He created CG. So the emotions people have for him are best described as nostalgia. Some cows occasionally engender feelings like that (i.e. Spoony/Noah Antwiler). They were perceived as good before bad.

But yeah, three years on, and it's officially gay now. There's absolutely ZERO chance he's gonna reverse the downward trend he's been on since abandoning the Waid lawsuit. It's folly to hold out hope otherwise. I hope @FROG finally gets that now.

We'll always have 2017-2018 Ya Boi but this guy isn't that guy. This guy is broken and fucked up.

Some observations.

1. Zack feels trapped by his life and circumstances, and instead of seeing all of this as an incredible blessing, he sees it as a prison he's built for himself.
2. He thinks everyone around him is crazy for enjoying what he sees as a trap and resents how they're encouraging him to stay put and decorate his cell.
3. This all comes from and adds to his severe anxiety.
4. He feels like he owes a debt to everyone for the lawsuit, which is partially why he's doing this JawBreakers loss leader book.
5. But if it were up to him, he'd never do another JawBreakers comic at all. That's 2018 Zack. Current Year Zack does one-and-dones and NarZack books.
6. He thinks CG is mad that he's had success on his own, through his own ideas, research and plans, and that we're jealously trying to reel him in. (This is common anti-CG rhetoric)
7. He's in denial about Doug Ernst and wants to protect him. Is angry that I found out about Comic Book Hut and made issue of it. It was better not to know in order to avoid "petty internet squabbles."

Richard thinks the reason I want him to do periodic livestreams or videos with me is to help him make money. And while that's part of it, the bigger reason is about the morale of ComicsGate and to create YouTube State of the Union events that raise the boats of all other creators. We're both at a pretty high level, and can't really help each other too much, but we're still supposed to be building an alternative and creating excitement for independent comics. He and I making a fun YouTube event once a month would generate tons of enthusiasm.

That might have been Zack in 2018. He definitely would have been a part of that then. But it isn't him now. He's going in a different direction that will eventually lead to his not making comics at all.

And that's his goal.

This is the problem with allowing the members of your "-gate" to act as free-range morons. This unworkable libertine philosophy is gay. It's what made Gamergate a laughing stock. No leadership means anyone is free to damage the brand with their vanity and stupidity. As Cecil continues to do. Any outside observer would look at Cash Grab and conclude that he's either the most incompetent person that ever lived, or the whole thing is a scam and he's never gonna fulfill.

A grown man in Snake Eyes cosplay who, according to his IGG profile, has backed tons of CG projects (including Anna's simp calendar) is in Zack's comments throwing out HAIL CG like that means a goddamn thing to Richard Meyer in 2022. He just mindlessly backs Zack's shit because he thinks Zack is still down with the cause.

My problem and laughs come at the design of this character, if it is part of the Rippaverse I think this looks stupid and incredibly generic.

His enumerated list isn't terribly off from what other people have been saying for years. I believe Zack is a fucking idiot, and FROG might have just had an extremely delayed realization that Zack is a fucking idiot.

Because I'm a nice guy, I'm gonna call that a "start." It's certainly a watershed moment for him. It's always been painfully bizarre watching FROG stick up for Zack here, even though he doesn't deserve it. Whole thing has been like an unrequited faggy relationship.

If you joined up here just to white knight for YBZ, I think you're gonna have a bad time. Not even FROG's biggest alogs seem to want the leverage the insanity that is YBZ against FROG. Zack makes FROG look good by comparison. Or... failing that, at least sane.

I'm just glad he finally released something after all these years. He's a likable sort, but his constant shilling and arrogance of his success before even having anything was grating.

Either those are different hair styles or the images are supposed to reflect angles. The right's cheekbones are a little too rigid and the jaw is too close to his throat. I see a costume change in the future, considering this jumpsuit has the quality of a trashy first suit most heroes come up with.

I'll at least give it the credit of being better than shitty fancomic art, but that's honestly not much.

Thanks for the share! The suggestions actually grew on me, so releasing with a new title name on launch, new artist, same great story. We had a preview in Bulletmaker, and all my content there is a great representation of quality you will receive from my camp.

We are publishing late legend Dheeraj Verma's last work and artist for Mike Baron's Thin Blue Line Joseph Arnold is hired to continue. Joe actually did all the concept work originally, art in my opener videos, and the preview in Bulletmaker featuring Mammoth Monk.

I have to say that my emotional reaction to this is annoyance. I still don't even know the genre of what he's offering. I've heard the Rippaverse name often enough to associate it with something - but that something is a total void. It's a frustration that I'm being told that I should think the Rippaverse is awesome, while being given absolutely no reason why.

He launched an entire "IP" on spec in conjunction with a full year (!) of blind hype while sycophants clamor to throw $50 and $100 superchats at him for the privilege of asking when they can buy related merch for comic book characters they hadn't even seen. At some point while following all this (because I sincerely and quite sympathetically do have a real interest in what he's doing, acerbic bantz notwithstanding) I came to the conclusion that it just is what it is. It's not going to be a trainwreck. It's not going to be a particular triumph. There probably isn't enough grifting happening to make it interesting, nor will it be shitty enough to be worth mocking. Rippa likes to talk of "grassroots" but it will never be that because of the very gay and rarefied air of YouTube and the manner with which is approached it. Whatever integrity this weird hype train was a (mild) affront to probably died with the advent of social media e-celebrity long before this hype began. At some point, getting annoyed about it is on par with finding out your friend or co-worker just started a "health and wellness" "business" and is now encouraging you to try Alpha Male Vitality pills and to consider becoming a distributor. Not for me and I can't look at you quite the same way again, but all the best. I'm sure it's great being up on stage breathing that gay and rarefied air but from this perspective it's kinda gross and annoying, but whatever.

You got it. That is what I'm saying. This was supposed to be a stand and it turned into fruitsalad sideshow circus. Very low percentage of the books can even produce quality that would give us a leg to stand on when criticizing mainstream (what CG was founded on), and the ones who can match quality are a fucking leap year late. The olympics are happening more often than these pros are releasing books.

I'm not paying posers and hoes a dime. They diluted the message for a quick buck and fucked it up long term for those of us who actually want to make a cultural statement that doesn't fall apart when the opposition says "But look at their book". Same for the fakes who destroy backer confidence in indie books with laziness, poor quality, or just straight up theft of funds.

Anyone who supports those practices and the offenders are also part of the problem and have lost their way. Was supposed to be a philosophy, right?

It'll fit right into CG, right alongside Red Rooster and Lonestar and whatever cringe that is that Gabe Eltaeb is pushing. I wonder if it can be saved by writing and character, or will it match those others and be a polemic for libertarianism or anarcho-capitalism or whatever Erics non-political politics are?
