It seems like it's trying too hard to ape Guy Ritchie in the worst ways.

I mean Wasteland 3 did have its fair share of wacky writing but I remember your companions having their fair balance between straight honest characters(the sheriff, the young noblewoman) and wacky assholes(Buchanan's psycho son who you could recruit much to the chagrin/horror of everyone and the black dude with the shotgun arm) and it was wacky in a surreal way, like I could see how this conclave could reasonably believe building and worshipping a sentient statue of Reagan was their endgoal.
Here the entire crew seems like they want to be the wacky badass including Lisa FUCKING Darrow(You just know someone thought this was the coolest thing when making that trailer and I'll never understand that) and while the game's mechanics seem interesting(god knows how complex it will be as an immersive sim but it's an immersive sim with a release date so I'm at the very least interested) I don't like the aesthetic at all.

Wasteland 2 and 3 are among my favourite games of all times.
I enjoy the post apocalyptic 80's inspired setting with a wide range of americana lore.
Robots, mutants, cannibal clowns, nuclear cults, weird societies, and all manner of wacky shit.
Sure, it's not a complex RPG, but it has a charm that's hard to replicate. Where else would you have a rocket launcher that uses frozen ferrets as ammunition or be asked to brave the nuclear wasteland for a stash of old porn movies?

What I'm trying to say is that I used to wish for a next installment (wasteland 4), but I'm not so sure anymore. There's evidence of rot and I dread for another of my favourite series to be defiled by the faggot agenda.

Spiritually a 2016 game
It feels very much like a late Obama-era game that they forgot to release, and it's just been sitting around all this time, the character designs are trying WAY too hard. The quirky dancing shit was dated and cringe-inducing in Bioshock Infinite and that was several years ago. And it also does indeed have a strong whiff of that period, ten years ago where you had people working in various media trying to replicate, or blatantly knock-off aspects of Guardians of the Galaxy, mixed in with some Theater Kid style nonsense.

Oh lawd.

Incoming, it's the "In Your Face, Takes-No-Nonsense #Girlboss Character (I.E. An Abrasive, Unpleasant Cunt)" Express. Another sort of character who comes off as so dated and Of A Time that they should be left there, in the wastebin of pop-cultural history.

Yeah. I was trying to place the familiarity of this vibe. You lot are right about the 2016 vibe. If the time control looks interesting it could be okay.

Has Outer Worlds syndrome aka trying to hard to be "quirky" like the Fallout games.
Fallout never was a "le quirky chungus" franchise and never will be, unless you count the non-canonical Bethesda entries and the Amazon TV show, both of which are non canon and only subhuman normalniggers care about. The original Fallout was the exact opposite of that, even at the times where it was full of jokes like in Fallout 2.
I will give you Outer Worlds, I noticed that immediately and I am not sure that's a good thing. I was hoping something more alongside Arcanum or Wasteland 2/3, instead we get Bioshock Infinite mixed with OW. I'm hoping that gameplay will be good, but the characters and dialogue may just be a lost cause. I blame nu-Volition refugees for this and all of the game's other faults.

Definitely feels like a game from that era, which begs the question just how long in development it has been.
