Richter was a super powered man of God with 400 years of eugenics and magical blood and some guy named Shaft just OOOMPLAH and its done.
Shaft simply got advantage of Richter's internal weakness, something even Dracula recognized he had. It wasnt something "big" enough to compromise who Richter was as a person but it was a crack in the armor enough to take advantage of it.
Richter became extremely guilty about it afterwards and the fact the Belmonts have demonstrated to not be beyond getting mind controlled (
it happened 2 or 3 times by then) is one of the reasons the bloodline went into hiding for a couple of centuries.
Richter's fall was natural and it didnt ruin his character, Leon on the other hand? Well, I need to actually confirm what happened in the greentext was accurate or not before casting my judgement.
the difference is Leon is dead, so it might be easier to pull off.
The problem is what it is suppose to represent. Richter's fall is meant to be tragic while Leon's is meant to be deconstructive where it didnt need it, hell, it shouldnt be as thats the foundation of the Belmonts that came after.
And its not even the case I DONT think there couldnt be a Belmont that goes against the norm, in fact, I much looked forward to Victor Belmont because of that, being one that rejected the call to hunt the night as realistically there would be at least one major member of the bloodline that wouldnt willingly participate for whatever reason.
Rose's stuff about "Its not enough to hunt the night, we have to bring the dawn" is just absolutely redundant pseudo philosophical nonsense because ALL Belmonts are already doing that. Are we suppose to assume that she brought some sort of major change? Thats clearly not the case as all Belmonts behave the exact same as Trevor and Leon in terms of approaches to evil (
also of course that its modern media that tries to muddle the lines between good and evil).
At best it is pointless, at worst it is insulting and pathetic.
