Well, Liam Gray went DFE on his YouTube page again. I migrated to Oz's show, but it seems like I was right, drama originates organically from Liam himself, and it'll keep popping up again anyhow.

Anyone know what happened this 1,001 times that Liam's had a breakdown? Fill me in @Mister Dongs if you kept up with him. I heard something about him being a dumbass and crying about not being able to afford to bag and board books and for shipping fees.

Looks like I was right, the fucker probably won't deliver his book. Face it Liam, you're another Cridious.

DC must have told Tom that he was already on shaky ground with his cancelled Bat Wedding stunt, and that harassing a popular Asian artist while he was in mourning was a step too far.
I have the impression that Mr King had a talk with Mr Lee. Not Mr Jae Lee, but Mr Jim " Publisher of DC" Lee. Or he had one too many people outraged and in for a cancelling for his arabic skeletons in the closet. Again, he was an agent of an organization in an era that they commited war crimes - and there is no way to exonerate him from possible involvement in them.

But, to be honest, Tom King had a c-tier Vertigo series and a novel most people on Goodreads call pretentious drivel (sort of like his comics, only without the pretty pictures) as IP. His most successful work is him buttfucking big two characters into sadness porn. Vision was great but how many times can he repeat the same story. If comicbook writers of today knew how to write and aspired to do more literary work Tom King would have been a b-lister, but he is the one-eyed leading the blind and can masquerade some literary dialogue/captions as good writing.

If you take away TK's access from DC characters (or restrain how he uses them) he has nothing to rely on and no proven track record of successful IP. People want to read (or shudder to think of) what Tom King can do to X DC character. How many people care for any original TK titles?

On the other hand, Jae Lee can live off comissions or doing covers for indies because he is a talented artist and people want to own his stuff. Hell, he could go and do an IGG of Hellshock and/or publish a sequel if he wanted to.

This is an imbalance that comicbook writers and editors either don't realize or are too afraid to admit. The main reason they hate comicsgate is because they fear THOSE PEOPLE will get their hands on Batman and, if this happens, they are finished.

Liam, like a good bunch of CB twitter literally-whos is a psycho who has to create drama. The end.

After the raging at Micah Curtis for not shipping his comic Englewood #1 in a bagged and boarded manner with a Gemini mailer, heads started to turn towards regular Micah associate Liam Gray on whether his book Xenotype would be shipped via bagged and boarded and packed in standard Gemini mailer. The problem with this is that the Gemini comic mailer is too small to fit in a 200 page TPB + any additional content and would not likely physically fit.

However, this would mean Liam would have failed the "ARE YOU SHIPPING THEM IN GEMINI MAILERS YES OR NO?" test, a very important test to be sure. So Liam began to take the natural course of action; spin a yarn about how Gemini mailers were not available in Australia except through import at great expense out of Liam's personal savings and that they wouldn't fit anyway so he's entering into a partnership with a domestic cardboard manufacturing company to build perfect mailers for you, the Xenotype customer. As opposed to looking up, I dunno, cardboard mailers for books or something. The growing number of Liam skeptics/vicarious Oz Art haters were not given confidence by this and it was not long before Liam privated the stream.

Can't fit a 200+ paperback in one? I fit at least 5 or 6 bagged and boarded copies of Trixie Cain: Blood Reaper in one gemini several times. Each of those is 64 pages plus the bag and board. Stardust is about 28 pages and I fit 10 of those into one, but for shipping 10 copies of Stardust, I was only able to bag and board a few of them.

are there any images around of how Micah was shipping his book?

Why? Majority of CG aligned creators are not more talented than hacks working at DC or Marvel.
They are, as a general rule equally untalented, but they also have a platform and generate sales. At some point marvel might have thought that this DnC guy with 100K loyal subs wants to write a new warriors series, how about we grab him and put him there. For the sales. This is probably how a lot of people were hired straight out of twitter.

Heads up: Ethan Van Sciver is trying to resurrect the Comicsgate harassment campaign right now.

Heads up: Tess the Foul is trying to use CG to boost her fake cancer scam.
All the limp-wristed male feminists in the replies are simping so hard.

Just because these fake geek girls are whores doesn't mean they're gonna sleep with random white knights who can't help their "careers." Stick to assaulting fat feminazis, guys 👍

Except for Joe Glass. He can go fuck a gay hornets' nest.

Speaking of, David Finch has adopted the "direct consumer pipeline" market model himself and is enjoying great success so far. His channel's gone from zero to 38K subscibers in less than two months. In this stream he's talking about launching what presumably is his crowdfund when he "hits around 50,000 subs", which at the rate his channel is growing at will be a few weeks. His key to success? Get his wife to cohost the channel and promptly read superchats while he draws and answers questions regarding technique.

Finch discusses the Jae Lee situation at this timestamp, giving the most powerful non-condemnation of King's conduct towards friend Lee, reiterating his deep desire to not involve himself in online lynch mobs and sit down and draw apolitical content for his fans. Sounds familiar. While the debacles of Gail Simone and Donny Cates being laughed off youtube are fresh in our memory, more and more creators are starting to dabble in building youtube followings and found a crowdfunding customer pool. Hell, even Frog's brother started a channel. Now, as to whether this could be considered a success for Comicsgate depends on your perspective of Comicsgate either being a set of ideals or a community (both are somewhat true).

In other news, one of the more promising new Comicsgaters surprisingly turned out to be Shane Davis' very asian wife Yanzi Lin, who comically has built a larger presence than Shane Davis himself after declaring himself CG by roadhauling renfamous around twitter with her minority status to the point where ole' Lauren has had to switch to hopefully easier targets Micah Curtis and fyzgiggidy/Piper. Even going so far as trying to lure Peregrine's colorist into abandoning the project.

In related news Capt. Cummings has deactivated/deleted his account after publicly turning on Vikki and Preston Poulter, the latest blowback in the infighting "Anti-CG" movement triggered by Frog's exposure of humble Australian spacetrip merchant "Zombienomicon". An ignoble end to a Comicsgate founder if ever there was one.

Overall, the loose collection of individuals known as "Anti-CG" is in such a state that unlikely outside parties like Gail Simone and "Soy Rage" (in a stream now privated by Mecha McCheese where he went after Vikki and DA Talks after the latter on air called him a faggot and extended an invitation for him to eat shit) are now intervening to try and keep the opposition to Comicsgate from complete implosion.

Good to hear. I'd love to hear Finch talk about working on Batman with Tom King.

In CG news

Ya Boi reviews 'Eisner' winner Mariko Tamaki's new run on WW. He actually is misleading, most of the video is him dunking on Janin's terrible artwork.

Lots of livestreams. People have lost the art of accessible videos. Earnst did live streams on Jae Lee situation. There's a hole in the comics sphere in accessible comic videos. Essentially its down to Richard and those dumbasses on Keyfabe.

Shane Davis has a channel and live-streamed. He's about as boring as watching paint dry, but he actually manages to get Jon Malin to talk about his career which is interesting.

The Kayfabe guys do those huge ass pseudo-streams though. If they could cut their videos under 20 mins (like comictropes does) I would watch them religiously

Dynamite put out an official statement about ditching CG. But to answer the question on is it enough, the answer is hell no. You folded like paper instead of standing your ground, so they'll just do it again when you bring on someone else they don't like since they now know it works.

Dynamite Entertainment Posts Comicsgate Statement – Is It Enough?
Posted on July 29, 2020 | by Rich Johnston | Comments
In recent days, Bleeding Cool has reported on Dynamite Entertainment's issues with its staff and creators over their recent decisions to publish and crowdfund for comic book variants of their titles created by, and featuring characters from people associated with Comicsgate.

As a result, a number of creators publically announced they were, or already had, pulled out of projects. Bleeding Cool also reported that writer Declan Shalvey had pulled out of Dynamite's big October comic book event, DIE!Namite. While Dynamite themselves pulled out of two of three Comic-Con@Home video panels, after the creators featured on those panels were no longer working on the comic books, and pulled all of their IndieGoGo crowdfunded projects.
Today, Dynamite Entertainment has issued the following statement regarding their actions then and going forward.
Statement from Dynamite
July 29, Mt. Laurel, NJ:
"Dynamite Entertainment is a partner in the fight for equality and inclusion. Our company was founded on these core values more than 15 years ago and they are essential to the creative process – the work of visionary artists and entrepreneurs – that we are passionate about. Intolerance has no place in our company or our industry. The impulse behind this brief association was that of helping a friend of many decades and his family, and not how that assistance could potentially affect our valued colleagues, partners, and friends. That association is behind us and this time has strengthened our resolve to continue working with the most diverse talent in creating the best comics possible."
There is likely to be plenty of commentary to follow from all manner of folk, regarding whether this is the right kind of response from Dynamite Entertainment, whether it is an appropriate statement to make and whether it addresses the issues at hand. It will be enough for some, but others will likely find it wanting. Dynamite did also include a list of current creators they are working with, which is missing some important names but also consists of some that had previously pulled out.

Who wants to work for a company that folds faster than Superman on laundry day?

I'm in the corporate world and the message from the past year is already being heard loud and clear: never under any circumstances EVER hire anyone who shows even a hint of SJW'ism. Many are veering away from hiring females altogether for any reason they can find.

This remind me of the jawbreakers depositions. There's this great bit from them, where Dunn wrote an email in which he point out, none of these people had worked for Antarctic. Mark Waid didn't write for them, and as we've seen, still has not.

You still got cancelled by Gail. People are going to punish you. The worst bit? In order to get treated like that you threw people who made you money under the bus.
