Just got my copy of Expendables.
Don't know when I'll get to reading it though.

What war? I didn't know there was one... but HI #COMICSGATEProviding background on the conflicts that as far as I'm aware are still ongoing. If not, someone please inform me otherwise
LMFAO just got around to opening up my Expendables package.
I backed the Meyer variant way back when. The book I was sent was the Kelsey variant.
I'm not even mad because of how the Meyer variant turned out. But I'm wondering how many books are going to be the wrong variants and such or if I just got lucky.
I think I also ordered the Myers variant, so I am curious as to what I am going to get. Did it come with dog tags?
Yeah, got the dog tags, patch, bookmark, cards and sticker plus the pin ups.
I think it's just the variant they messed up, but I'm happy with it. I really grew to regret backing the Meyer variant.
Just for information sake, I live relatively near Chicago so I guess use that to gauge speed of shipping if anyone cares. I think people in Georgia said they were getting it yesterday or Monday?
Edit: Apparently they're sending the books out in "stages" and stage 2 was supposed to be variants. So either I'm getting two books or there might be a big oopsie happening here.
Are you subscribed to his channel?
Yeah but honestly I stopped watching his vids a while ago. They just got kinda boring so I just read the synopsis here these days.
Was there some small update I missed about not being able to do all the variants or something? It'd make sense considering this whole cluster fuck.
Ah my bad I didn't catch that, I just assumed you weren't jumping on it since it wasn't on your twitter feed. I can just imagine the sea of quote tweets if you did it there too.I feel like we did that in ComicsGate Kings tonight. We declared a victory and circled the bases about it while leering at the Adam Hughes cover.
I might make a separate video too.
We were talking about how great a SHE HULK series could be, and Aaron Lopresti offered that attorney Jen Walters could find herself in the courtroom ruefully having to defend the creeps that her friends in the Avengers just brought to justice the week prior. It's such a simple and terrific idea that would get to the actual heart of who She Hulk is that I got a little sick at how far the comic industry has fallen. They'd NEVER do something that fun in 2021.
I think he said in that video, he's all over the place in it, that he'd be sending additional stuff to subscribers. I don't know, It was hard to keep track of everything he said. If he sent you a subscriber comp book before the other? holy shit that'd be weird.
Edit:
Went back. At the 4:47 mark he says for Patreon and channel members he's going to send out a link for a free copy of the book?
He uses a fulfillment company, right? The screw-up is probably on their end.Yeah, I'm definitely not a member of the channel or patreon. Just subscribed. I honestly think it was just a screw up, I'm just wondering how much of a screw up based on the process he described in one of the indiegogo updates.
Like you'd think my name/address would be completely removed from getting a Kelsey Shanon cover if they were all being kept separate from the other variants. It isn't even like I ever hounded Zach about it on IGG page or anything either, despite me bringing it up here a lot.
Have you checked out @PocketJacks' lawsuit against DA Talks, @VIkkiVerse, and @FROG?It's been a minute. I had to pull myself out of the Comicsgate hole for a bit because phew-boy it was getting suffocating in there.
What's been going on? What very important victories or defeats have I missed?
I've apparently been out of the loop for a lot longer than I thought, I've missed all the classic heel and face turns and re turns and missed deadlines and shit... I'll have to do some digging. I'll give this one a look, because fuck me that looks good.Have you checked out @PocketJacks' lawsuit against DA Talks, @VIkkiVerse, and @FROG?
If not, see thread: https://kiwifarms.net/threads/preston-poulter-et-al-v-ali-dean-assaf-et-al-2021.91503/
This is where the “don’t like American comics? Just read MANGA!” crowd just doesn’t get it.I've apparently been out of the loop for a lot longer than I thought, I've missed all the classic heel and face turns and re turns and missed deadlines and shit... I'll have to do some digging. I'll give this one a look, because fuck me that looks good.
@Mister Dongs I couldn't quote your review of Blathering Anna, I don't know why this guy said 'indie alternatives' but it seems like he's talking about lesser known shows that ARE well made/written, why did Anna take his tweet as not promoting indie comics when that wouldn't even be the logical comparison?
And I don't know his story, but he has a point. A lot of those channels sit there and bitch and complain about something we ALL know is trash, but instead of saying 'yeah well yet ANOTHER episode of Batwoman is dumb and shit, here's something else you could watch'... But again that would require these guys to actually sit and watch good content, and that takes energy out of watching the same bullshit episodes of Batwoman or Doctor Who and then complain about it and get those easy clicks.
It's part of why I had to move away from Yaboi and other comic reviewers, it's the same shit over and over, and it got boring. YES I know the next issue of Ms. Marvel is terrible, the last twelve have been. Show me some good shit, some hidden gems...
I got my copy of Expendables and read through it.
It's...okay I guess? I don't know, I kind of expected better from Dixon.
Call me exceptional or say I wasn't paying attention, but like...nothing is explained. They die and go to hell, and in hell everyone is just always fighting and at war. They die, they just come back to life and keep fighting. Which makes sense to me that they would just be in a constant state of battle. Makes sense.
But then for some reason they're told they are angels and they like need to legit kill Satan or take over his mountain or something? And for some reason Barney is gifted the spear of destiny that lets him kill demons *for good*?
And the crap about the tattoos. They're told their tattoos will give them power but I don't remember seeing anything like that. The most that happens is that Barney says his tattoo feels hot when he's close to Satan? And for some reason Musashi magically has the Expendables tattoo for...some reason?
Then Barney finally gets to Mt. Doom and Satan comes out and he just is kind of like "I'm getting you out of here, Billy." and instead of fighting Satan he just kind of saves their souls? Or something? But I thought they were angels?
And then he wakes up. And it's like "Oh, it was a dream. I guess that explains none of this shit making sense." but then the rest of the Expendables are like "Oh no, we remember hell too." and it's like "What?"
Also lmfao at having nothing for Toll Road to do so he just didn't die and pulled them out of the warzone, instead of having it be Trench who they mentioned being their extraction before dying.
And WTF was up with Tool? Like he shows up and it makes it sound like he's going to do something but he just fucks off never to show up again. I thought the "sub plot" with Christmas was pretty dumb too. Like she cheated on him in the first film but it was more like she left his ass for never telling her what he was up to. IIRC didn't they get married in the second film? That whole thing felt a lot more like something Barney would dream up but then it turns out it wasn't a dream...
Yeah, I don't know. Book is *really* all over the place for how fucking much YBZ said he was spending all this time making sure it was "perfect" which is really making me question how much of it he did write and how much Chuck wrote.
thats pretty much on par with Zack’s writing style. I doubt that Chuck had much input in the book with how OCD Zack is.
