So I read some issues one of the more recent cancelled DC comics, The Unexpected, a cosmic story made to expire the ramifications of Dark Nights: Metal. Here is a taste of the writing quality, from THE UNEXPECTED ISSUE #7:
You say you're the Anti-God Mandrakk? Good thing I'm an atheist." - Neon the Unknown, real name Colin Nomi, who got his powers through a Satanic ritual that allowed him to see the place where worlds are born and gave him the Fires of Creation.
Shit makes even less sense when Batman called himself an atheist. At least Batman had an excuse (his disbelief in a grand design for the universe) and his atheism was a bit more nuanced.
Colin Nomi is just dumb. The best you could say was that line was a joke.
Fuck, this comic run was just terrible n general.
Mandrakk was made to look weak as fuck somehow, despite being portrayed in the comic as a clear multiversal threat.
Why are Hawkman and Firebrand withstanding any of Mandrakk's attacks, when Mandrakk is literally too big to fit inside the normal multiverse? Hell, how are they even able to be in Nil, the Monitor World, which is beyond the regular multiverse altogether?
This is supposed to be a tribute to Grant Morrison and his works, but it would have been better if they just shit on all of them. Oh wait, they already did with this miniseries.
Just goes to show what happens when you try to write something based on someone else's mythopoeia in spite of only having the most superficial understanding of them, and of the absolute state of DC comics right now. No wonder they're cancelling comics so quickly.
Dark Nights: Metal was interesting, but later writers had to go and turn its effects on the greater DC multiverse into s convoluted mess.

My Jawbreakers came today. It was in no worse condition than I’d expect from a book labeled “Like New” on Amazon with only a few scuffs on the edges from the packaging. Can’t complain.

Oh geez, this is bad... I mean is there even a remote sense of internal consistency left in capeshit at this point? Even Batman's "atheism" (in a comic from last year) was actually not literal atheism according to the comic's author, it was more of an internal spiritual confusion over the state of his messed up life and an unwillingness to engage in worship rather than a rejection of the divine or supernatural, so it makes sense within context and his struggle to make sense of his life and messed up world, same with the old New Earth Mr. Terrific, but this... I don't even know what the fuck they're trying to do here. Makes those previous stories look deep and truly nuanced by comparison. This is what happens when an author tries to do his own thing using someone else's legacy instead of at least trying to follow the simple line of consistency set up by his predecessors. Its like DC and Marvel only want to prove who can outdo one another in terms of worst writing and development now. Oh well, just more passengers for the cancellation train. I mean, if the guy really wanted to do his own thing, he could've at least set up his own universe with its own rules and different superhero origins instead of completely derailing a previous writer's concepts, or better yet, make up your own original shit instead of piggybacking off someone else's ideas. But that just seems to be the standard now...

I just got mine too. Bottom edges are a little scuffed, but otherwise it's fine. Genuinely happy that Meyer got his book out despite the setbacks.

It was pretty cheap tbh. Just a basic cardboard sleeve with no inner lining of any type. If the weather was bad it could easily have been ruined, and I can see how the texture of the sleeve could damage the cover.

I have been noticing a small but significant resurgence of SJW/leftist content on YouTube, presumably as a queer sort of backlash to the wave of Anti-SJW content that had endured since 2016.
Now, whether the SJW arguments are sound and valid is another thing entirely, as shown here.
"Get woke, go broke" is not a lie, it is simple fact. I can already tell that the person making the video is utilizing some rhetorical tricks to make his argument seem more true than in actually is.

It would be a backlash towards Anti-SJW content, especially since it can also mean easy money if you're able to churn out videos for a patreon to get people to donate to because you put out some spergy political opinions.
Their retorts to "get woke, go broke" beyond trying to dissect some spergs is likely using any Marvel movie that made money. Sure those make a lot of money but that's because of the name and what it's being slapped on to and what markets are being reached. Marvel Comics are more likely to go broke than Marvel Movies simply because the latter is likely to attract more people.

At 1:36 he claims the phrase originated from an interview conducted in April 2018. That seems pretty unlikely, given that the term was used at least far back as December 2017. Viz:

I am finding use of the term a bit thin on the ground prior to April 2018, but man, I'm sure I've seen it in use for several years now. I sincerely doubt the asshats at PJMedia are smart enough to have coined the term, at any rate.

The video is dripping with unintentional irony. He accuses Quarter Pounder and the anti-SJW crew of throwing around "regressive buzzwords" while himself leaning on dumb buzzwords like "reactionary," "regressive," "rageosphere," "representation," and, of course,"white CIS hetero."
He also falls into the same trap as most lefties who try to debunk right-wing memes by claiming that the meme is wrong because whatever the right is making fun of is actually a good and noble thing. (ie corporations aren't getting woke, they're just getting better!)
I'm not going to waste my time going line-by-line to refute the dude because, honestly, he's so dull he makes Quarter Pounder look like a grand orator by comparison.
But I will end with some advice in case the kid somehow finds his way here:
-You're not smart because you use the NPR voice and toss around words like "reactionary."
-If you want to persuade people, you need to refute your opponent's strongest argument, not merely point to minor flaws in his weakest.
-Talk to people who disagree with you so that you can better understand how they think. This will improve your ability to communicate with them.
-You need a strong thesis statement in the beginning and end of your videos, as well as at the start of any subtopic. This will create a throughline to your arguments, which will help people follow your arguments and improve your ability to communicate.

Mine came with the top literally ripped, like it had already been opened. I remember thinking "what a cheap envelope" but immediately forgot, as most people would, when when I saw the book itself was pristine.
Didn't even cross my mind until I saw Zach's video. I guess I was one of the lucky ones.

Metal had some interesting ideas but the entire ending was god-awful beyond belief. And it's made worse by the fact that it was rushed into production to counter program Marvel's infamous Secret Empire X0ver and Geoff Johns pissing off Dan DiDio when Johns demanded zero tie-ins/xovers for Doomsday Clock.
