramparts and seeing a buring village below you, stuff like that would neat.

It just looks ugly, it has nothing to do with netflixvania. Hell, I even dare saying netflixvania had a better artstyle, niggers and all.

I'm going to do a controversial thing and actually play the fucking game before i write it off and seethe on a gossip websites video games board, wild I know.
You absolute martyr you.

It’s crazy that the game industry is currently going through massive layoffs and reshaping due to lack of sales, and most gamers aren’t pleased with the content produced and aren’t buying it. I wonder if there’s a connection between lack of quality + increased prices and lack of sales?

Nah, gamers should just shut up and buy dogshit and burn money. Better to pretend pattern recognition is fake and waste money than do a heccin negative online.

from a pure art level they understand color contrast and light and dark contrast pretty well, and they really leaned into it, maybe too hard

I get that basically everyone here hates this art style, but outside of opinions on it and it being in Castlevania, its pretty good and follows alot of the rules that make things work artistically.

this game doesn't look nearly as bad in gameplay as you are trying to twist here in this post, there are dozens of games on Avowed or w/e level that are unplayable garbage, in the VERY least this will be of the same quality as the latest Prince of Persia Metroidvania, which was pretty fun and challenging, it could absolutely be woke or annoying or canon breaking, but it'll at least play fine unless they got turned into Lobotomites after their last game.

I’m saying you’re whining about people being negative about games, but you’re not paying attention to why. They’re expensive and they’re garbage more times than not, and now the consequences for that are following. No one is being negative for the hell of it, they’re just not being pay pigs.

I don’t care how much you cum over this sloppy Dead Cells asset flip, Castlevania as a series has had a long standing high quality aesthetic before Konami decided not to continue that. The games have failed every time as a result. You can love this, but it’s ok for us not to as fans of the series.

nigga you could just pirate it, I'll probably pirate it, I'm talking about people's insane take that its things it isn't, like objective statements about it, not the opinions of "I don't like it" which is fine, and expected.

I just refuse to get on the train of hating or liking things because of the collective kneejerk reaction with low information, I need more info or hands on experience to decidedly declare its dogshit, I don't care about people's retarded, mongoloid art style takes when they couldn't vaguely list off the whys or hows of what makes in game art good or bad, its all just "feelings".

certain products are a given that they will be bad, like new age Obsidian shit, but this is not that, because the last Metroidvania they put out, was good! so I need more to go on before declaring it shit! regardless of the gouging prices which I will circumvent by going to the Bay of Pirates.

I am probably the biggest Castlevania fan you'll ever interact with who doesn't, like, run a website or own all the merch. I've played nearly everything extensively that's been released for the series. I love love love the series.

And I want Konami to go bankrupt so badly. They were probably my favorite third party punisher and developer growing up. But watching them farm out some of my favorite IPs to Western devs is deeply depressing and occasionally blasphemous.

This new game will be Castlevania in name only. I like Dead Cells. It will probably be a solid game. But it's not Castlevania.

Kill the series and the publisher outright before they rape and sully everything they used to be. I've moved on to Bloodstained and Blasphemous.

I cant help but be a tad disappointed we will never see Victor Belmont properly because he would stand out due to the fact he raised the question "What if a Belmont doesnt want to be a vampire killer? Maybe they think they arent needed anymore and other clans can handle it. Maybe they dont think its fair that this war with the night has been forced upon them because they just happen to be born a Belmont. Or maybe they have lost faith in humanity and even God and kind of stopped giving a shit. Maybe a combination of all of the above even."

And hell, he would be born in 1800, which means that he technically would have been the next Belmont after Richter so Victor's refusal at carrying the family legacy would even kind of explain where the Belmonts have gone until 1999, because, really, the franchise never properly explains convincingly why the Belmonts disappeared beyond some vague prophecy that said they werent suppose to wield the V.K until 1999 where the final battle with Dracula was to take place. Resurrections really could have been the entry to expand on that and have a Belmont that is more flawed and less noble than his predecesors, but still has the potential to grow and learn the benefits and responsibilities that come with legacy.

It is also the entry which would have brought Sonia Belmont, this whole game predating Silence of Innocence/Leon Belmont so she technically wasnt retconned yet and I can imagine that, had this game come out, it would have likely prevented said retconning but thats besides the point. We would basically have two Belmonts for the price of one, the one that "started" the legacy and the one who rejected it, brought together to face the count. I can imagine we either would switch between them during the plot or have two different campaigns ala Castlevania 64. One can only ponder what could have been.

And truly, Victor is the biggest loss here since it posed questions that the series never bothered with and it would have been interesting to see them if handled properly.

As much as I hate Crapcom, not even Crapcom is as disrespectful to their IPs as a Konami. Bomber Man has it just as bad as Castlevania, and I think these guys also ruined other Hudson soft IPs like Adventure Island and

I'm gonna say, it looks good, and turns out its more IGA style than I thought as she doesn't have the Vampire Killer as her main weapon, but undoubtly it will be unlocked later like with Portrait of Ruin.
Its certainly unlike any Castlevania up till now, especially artstyle wise, but it looks like a good game.

Limited heals per checkpoint, iframe dodges and "souls-like" bosses. So definitely not gonna play like classic Castlevania. I'll still check it out because I'm a huge fan of games like Dead Cells and Blasphemous. But for those purely interested in classic Castlevania gameplay, don't forget there's a new Bloodstained set to come out this year too, so just save your $30 for that instead.

Yeah....I know this is Kiwifarms but people are just looking to hate it. Everything show has looked fun and (so far) the story looks fine.

Could it shit the bed? Sure, I also really like the dev brought back a version of the Tarot Card system from Circle of the Moon to give players the ability to not only customize their sub-weapons but give a reason to explore/expierment with them.

I think people just have blown up the quality of previous games in their mind, there are hours of playing Order of Ecclesia where you are just using the most basic bog standard attack on the most boring ass fucking enemies to get their shit, I'd say about 60% of your time in that game is mind numbing.. Dawn of Sorrow was a much more dynamic game and it too had problems, mainly in that you could stomp every boss in the game up till near the end in a matter of seconds, and game knowledge only heightened it, but I liked the map much more than some of them.

I'd say PoR was one of the best in the series because it had a ton of area variety of ton of weapon variety and areas and its wild to me they followed that game up with Order... all of these games are quality but they have various flaws here and there.

This game will have flaws too, and its quite a bit different with its limited healing and more involved boss fights but it looks pretty good.

You're unironically playing the game wrong.

I mean I might have exaggerated but I find Order to be rather bland compared to DoS or PoR, there is certainly alot of stuff here that's good, so I'm not being overtly negative, however I have played all of these many times over, so when I see the gameplay from the new game, I can't rationally say its bad, its just incredibly different than what we've had before.
