Yeah, what the fuck was the point of that? I spent more time wondering why he did that than I did thinking about his retarded "riddle".
Frog's been weirdly sporadic lately.
Last night's stream as well as today's stream appear to have been set to Members only earlier today, which I don't recall @FROG doing for his content before. I don't even recall EVS mentioning channel memberships in the past. It may be an error or bug (or I could just be out of the loop). I didn't catch all of last night so I dunno if he addressed the earlier, deleted, ill-advised, shitpost stream but last night he did give his usual spiel about how he doesn't want to be a professional YouTuber and how he's strictly a professional comic artist [citation needed], much to the chagrin of those who will never get that 6-minutes of their life back.

Overall regarding YT, the frog merchant doth protest too much, methinks. I think he loves and is committed to YouTube. Maybe the pressure is mounting and he's taking it out on his loyal viewership. I mean, just look at what's become of his beard of the past month! And the hair on his chest has completely fallen out! Poor guy is working himself to death.

He's talked about them before but it's been a couple of years. IIRC, members got Cyberfrog emojis or some shit and a free members only trading card. I guess now they get free shitpost streams too.

The trading card gimmick was expanded when he started peddling channel memberships. Originally they were pitched as campaign exclusives but when that changed to requiring monthly Youtube AND Patreon subscriptions in addition to backing campaigns in order to ever obtain a complete set interest in them seemed to collapse.

He attempted to do this back when the membership program started, but he boomer'd it on his first few attempts and kept uploading the members only streams publicly.

He used to talk about it more but pulled back after realizing monthly cards were creating an insurmountable workload for him.

Frog is as stubborn about youtube as Zack is about comics. There's no doubt Frog has a decent understanding of what works on youtube, and I agree that he genuinely enjoys being a broadcaster, but he simply refuses to stay on track for more than a few days. How many times has he proclaimed he was going back to recorded videos, only to revert back to exclusively 4+ hour streams a week later?
He knows exactly what he would have to do to push his channel to 200k. Make more recorded videos. Make more drawing videos. Talk about Star Wars. Less blindly shilling books that 100% of the audience already knows about. No more dicking around with IRL microtransactions and stratifying fans into economic tiers. But he just...wont.

Seriously, what was accomplished in 2021? The doll? Producing a doll that nobody asked for was worth the current collapse?

inb4 Frog abandons comics and pivots his business to exclusively trading cards, shortly before abandoning physical cards and selling the images as NFT's.

Is he even that knowledgeable? I don't think he's ready many (if any) of the EU books. And you can only cut up so many action figures.
He's not even remotely knowledgeable about Star Wars, but that's not really the point. People just want to hear him talk about Rose Tico and Rey's big dumb chicklet teeth and Hutt skeletons. He's exactly as knowledgeable as he needs to be, and his few attempts to delve deeper into the lore have exposed him as a hypocrite and a fair-weather fan.
He will never explore the Clone Wars multimedia project or the Shadow of the Empire multimedia project, despite them essentially being a template for what he's currently attempting to do with Cyberfrog. He will never read the Thrawn Trilogy, he will never play the KotOR games. He doesn't give a shit.
It doesn't help that he's surrounded by overgrown children who think Filoni's Clone Wars is required viewing. Frog would absolutely loathe Filoni's Clone Wars and the fact that his simps don't realize this and continue recommending it is hilarious to me.

Ethan is a pretty standard representation of your average normie who likes Star Wars. These generally are people who have seen the movies (or most of them anyway) but haven't read the EU stuff or played the RPGs or whatever device is used to flesh out the retarded SW lore that never made it to the movie screen because the people responsible for it never thought about it that much. All the Star Wars deep lore was made well after the fact and has constantly had to work its way around shit as time goes on because the movies take precedence over whatever details a comic book or trading card game may have established as "lore". Now that the Mouse has effectively scrapped nearly all that stuff, the knowledge of it amounts to exactly jack shit.

Star Wars is entry level nerdism for normal people. The movies were cultural phenomenons that were nearly inescapable in the late 70s and early 80s, so one could like Star Wars and not feel like they were a member of some esoteric order of socially inept super dorks obsessing over the minutiae of Star Trek or Doctor Who or some other long running thing with a lot of backstory. Nobody was going to get shoved in a locker or have their head flushed in a toilet for wearing a Star Wars shirt to school. It's accessible fantasy with a sci-fi setting that doesn't require the average person to think about things too deeply or whatever nerds do with actual science fiction and without the social cost of being seen as some kind of cystic acne infested, dateless sperg.

If there's a spectrum of Star Wars autism in CG adjacent circles, Ethan would be on the lower, normie end of it (pretty much focused only on the movies), Anna would be somewhere in the middle (probably read several comics and books, maybe played some of the games), and Ryan Kinel would be on the far end (has consumed most of the media outside the movies, currently hates the property but can't stop consooming).

The problem is Frog has firmly placed himself in the Anti-Disney camp, where all of that stuff actually does mean jack shit. And he's clueless about nearly all of it. He wants to have his cake and eat it too, to be considered a "great big star wars fan" while never having to spend time consuming the media that qualifies one as a great big Star Wars fan by the metrics of his own side.

This is precisely why I believe his SW videos do so well, and why I don't think deepening his knowledge of the lore is a worthwhile pursuit. If your average youtube viewer wanted to watch an uncharismatic turbo-sperg rant about the minutia of the space wizard movie, Ryan Kinel would have more subs than Frog. People want something light to listen to while their folding laundry or driving to work. This is where Frog excels.

The Star Wars outrage grift worked better back when fans thought if they grouped together and made their voices heard loudly enough then surely Disney (Marvel, DC, etc) would capitulate and revert back to their traditional roots instead of risking further collapse.

Nope. Turns out those companies don't give a fuck about the boomers. So what's the point of still being outraged after 5-6 years of this without making so much as a dent?

Being a "great big Star Wars fan" to an average person probably just means you've seen the movies 10 times or something, so to them I suppose EVS fits the bill particularly when he does something like spending hundreds of dollars on a Jabba statue.

Now, I'd have to say that it's probably not beyond the realm of possibility that a great many "normie" level SW fans probably hate the Disney shit too. You don't need to have read a bunch of novels and comics to understand that the character of Luke Skywalker was thoroughly assassinated or to scratch your head at the decision to never let Han, Luke, and Leia share a single scene together, or wonder what the fuck it was all about to begin with since none of the questions were really answered in a satisfactory way and the characters are flat and not well realized. If one is a huge sperg that has invested time and energy consuming that extra material, they're probably personally offended and filled with nerd rage by the Disney shit. But one needn't be a Kinel level SW sperg to be in the Anti-Disney camp. It seems plainly evident that most self-professed SW fans are normies and that a great many of them don't like the Disney shit, or at least enough of them to sustain pretty good views for a YT channel focused primarily on one guy and his comic books.

For me, EVS solidified his normie level fandom when he recently declared Return of the Jedi as the best SW movie.

I realize I probably made it sound like one is required to consume all auxiliary media to hate Disney SW and that is definitely not the case, you're correct. I once watched voice actor Crispin Freeman interrupt an anime panel at a con to give a 30 minute lecture on why Disney SW is terrible. Hating Disney SW doesn't require a deep knowledge of Star Wars, it merely requires some semblance of taste. I'm sorry if I implied any different.

We must be hanging around different social groups because I was actually fairly impressed by that. For a few years now it's become popular to bash RotJ whilst regarding ANH and ESB as the literal breath of God. It would have been very easy (and safe) for him to fall in line with this sentiment, but instead he goes and picks the least popular OT movie as his favorite, and is actually able to back it up with specific scenes he enjoyed.
The true normie opinion would have been to proclaim ESB as his favorite.

Yesterday I was thinking about how cool it would be if someone did a Mr. Plinkett-style review of the original trilogy, shitting all over all the little inconsistencies, plot holes, flubs and bad acting in them the way RLM took out the prequels. There's plenty of material.

Frog grew his channel by manufacturing hopium about Kathleen Kennedy getting fired, he taught Doomock everything he knows! He really thought he was the anti-SJW answer to Grace Randolph in the summer of 2018. He genuinely seemed to believe the BS being fed to him by his Doomcockian 'sources', LOL.

The heyday of the Fandom Menace was May 2018, when Solo bombed - that summer Frog manufactured massive amounts of hopium about Kennedy's imminent dismissal as his channel blew up with gullible Star Wars-loving marks. Then Kennedy's contract was renewed around October I believe, and Frog was utterly humiliated and crushed, his credibility as a rumour-monger smashed into the garbage can along with his Disney toys. So then he moved onto trying to scupper Captain Marvel, but then got crushed there too and stopped talking about movies generally after that.

The last breath of the Fandom Menace was The Rise of Skywalker in late 2019, which is when the mainstream media and massively-overrated internet critics like Red Letter Media had to finally capitulate and admit that JJ Abrams is a hack, and the new trilogy is a complete failure. At that point, with the movie being slammed by the fans AND the mainstream critics, there wasn't really any pushback from shill media the way there was with TLJ and Solo. So the fans 'won', but they also kind of killed the opponent.

But somewhere, out there on Youtube, the TRUE leader of the Fandom Menace is still going strong at 286K subs... with no fewer than 7,497 videos... all like this...

Who's this, @FROG? Come on, you know! Don't act like you don't know... he taught YOU everything YOU know!

Somehow I don't think comedy skits about using RAID to gas the prostitutes in the crawlspace would fly in 2022 the same way they did in 2010. I'm sure Jon Malin would enjoy it though.

Mike really fucked himself with that JJ Abrams recommendation in the Plinkett prequel reviews. He's gonna carry that weight.

Outlawing involuntary civil commitment was a mistake.
