So, for a brief (if overdue) update on this post last week about the Rewriting Ripley article that raised eyebrows with its professional-looking presentation. This went on mostly ignored by the Comicsgate rank and file but Dataracer, a rarity that is an active Fandom Menace member dropped this twitter thread that was swiftly amplified by the Quartering.

The two culprits, Katie McCort and Mariet Guerrero, made the classic mistake of posting the rallying cries for their anonymous cancel campaigns under their personal accounts, which were well known as mentally unstable twitter ringleaders in the Reylo fandom. Given the matchup in names and adding that Guerrero actually confirms her age (37) in the first of the two Rewriting Ripley podcasts. This seems like an inexplicably sloppy misstep in what otherwise looks to be a very solid operation.

In follow up tweets, Dataracer next directs to a thread made Jan. 2020 by LucasFilms social media manager Michelle Buchmann (who has since scrubbed their social media profile), calling out for academics "familiar with fandoms and digital culture online" where she was connected with Bethany Lacina and Morten Bay (actual academics). It should be noted that both academics were cited heavily in the Rewriting Ripley article.

This is followed by other tweets noting Pablo Hidalgo's following of the Rewriting Ripley account, then Dataracer recounting the hit pieces penned by Katie McCort in the past about "Reylo persecution" that were then carried and given legitimacy by Bethany Lacina's connections in the Washington Post, railing against the lies levied against him by McCort in the past.

Exposed, the until now polished and well-presented Ripley account dissolved into incoherent, poorly spelled, sprawling twitter sperghetti arguing that youtube clickbait is the first step to domestic terrorism; the sort of fare that one might expect from someone who's defining personality characteristic is masturbating to tumblr gifs of Kylo Ren and not the rigorous, academic thesis levied initially by Katie and Lady V. Everything neatly wrapped up by Dataracer with an assist from the Quartering.

Studying Comicsgate for as long as I have, one gets a sixth sense when it comes to gayops. Does a mentally ill Star Wars Reylo, no matter how obsessive, really have the capability of making all this happen? And what about the colossal drop in writing quality from academic thesis to word salad spazout? These are telltale signs of a Zombienomicon-type figure, hanging in the back while a useful patsy serves as the public face and leader (and inevitable reprisal recipient). But who?

Returning to the Rewriting Ripley About Me page, the author describes themselves as a Webby Award Winner. As far as anyone is aware of, the hosts Reylos Katie and Lady V have not won any Webbies.

This would explain the wild rollercoaster of composure and craft going on behind Rewriting Ripley as well as some of the more implausible aspects of Dataracers's explanation - Michelle Buchman is the actual author of Rewriting Ripley and the two podcasters were just sockpuppets. But would former LucasFilm employee Michelle Buchman sit back and let two Reylos take all the blowback for her labeling some of the largest "anti-SJW" youtubers as "alt-right" and calling for a deplatforming campaign while she hangs back with a scrubbed social media footprint?

You’re a few years too late on relevant people giving a shit about Comicsgate. All of the “comic pros” have moved on, and have very little to do with the current drama.

If you want to set up a separate thread where you dox a bunch of comic SJWs, go right ahead. It just has barely anything to do with CG anymore, and attempting to force it “back” to what it used to be isn’t going to go well.

First Fandom Menace was a collective reaction against Hollywood's abuse of a popular franchise and its fandom. Then it was a monetized community based around that. Then the community's oligarchs began aiding and abetting Hollywood abusing the community and fandom out of a misguided desire for clout. It's a story that's been repeated time and time again but rarely so linearly.

Outside of a few, insignificant number of works like Stealing Solo and a couple of fanfilms, all Fandom Menace produced was thousands of hours of clickbait filled with performative outrage. At least the Reylo community managed to get a kissing scene at the end of Episode Nine as well as making an ocean of one-handed art and fanfic.

Beyond the retarded chronicles of "Author Stephen Walton" (below), what accomplishments will the Fandom Menace be remembered for? Being treated with a modicum of respect by Zack Snyder cost Snyder nothing, somehow wound up costing the audience tens of thousands of dollars, and they couldn't even get that before their own leaders turned on them.

He also slow walked his way there; making sure to avoid the initial onslaught of those early months, denying he was CG until his long history of trolling and the Trumpening led to him being targeted for cancellation. He got people like Waid and Slott to come on his stream in part because he was 'neutral' looking for a third way. He certainly wasn't criticizing mainstream, SJW comics on stream.

He declared after he was already on his way out at DC, long after others took the first, terrifying steps of consumer advocacy. Funnily, he pretends to forget Cumming's name and cites Englantine as those CG figures. A bit of creative omission to buff his narrative.

Most of the actual period where CG was a consumer advocacy movement, Ethan was on the sidelines. He asserts that he turned to crowd funding. It's more like he entered CG when it was already turning to crowdfunding and the Indies. This was why he rubbed people like Tim Lim wrong, wasn't it? The gate portion had happened and was over. People like the Rags team and Tim Lim were working there way to CG, getting some support, and generally trying to turn it to their works. Then Ethan and his cancelled buddies came in. Yet...

Despite this, Ethan's right.

He simply has a channel, and its the CG audience, or what remains of it, that chose to follow him. He can't lead them where they won't go. Instead, he simply stepped into a movement that like GG was already done and repurposed it for himself and his peers. Anyone displaced at that point was either trying to do the same or was clinging to their fifteen minutes of fame.

This is where Ethan trumps Stephen Walton! Froggy bastard that he is, Ethan spoke for the sentiment of the audience. Walton is defending Cucks and Clicks orbitor channels.

Ethan concludes by noting that Stephen Walton! has another book in his magnum opus of the Fandom Menace coming out and that this horrific attack on him was probably a grift.
