Another massively overdue book Monster M.D by Von Klaus is finally entering fulfillment.
I received mine. It's actually pretty good, despite being over a year late at this point. I'd give it a solid 7.5/10, which makes it maybe a 9.2 by CG standards. Clips along at a nice pace and hits about all the beats you'd expect. You might say it's a bit predictable, but it at least shows that Von understands classic storytelling, which is much more than I can say for most CG "writers." The art is very nice as well, if you like something a bit cartoonish but still adequately detailed. However, my 'tism kicked in when I saw a couple of glaring grammatical errors. The team had over a year's worth of extra time to work on and refine this book, yet it comes out with these easily identified errors that should've been caught in any basic read-through by a proofreader... or.... the """editor""" of the book, one "Brandon Crowther," a name I'm not familiar with. So these errors made it past the writer, letterer, and editor during production and however many readings of the book were done before printing/after receiving proofs (though I believe I've heard Eric Weathers say that he just copy-pastes text from the script for lettering, so maybe he doesn't pay attention to potential errors). Also several spots where commas should've been placed, but weren't. All that being said, there were far fewer mistakes in this book than the vast majority of what we see from CG, so I'll be a bit forgiving. It's just frustrating to me and shows lack of attention to detail for what was otherwise a book that seems to have a lot of love and care put into it.

Getting fed up with this shit. It's getting to the point that I am not going to buy a second book from a group of four people (Writer, Editor, Letterer, Proofer) who can't fucking write English properly between them.

Pencil neck, Mitch "The Bitch" Breitweiser put out an update on his massively late Red Rooster campaign asking backers to finalize their addresses as the books have been printed and are ready to fulfill. In a complete lack of self awareness Mitch includes a promotional pamphlet for "The Saints" which allegedly is coming soon to Indiegogo, my fucking sides!!!

Other quick updates include:
  • Graveyard Shift creator Jon Malin launched a swim suit variant cover for Graveyard Shift 3 which as of writing has raised $50,917 from 684 backers in its first week of funding.

Mitch Breitweiser surprised the world by actually showing Red Rooster books being signed and in the process of fulfillment. @Adamska any thoughts on this?
To add to this update, Mitch has been posting some of his head sketches to fb:

They're fine & all, but for comparison's sake, here are some of the head sketches from Brian Stelfreeze's Thomas River, which crowdfunded on both KS & IGG, & was considerably less late:
media-57-1.jpg
It's available from the publisher--12-Gauge--now, & it's a gorgeous book, because Stelfreeze wasn't trying to engineer a Wal-Mart deal; he was, y'know, drawing comics.

Also, Malin's been dealing with youtube hypocrisy during his crowdfund. Kenneth Rocaforte did this swimsuit variant for the campaign:

But youtube had a problem with Jon using it in a thumbnail:

Young Rippa makes some excellent points in this video that do a great job of encapsulating a lot of my thoughts on CG. EVERY SINGLE CG CREATOR should watch this video and take notes. To sum up a few of his points:

-Just being an alternative to the mainstream does not necessarily make you their competition
-Your books must actually be good for people to invest in them both financially and emotionally
-If you want to actually compete with the mainstream, you need to bring your S-class game
-You are not owed support just because you're not from Marvel/DC
-Do your research and realize what made Marvel/DC great, back when they were great

I think the last point is something people really need to pay more attention to. Yes, you're trying to offer competition to today's Marvel and DC (which are complete garbage), but how are you going to build up a name and a following if what you're putting out is hardly any better than their current work, if at all? You need to build yourself up with great work. You need to be competing with Marvel and DC at their best, or else your IPs will not see long-lasting support. You might ride the CG wave for the next couple of years and see a profit, but if you're actually trying to build yourself a brand, a universe, a fanbase... you've gotta step it up.

I've voiced my displeasure over plenty of poor CG books in this thread, but I back so many books because I sincerely want CG to be great and I want a true alternative to the mainstream that actually competes with it. I want to help newcomers get their start in comics if they actually have the talent and the drive to keep moving forward and to build something amazing. I'm tired of seeing the lack of care or effort put into these books and the lack of self-awareness from the creators over the true quality of what they're putting out. Having a dream is great, but please get some actual, honest feedback from neutral parties who won't sugarcoat their words like most other CG creators will. And PLEASE hire competent editors and send your books to lots of people for proofreading before you put out your book that reads like it was written by an ESL fifth grader. Are you actually, truly proud of the work you're putting out? Would you say that it could stand up against the greats from Marvel and DC? Prove to me that you care. If you can't form proper sentences, hire a writer and you can just oversee the plot. CG has very few notable writers who would actually stand a shot in the mainstream during its glory days. And if you think you're one of them, in all likelihood you're not.

Get Zack and his people in there too (as long as he does a lot of Jawbreakers and regardless of his livestreaming or not), some Cecil-penned comics and you are on track to create a backyard comicbook kingdom.

Meanwhile, Perch's comic book industry buddies are salty his videos get posted here:
All you losers getting your panties in a bunch, we do this to roast @FROG and his merry band of retards.

Honestly he rides that fence so hard. At this point I think he's a lefty who wants to cut a deal with the alt left, but he can't. You can't reason with people who are so deluded in their thinking they actually believe they are fated to win no matter what.

I say that, but he denies the alt-right exists in that video. When you deny the groups causing the problem even exist, you're worse than useless.

I'll take a stab at a plan.

1. The ComicsGate branding is never going to be something the mainstream media or vast majority of comic sites/forums will accept as anything but <insert the worst thing ever>.

2. The ComicsGate branding is extremely valuable right now to generate interest from a large enough audience who come for the SJW shitshow of the day/week and stay for the quality product.

3. That ability to generate interest isn't going to last since the SJW freaks are so one dimensional in their shitshows. There's only so many times people are going to tune into another male feminist comics personality being outed as a creep or predator. And the same goes for the most of the other SJW comics shitshows.

4. Comics, Gaming, Anime, Manga, Movies, and TV Shows all have a large enough audience who want their products free of the endless and boring SJW/Identity Politics crap that have spawned the various -gate movements.

5. There is enough cash being generated by ComicsGate and other similar creators to start creating sites that cover all those forms of media - but have absolutely nothing to do with any of the -gate movements. Or independent youtube style news and reviews channels.

6. Obviously no one is going to want to read a shill site or channel for CyberFrog. But the claim of ComicsGate and other -gate movements is that they just want honest reviews and news and let the chips fall where they may.

7. Quietly contact people who you know are sympathetic in the above list of media types and there should be more than enough to funds for at least one professional looking and feeling site that covers everything. Possibly add in a crowd funding campaign that should be able draw from a large amount of people from all the media categories. You would need to have the discipline to not just fund some site that all your product gets 10/10s, obviously.

8. Essentially do the opposite of Trump announcing his own social network. That was a mind boggling dumb thing to do. He should have never made public his involvement. Instead he should have just started posting there and the masses from the Left and Right would have not be able to resist joining to fight the Orange Man or keep up with their God Emporer.

9. In the same spirit as quiet, background funding of independent media, setting up some sort of insurance for ComicsGate type content creators could possibly be quite cheap if you also spread it across the media categories listed above. As anyone who follows the Culture Wars knows, the number of people attacking and harassing content creators is a fairly small group of sick fucks. An ideal situation to pay a relatively small amount for a shared risk for a large number of content creators. A single content creator right now doesn't have much of a chance against these sick fucks when they orchestrate their mass flagging attacks on their secret Discord channels or the like. But paying some relatively small amount of an insurance type premium by independent creators should be able to fund the legal weapons to take the fight to these SJW nutcases.

Ideally the ComicsGate name would be left behind to a neutral independent media creator type branding similar to a rocket staging for orbit.

I've found my interest rapidly waning with the SJW drama. I've seen it all before over the past few years. I would never have found out about CyberFrog without the drama, but going forward I doubt I will have enough interest to keep watching the latest SJW shitshow to know about future work of yours and others.

It's just copium at this point. Like Doug's "Da Steal" videos. That whole narrative is a cheap way to avoid facing reality.

Time for another Comicsgate News Update

FROM INDIEGOGO
Ya Boi Zack recently posted an updated on his Expendables campaign announcing that despite not hitting the 300K stretch goal, all backers will now be receiving a pair of dogtags. Zack states that "These are not novelty items, but rather actual metal dog tags made by the same people who manufacture dog tags for the United States military!" Considering how overdue the Expendables is, this seems like a gesture of goodwill towards disgruntled backers.

Resident cuckhold and pizza aficionado Donal Delay/@Fathead gave an update stating that 90% of the domestic orders for Brutas the Badass have now been shipped.

FROM THE TWITTERVERSE
The gals from Rewriting Ripley announced via twitter that part two of their Star Wars podcast is now live titled "In Plain Sight Part 2: You Are Not Immune to Propaganda."

In a previous tweet the gals also announced that the initially two part podcast will now feature a third episode, whether this will contain information pertaining to recent events is currently unknown.

Our own beloved @FROG appears to be being blamed for Lindsay Ellis recently nuking her twitter account after being harassed by SJWs for some reason. Links to Lindsay's thread and the beginning of the drama are linked above.

FROM YOUTUBE
Worlds collided when @FROG joined @VIkkiVerse, DA Talks and Darth Daddy Lunga for a stream discussing the current drama brewing between Comicsgate and The Fandom Menance, which mostly involved a lone crazy Fandom Menace historian bitching about Frog.

Dark Gift Comics hosted a "Neutral Grounds" stream which was largely uninteresting until Jon Del Arroz / @TheCosmicWarrior came on and got into an argument with Panboy Donglover. The bloodsports begin almost immediately as Jon joins at 1:34:07.

The Comic Book Hut hosted Douglas Ernst to talk about his sequel to the very well received Soulfinder series which recently avoided crowdfunding and went straight to Tim Lim's online store Iconic Comics.

Milquetoast meets Milk Toast as Michael Bancroft hosted Sweetcast to talk about whether crowdfunding is an outdated model and online stores similar to Iconic Comics and Clint's new online store are the future of Comicsgate.

Perch reports on Marvel leaving Diamond Distribution for Penguin Random House.

He then did a follow up video giving an analysis on the situation.

Mitch Breitweiser surprised the world by actually showing Red Rooster books being signed and in the process of fulfillment. @Adamska any thoughts on this?

And finally after producing a video reporting on the Geeks and Gamers vs Zack Snyder drama, Preston Poulter follows up with a fresh video pushing his own theory that the Fandom Menace and Comicsgate are currently locked in some kind of tard cold war.

Just a brief update today on some of the happenings you may have missed over the past week in Comicsgate. I had another story to write up but I felt it might be too long to include in the regular update, I'll type it up soon enough after someone else comments so as not to double post.

As always take care and stay safe out there. :bluelabel:

great update Smug. I just...I feel like people aren't getting my point from above at least.

I think it's a little sad and mostly funny that there are people stupid enough to buy in at this point. I'm not even judging Frog or CG or the Fandom Menace. People who are true believers after all that's happened are fools and there's no point feeling bad for them. Honestly Ethan's comic is good enough independent of the outrage.

I'm hope things keep going, because these last few years have been a riot. CG gave us Liam Grey, Preston, and Mitch Breitweiser. The Fandom Menace has given us countless hours of fun, with the Zach Snyder crap just the latest. Whether Ethan flames out or continues to clown his e-enemies, we get something fun to watch.

Also, Malin's been dealing with youtube hypocrisy during his crowdfund.

Eh, fuck Liefeld Junior. Guys an ass.

Kenneth Rocaforte did this swimsuit variant for the campaign:
View attachment 2039778

Man, that's trashy. But y'know, I love Ken Roccafort. Fucking sucks DC didn't do more with him and now he's in CG land, where he'll do a quarter of a normal output .

But youtube had a problem with Jon using it in a thumbnail:

I'd say he is an old center-left that used to vote for Dem or center-right progressive libertarian. So, nevertrumper but also non-SJW.
He can't go either way, not based or redpilled enough to go into CG and too afraid to lose the CG audience.

So he tiptoes around denouncing CG and spills some tea on the industry at the same time.
So, he annoys both equally but will hardly get cancelled.

Now, the dreaded alt-right...
Let's just call those people for what they are: spergs obsessed so hard with capeshit that have made political ideologies out of them.
Yes, some alt-righters like Martina Markota carpetbagged into CG and there is some overlap between MRAs, incel, geek manbabies and the alt-right but at this point, the name has lost all meaning and has become a strawman, same with SJWs.

Lot of important truths in this video, one thing that I wish he added was the matter of flooding (I have no idea what's the right term for it). Everyone and their mother is producing something on an independent level and a lot of it reaches the okay quality.

Back when mangadex(a manga/manhwa/manhua sharing site) was alive I'd leave it open in a tab and it would refresh the main page periodically with newly added content, something new popped up LITERALLY every 2 minutes. Not only you have to compete with a select high quality professionals but a sea of people exactly like you. I can understand why he'd skip this though, he was shooting for positivity.

Great point. As much as CG creators like to support each other, they truly are each other's competition. The indie comics market is being bombarded with new creators and books. There comes a time where someone has to decide whether to back this CG creator or that one. It's great to support others in your field and I enjoy seeing that in CG, but you as a creator must try to ensure that your product is better than those of your friends, peers, etc. This will not only drive customers to your product, but it should (ideally) motivate your peers to get better with each work they put out. Just like it used to be with Marvel/DC or Nintendo/Sega. Support the hell out of others in CG, but try to demolish them in terms of quality. That's not to say you should directly brag about your product being better than someone else's, but rather let the customers see it for themselves on the IGG pages and in the customer reviews.

Yaboi has a message for comicsgate.
The lack of self awareness from Zach to be making that speech while promoting sub Squirrel Girl level art in 499 is mind boggling.
1617095783938.png

I know Narwhal's art is a "style" and he's got some talent but the excuses used to defend Squirrel Girl art are the same excuses used to defend this unfinished shit.

Narwhal's style is selling pages of crude thumb nailed layouts as finished product and art like this wouldn't get him a meeting with the Squirrel Girl editor if he was a black Hispanic differently abled lesbian Muslim trans kid with a lazy eye.

Meyer is right about Slott's bullying but he should also consider how Narwhal's art would fair if the popular artists of the Deviant Art set decided to take this as a challenge and "paint over" this page.

73K and counting.

It never twigged before, but Narwhal's art reminds me of a panel from Art School Confidential. Guess which.

The whole thing if I could find all the pages online is required reading for anyone who thinks of diving into comicsgate crowdfunding. Except take the last panel literally.

Please let's not kid ourselves. Don't insult squirrel girl by comparing it to 499, SG is the sistine chapel compared to this rubbish. Narwhal's only "talent" is he's better at using MSPaint than a hobo with no computer.

Zack is 100% a clown. At this point he should dawn war paint and a headdress and change his name to dances-with-spergs. He talked a big game and when he finally got his shot to work on a licensed IP he blew it and put himself on par with Cash Grab, barely beating TUG.

Ethan has made more selling plastic Frog statues than the Expendables made. Why? Because sleazy E actually promotes his shit and despite being one of youtubes biggest autism magnets focuses on one project at a time.

YBZ frequently gets a "free pass" but he definitely doesn't deserve it. His videos suck. His comics suck. He's deeply entrenched with Troy "paypiggons" and he has ZERO customer interaction. A world where SJW Marvel is considered shit but 499 and wart the wizard are good is a mirror universe of clown world where there's somehow more clowns.

Fuck Richard Meyer. He went from based to paste so fast its like going from a guy who smokes blunts rolling on triple gold Daytons to sucking tranny dick behind the pizza parlour.

It's hard to be wrong about Slott. The guy is a fat faggot neckbeard loser.

Richard Meyer was never really based from what I've seen. He was a goofy semi-likable comics nerd spouting off about shit that was pissing a lot of people off in the right place (YouTube) at the right time (2016-2017) which led to viral popularity he managed to cash in on so he could make his mediocre comics.

There's nothing really wrong with Meyer. He just doesn't live up to his Christ (or maybe Moses) figure rep with the ComicsGate set. They're all pissed off he isn't leading them to the promised land and he just wants to get out his Etsy level writing like any other wannabe comics writer. When I first saw his videos I said to myself, "What the fuck is happening at Marvel? And why is this goof broadcasting from a closet." I never thought he'd be anything special as a writer just because he was mostly right in his criticism of lazy fuck writers like Slott and Simone.

Good for him that he managed to use viral video fame to make his dream come true though. It's a testament to his YouTube sperg whisperer powers that some still follow him given the fact that his channel is staler than a cracker under the couch and his comics are the epitome of "meh".

The best thing Meyer has managed to do in comics was replacing Malin with much better talent on Godking. Other than that he's managed nothing of note artistically.

It's more that he got lazier and lazier and more hypocritical as he got going too. Rules for the crap comic writers barring the ones he's buddy-buddy with and all that. Also he's gotten a lot more "fuck it just buy it" and can't be arsed to advertise like he used to. Actually that mindset was probably part of the reason why I decided to fuck off from this thread for a good while if I had to seriously think on that one.

Feels man. Though I don't know that has as much to do with the quality of the comic as with Simple Zach's refusal to do basic things like Livestream or Twitter.

Ethan has made more selling plastic Frog statues than the Expendables made. Why? Because sleazy E actually promotes his shit and despite being one of youtubes biggest autism magnets focuses on one project at a time.

Having spent the better part of a year writing them up, I remain amazed how little he's evolved. Most breadtubers start like him and level up. But he's still the same.

No animation, no intro, nothing really original content wise. Even Splatto was taken from America and mocked up by a fan.

He's deeply entrenched with Troy "paypiggons"

Haven't heard from him in a while.

True, and he's irrelevant at this point outside of Marvel/DC.

I'd say he is an old center-left that used to vote for Dem or center-right progressive libertarian. So, nevertrumper but also non-SJW.
He can't go either way, not based or redpilled enough to go into CG and too afraid to lose the CG audience.

Too afraid to move or say anything that may offend, thus he goes nowhere and rarely says anything of value.

It's like his Whor take.

The lack of self awareness from Zach to be making that speech while promoting sub Squirrel Girl level art in 499 is mind boggling.

It did a lot better than I thought it would.

I am not going to shit on the art style, the video game Another World has a very similar art style and it has been a very influential piece of media. What I am curious about is how Zack's "2000 backers or it's a failure" rule will apply to his latest endeavors. Impossible Stars barely hit that number (and it did so after the 60 day campaign run IIRC) and 499 and Rock'n'Roll Ninja are hovering around 50-60% of that.

The man has infinite goodwill from the community and all he'd have to do is fire up a live stream at the end of the week and do a review on 3-4 comic books Kayfabe style to generate/keep interest.

i think the point is that Zack has made a career out of shitting on people’s bad art so, for him come out with something like this is hypocrisy at it’s finest. Really, he should have been called out on it with Iron Sights 1 because the art in that book sucked ass too.

Like when one can objectively say that Erica Henderson’s run on Squirrel Girl had better art than your book, there is a problem.
