Charter/Spectrum... Fucking Up All Over

I guess last week they had some kind of random outage problem, mostly in the midwest and now it looks like it's hitting other places. At first I thought I was in a wall garden, but like I can access KF but Twitter is up shit creek, which normally isn't how wall gardens work (normally only those companies/corporations who pay big money get to retain your access).

Ironically I can't even access their own company site/page, but like I can access GAB, so definetly not a wall garden.

I'm presuming they're having some kind of DNS/routing issues, possibly some kind of virus/malware thing. I haven't reset my modem/router so I'm not sure if that'll help or not (likely not). I guess it's the same issue that Fats was raving on about last week, where he thought he got hacked or whatever.

In any event it's annoying, I can't even access Steam or most game sites. At least KF still works tho.

Ever since Charter picked up Time Warner (and morphed into Spectrum), they've had problems.

Prior to that, you'd see the occasional hiccup but nothing serious. I think the worst I ever had was for a while, on at least one Sunday a month the Internet would drop at 10AM promptly for a few hours. My guess was some kind of maintenance or upgrade work; I suppose if you're going to do that sort of thing, Sunday morning's probably the best time to do it.

I'm only glad they haven't ruined my area yet (hopefully never). The cable operator here has been local for a very long time.

I had them since back when they were Brighthouse and I haven't noticed much of a difference. I think they stopped carrying usenet a year or two before the name change so I don't know if that was Spectrum's fault somehow.

If it is DNS issues then just change your DNS. If it is an interior routing issue then you are fucked (until they fix it) unless you can reach a proxy.

Most ISP's DNS are shit.

I've had Spectrum since the Bright House days, and it's been relatively OK over here. Though, I did have a 10 hour downtime a little while back, alongside an extra 3 hours to resolve a soft modem block. Fiber just came into the neighborhood, so we might look into that.

if by fiber you mean verizon fios, we have that and it's good, and the installer re-connected our rotary dial phone which on our previous provider you could only answer calls and not make them since it wasn't a legacy company
