Well, I guess it depends on what people wanted CG to be - either a direct competitor to the likes of Marvel, DC, and IDW or simply alternatives to enhance existing pull lists. In the beginning, it seemed to me that CG just strived to do its own thing while the big companies either succeeded in pushing their SJW agendas or failed, with people like EVS and D&C lighting the way. Then, as more and more titles were successfully funded, it morphed into a viable competitor.

The latter doesn't require much coordination and collectivizing while the former does. Trying to coalesce a bunch of disparate individuals onto a shared path while at the same time fending off attacks from the pro circuit sounds nigh impossible without extremely clear and well thought-out goal statements AND the commitment to follow such. It's this inability to find common ground which will forever haunt CG and relegate it to the sidelines instead of the forefront of the general consumer's mind.

It's interesting to hear D&C talk about CG (which he does infrequently), as you can tell he's not all-in with the movement, despite his notoriety and his (arguable) patient zero status. I occasionally wonder fairly hard where it'll be five or ten years from now.

Well, I watched the whole Doug/Mike thing play out, going back to the days both of them were brought in to CG. What happened after was the very definition of being stabbed in the back. So if he has a complex about it, I could understand why.

Doug and Mike, after being blacklisted for their vocal support for controversial Christian values, joined/were invited into Comicsgate which professed itself to be a consumer movement that called for customers to be treated with respect and to make good comics without the interference of the PC police. Then they were told in no uncertain terms by Cecil, Ro Kabir, and other closeted homosexuals like Ethan van Sciver, that voicing controversial Christian values was disrespecting customers who could be LGBT, and grounds for blacklisting in Comicsgate.

So it's clear that Doug and Mike were the backstabbers in this scenario.
