Its really not about the idea that "this Batman sucks". This comic is a prequal to the actual main series (this IS the origin of the Absolute Batmobile) and as such should be taken more as this version of Batman learning his own boundries and his own philosophy.

DM is better off going after things that matter and people he KNOWS will respond.
