Oh please we all know if they could get the whole Netflixvania cast they would have. It's shocking they didn't try to shove in Homolrox.
I mean...

At least it's not gay mexican Olrox? Could be Brauner because monocle but that would be taking an epic shit on his backstory.

I do not like the writing in this. Not much shown, just the intro, some gameplay and totally not Leon Belmont look guys his voice actor is not Dave Wittenberg he has a completely new voice here please don't look up who voices him in japanese haha
her voice acting is just so fucking bad man... why do all modern female voice actors sound exactly the same?

yea I agree all the of its pretty fucking bad.

I however really like the animations, movement and combat, I never really cared too much about the VA work for Castlevania because honestly it was pretty rare in this series, and we all know the infamous bad dub for SoTN, so I can overlook how mid as fuck the voice work is here if the game plays good.

which I mean, this is my main contention, the gameplay looks good, the art style goes from either good to great depending on the area, its better than I expected us to get with a continuation of this franchise.

Fuck it, I've cracked the 'tism seal already, I might as well go full retard.
I disagree, I think the art just looks lazy and thoughtless.

Why is Rose wearing a back skirt thing? It's not a cloak for travel tied around her waist like Nathan Grave's flappy leg thing, it's just a bizarre fashion choice.

Why is there a walkway with no clock mechanism behind the face of the clock and why is the clock front lit? Ungenerously, probably because the artist saw a movie once where there was a fight in front of a lit clock and they decided to put it inside with no thought as to why that would look wrong.

Why are the clock's hours colour split into thirds? Did the artist vaguely remember another video game time indicator that split the (24 hour) day into morning/afternoon/night (orange-red-purple) and has applied those colours even though they make no sense for a (12 hour) clock?
Why are there lines midway between each hour so that we can have 2.30min, 7.30min, 12.30min etc past the hour marked out?

I don't know skeletons, but I think that that Death looks awful.
The visual language seems to indicate this is just a skeleton 'powered' by the green fire in his chest (ie someone stuffed 'life' into it/created it, not that he's the ancient embodiment of death).
Why would you make a scythe, which needs a sturdy handle, out of what looks to be a spine, the most flexible length of a body?

It's not a style, because it's not stylising anything or retaining meaning/function, it's just nonsense with flashy colours and random references.

Why is there an IV instead of a IIII on the clock face? I'm being unkind but I think it's because the artist hasn't looked at clocks for inspiration, they've just vaguely remembered clocks from other games with roman numerals. It's not a hard and fast rule to use IIII, but I'm not willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that they made an intentional choice.

The backgrounds are just random shit everywhere, like what even is this?

There's a huge gateway (window?) with bars that a person could fit through, like whatever, it's stylised, but there's a room behind with a window? But the barred portals follow the stairs, so the room behind also has a matching stairway?
1787880695382.png
Or the room behind is a huge room with windows looking onto a stairway and they've matched a bunch of windows crammed together following the stairway? Why aren't they evenly spaced/sized? Where is this? The vibe I'm getting (moss etc) is sewer (but why the barrels?) or cellar (but why the huge bright windows/portals everywhere?).

It's not this one scene, just everything looks random and thoughtless.

TL;DR: Everything I've seen so far looks like cargo cult design.
You make a fucking spine into a whip, not a scythe.

I guess they wanted it to be some reference to Trevor and Leon's outfits? But in their cases you can tell they're longcoats. With Rose it's like... Blue behind with some tails, disappearing to show a black corset plus a white shirt with huge buttons in the front, then blue comes back over her boobs and then a huge neck thing with a chain? What? And then there's the tumblr nose blush you can't stop seeing once you notice it.

Maybe she's an alcoholic and it's a plot point. As the game goes on she gets sober and can more accurately hit things.

If anything, the blue flaps are evoking Rinoa from FF8.

And Squall's belts.

Which is funny because I got around to watching Nocturne recently and couldn't help but notice that the Sekmet design looks an awful lot like Adel from the same game:

Maybe the future of Castlevania is FF8.

EDIT: Oh hey, FF8 also had a giant clock (which also uses IIII)

I really want them to explain how the fuck is Dracula's curse still present to the point it infected Trevor and Sypha's child when Curse of Darkness literally ends with Hector getting rid of it.
Unless that by "transforming it" he meant "sending it to Sypha's eggs (and France)"... That, or Rose was born between 3 and CoD. Seriously, where is Hector in all of this? He's only one year older then Trevor...

The lore's been fucked since Lament of Innocence, Konami doesn't give a shit trying to keep it straight anymore, and now add in the netflix faggotry.

The lore is deader that Dracula after Aria of Sorrow.

Is he blond? I thought he was silver-haired in symphony, but the official art seems to have a foot in each camp (could be my monitor). I know he does in the first Netflix cartoon, but then in Nocturne they saved their digital paint and made him white haired.

I had a quick look through the thread but didn't see it mentioned, there's Symphony of the Night decompilation/recompilation projects happening and there seems to be a (somewhat) functional build - it's still very buggy, but looks like there might one day be a widescreen, moddable version running on PC-

he's incredibly light blonde, his ingame sprite leans toward silver, but no, he just has his mother's haircolor.

SoN_Alucard_Main_Portrait.webp

Weirdly enough, my younger brother was born with hair exactly like Alucard, so blonde it shown white at times, despite having normal skin, it was ethereal, almost angelic, he always wore it long till he hit about 20, and by then it had become darker ever year after he was about 14 till it was only a few shades lighter than my own brown hair.

I sometimes wonder if its natural to have such a wide change in haircolors over birth to adolescence, it was the only thing I was ever jealous about basically in my entire life, petty as it was, he was born beautiful and had the fairest hair anyone had seen, even more than any girl around, I was smarter and more skilled in a variety of things but still, the amount of attention that little shit got was insane.

I cannot hate the Castlevania subreddit, certain individuals sure, but not overall. It's mostly just people discussing how hot they find Dracula (and occasionally Alucard) in oblique ways. They're so harmless.

That first screenshot doesn't even like Nocturne, just feels the need to veil their Alucard thirsting behind a veil of sjw respectability. Posting something 'controversial' (that they hope isn't too controversial) is just their way of getting attention because no-one would read the 50th Alucard fanpost of the day. I'd take bets that redditor going forward won't post a single thing about Annette, black or white, it'll be all about bishie Alucard.

Although, sometimes it's people kept awake at night wondering: Can Soma Cruz absorb the souls of Pokémon?
The conclusion is maybe.
