hey guise remember bloody tears haha we managed to make a bloody tears cover boring no we don't know other cool castlevania song to remix
Sounds like nitpicking I know, but there are so many underrated and less known Castlevania songs they could have picked to remix (like something from Belmont's Revenge considering the whole "the fallen" thing and that Rose apparently will go through something similar to Soleil) but they took the easy route.
>The dude that could be Olrox but looks more like Brauner even has Brauner's colors
Dude I fucking swear...

No one should have any sort of hope for modern Konami games, the new Silent Hill games are proof of that

You know I was just wondering if Evil Empire was going to bring on Yoann Laulan for the OST. He did a pretty great job with Dead Cells and his remixes for the cross over DLC were pretty good imo
The track in the trailer doesn't sound like his style so maybe they didn't.
In other news, I beat Circle of the Moon a few weeks ago and liked it well enough. I wanted to check the Lords of Shadows games next since they seem to be pretty different from what I've played so far. I've never really heard anyone talk about the 3d Castlevanias so I don't know how they're regarded generally in the fanbase, but they have mostly positive reviews on steam so I'll probably give them a shot.

Chiptune reworks need more electric guitar (or keyboard if that's your fancy) and signficantly less bowed strings. A mess was made of the Wonderboy Dragon's Trap music as well, at least you could turn their orchestral versions off and use the original music.

From memory, they were all pretty poorly received at the time. Lots of comments that Castlevania was struggling in making the jump to 3d. Over time the only people who stick with it are going to be the ones who enjoy it, so they'll generally be who you continue to hear from, even if that's a small pool of people. Reviews decades late will skew positive because only people extremely interested already will check it out and they're likely to give it more grace than is due because of it's age.

I found Lament boring and gave up a few hours in and didn't bother with the rest. It felt really clunky too, I vaguely recall unflattering comparisons being made to Devil May Cry which was older but controlled better. They seem to have a bit of lore in them if that's your jam (though I think Lords is an alt history type thing?).

Lords of Shadow 1 is an exceptionally high production value game, the menus, chapter select are all fancy book openings, the game is a sort of God of War esque romp, great voice work and level design, varied locales... Its good, and every lords of Shadow game after is kinda worse than the last.

The 3ds one is an alright game, and LoS2 is .. well it's unique, but it's bad in pretty big areas.

It was a neat idea for an alternative world Castlevania, and Alucard being Trevor and having Vergil moveset was cool... That's about it.

Just gonna crosspost these here... (Why are there two threads anyway?)
Achievements have leaked
Just in case you had any doubts about the Fallen being Leon

They HAD TO include the overused line alongside other fossilized memes, and YOU WILL see normies proud of themselves for recognizing the same one reference everyone has made 1797 times already

Confirmed multiple endings

King Arthur boss!?
View attachment 9542010

Well you see the curse wasn't really dispelled, Hector did a sloppy job and that's why curse still there even though it shouldn't teehee

TL;DR:
- Fallen all but confirmed to be Leon (pretends to be shocked)
- King Arthur boss
- 3 endings, Belmonts seem to go extinct in the worst one (Somehow, Trevor forgot to make more babies with Sypha ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
- hey guise do u know the die monster maymay haha
- Somehow, Hector fucked up and did not remove the curse completely

Hate this capeshit we-so-self-aware-ecks-dee shit.

Eh the memery aside (I've learned to just roll my eyes anytime someone tries to hit me with that shit when they hear I'm a Castlevania fan) looks like a pretty solid list. Thinking of getting both this and Resonance but kinda want to wait to see how reviews work out.

I have a rather big love/hate with the LoS trilogy. Absolutely adored the first one and when I started playing it is when I was also first dating the Future Mrs. Gabbiani who ended up getting into it as well because she loved Castlevania. So yeah that one has some fond memories for me.

The 3DS title was alright. Like you said it is a servicable Metroidvania. Story was neat at least.

Then came the final game. To say I was pissed the entire time I played it would be a massive understatement. Felt so half-baked both in content and story and my poor lady was just as annoyed too. Only redeeming quality were the performances but that's only because Isaacs, Carlyle, and Stewart could make the thesaurus sound exciting.

Lords of Shadow 2 is alot more fun when you treat it as the Castlevania Zoo. I mean you get to fight Satan on top of the corpse of Leviathan while falling through the stratosphere.

Games stealth sections were shit, but it had some heart.

the problem is you already whooped Lucifer's ass in the first game, and now you are exponentially more powerful, and he loses even easier than the first game, the fact his smug ass just lets'er'rip and attacks you on sight despite standing zero fucking chance is baffling and brings into question the entire plot of the franchise.

Yeah it's kinda shit, but it didn't offend me. Just kinda felt like a big glorious mess. I can't really put it into words real well, the passion and love from the developers just felt genuine and playful.

I might be wearing some rose colored glasses though, after the awful spiteful dreck that was the Netflix Castlevania, Lords of Shadow feels wholesome and comfortable compared to that trash. At least Lords of Shadow seemed to like Catholics and religion in general.

yea its a mess but they did their own thing and it was a neat idea, they just completely lost the plot in the last half of the last game in a big way, after all he's done him just being like "let's go home Trevor" and that's that is hilarous, motherfucker you are the Lord of Darkness and just killed Lucifer, you've killed hundreds of thousands of people and Sinned against God, you can't just go play ball with your kid.

I haven't played Dead Cells yet but I'm willing to give it a try.
Dead Cells was in the Humble Bundle so I played it and have an opinion on it now.

The art style/direction is pretty great, and I like the second-to-second actual combat and action of the game in general. The procedural levels and having to double jump constantly to new heights is pretty ass, especially when it's baseline and not a progression power, but also the second jump has almost no height to it so it's largely just a recorrect or extra distance on some procedural "here's a length of spikes or poison water a single jump isn't enough for."

I suspect the intentional level design and forced player direction will fill the gaps I think Dead Cells has, so I'm pretty pleased that they were fans of the series, tried to make an endlessly replayable Castlevania, and are now making a real entry without the randomization.

I couldn't give less of a shit about the story or timeline.

In case you STILL had doubts about The Fallen's identity despite everything pointing to him...

And the Brauneresque vampire?

Did they even PLAY Portrait!?

"Where did you get these screenshots Brain Power?" They're mine, the demo got released today and it turns out the game uses Unity, so the first thing I did instead of playing the demo was loading assetstudio and check out what did they hide in the files.

Played the demo from the new game, it's fucking trash. Basically we have Netflix-ification of the lore, straight out of the gate it's full of anti-Catholic 'corrupt Church' talk so I can see the direction this thing is going in. No holy objects like crosses or Holy Water, its some gay tarot shit. Your sprite is absolutely tiny and the music sounded more like ambient noises.

The main player is yet another buff girlboss character. Voice acting sucks, like a bad 1980s cartoon.

I had my doubts a reboot would go well, and well, they were justified, because this is just mobile slop junk. I hope it bombs.

half of these points can be tossed at order of Ecclesia, so I'm still waiting to see just how bad it really is by comparison, Castlevania isn't known for its dialogue, plot or in the metroidvania's, its combat, its reliant on a variety of other factors to be fun, but people have very very rose tinted glasses about aspects of the franchise when they start comparing to new games.

The outright fedoraification of Castlevania is a new thing without getting into rose colored glasses about the series as a whole. I admit Order, while a 'true' Castlevania game, was one of the weakest entries in the series. The combat system was bizarre and unfun (though I did beat it).

I'm talking about the "strong women" (complaining about that in this fucking franchise is odd) the Church Is Bad, no Belmont family line sub-weapons.. ect.

plenty of games in the series have this problem, or all of them, however this game might still be a woke nightmare, its not that I'm outright defending it, I'm just suggesting.. the series isn't exactly high on alot of things people are shitting on this game for, I can't think of a single game in the series that had passable dialogue and not just a few cheeky bad lines that everyone qoutes, and every metroidvania in the series is "walk down hallway and slaughter these faggots" the game.

Between this and IGA's side series we've had about 3 games of this in a row. That's what I was referring to. Maybe someday we'll have a normal Belmont male again (Julius would be a popular choice), if this entry doesn't kill the series for another 15+ years first.

Woke crap aside, on a 27 inch monitor the main player is freaking tiny and it isn't clear sometimes whether or not you even hit anything. There is just a lack of hit feedback/detection.
