I guess that makes Eric July the defacto leader of Comicsgate then. Frog never wanted that job anyway. Now he'll have more time to spend with Cecil while not delivering a product that people paid for years ago.

Isom? What a strange name for a so called superhero main character. More like "Isim." The plot also sounds so mediocre. I bet the ranch setting is a rip from superman's ranch house in the earlier stories. Nonetheless it seems Rippa conditioning his fans to support this comic solely on the fact it's not woke and not lefty has worked.

Isom is a terrible name. Most disappointingly it's not Caanan White on pencils and inks. It's Cliff Richards who looks like he's done work for DC. The art is fantastic quality. Even Gabe Eltaeb can't ruin it with his boring and washed out palette.

I guess the Title is an acronym for "In Search of More" ? Me too Rippa. I need a little more than Mario Kart nights on Youtube and "$100 Dollas!" yelled at me for superchats. Your audience doesn't.

I really enjoyed the coda at the end of the pitch trailer though. A galactic villain from the mysterious parts of space narrates a spooky warning. He will pay closer attention to "Florespark" Texas and give it a more "Thorough documentation" as we see the overarching narrative get teased out. Yes Dokumaan is this universe's attempt at a Thanos! You're telling me the guy "Documenting" the super shenanigans is named "Dokuuman" ?

Pretty Derivative. Nothing in this book, or pitch comes off as original, or anything we haven't seen before. It's a cape book and that's fine because July has demonstrated the demand for such a thing. I don't think anyone will reinvent the wheel, big two or indie at this point. It's capes all the way down.

July's audience wants Anti-Woke comics. The problem with that is being Anti doesn't mean you're any better. Just different. Just different enough and with a helping of Confirmation bias. People at this point pay for what they want to hear. Since so rarely they hear it for free.

There's been some debate about the Subjective in CG. Was it part of the pitch? Were comicsgate books supposed to be an alternative to woke comics, or just a way for blacklisted creators to get a chance to make their own thing?

Was it just a way for Billy Tucci and the CG kangz group to get a chance to make books again? or Was the audience supposed to get a quality product out of the deal?

Simple zack says you shouldn't livestream at all, while July livestreams all the time to build up a fanbase, 'interact' with his customers, and hype his stuff.

Maybe you're learning the wrong lesson by not paying attention to the details?

July isn't putting out fires on his website - he hired people to do that, and doesn't have the expertise himself. He's probably handling a lot of emails and communications.

Everything about the Rippaverse (terribly narcissistic name by the way) screams that it's going to suck. He claims he's going to make millions off of it and that he's going to outperform Marvel and DC despite the fact he hasn't release a single issue and hardly given out any information on what the comics are actually going to be like or the characters in them. The little he has given us is just typical superhero crap that looks no different then the mainstream comics. Why should I chose to read your superhero story when there's already so many other superhero titles by other companies that I can chose to read instead. The only thing it seems to have going for it is that it's "non woke" which isn't going to be enough to actually sell anything long term.

...You don't have to buy it. He's putting it out there for people to buy if they want. If you want to buy comics that aren't 'typical superhero crap' from 'other companies' you're free to. None of this is being forced on you. This is all a voluntary transaction only.

You're always free to like or dislike what you want. I didn't buy it either. But your complaints are stupider than his comic book.

Between the rural texas background and the reluctant hero archetype, I'm left to assume that July is borrowing heavily from his personal experiences to fill in the protagonist rather than going for a Superman analogue. Which is honestly probably for the best given that this is a first time writer. It runs the risk of having the character be a self-insert, true, but those aren't bad either so long as the hero is at least interesting. Self-inserts are only really a problem when they start reflecting badly on the writer, when the hero starts thinking or doing retarded behavior that's supported by the story, like Admiral Holdo in The Last Jedi, or say the main character starts having thought balloons angsting about not being able to go out with the girl next door because of his secret double life as a superhero his and also having a small dick and shit. The reader is going to have questions if your self-insert says shit like that.

Cyberfrog for example has no dick at all, but wisely Frog has not dedicated a lot of panels dedicated to discussing this. Not writing about your hero's dick is generally considered the best course of action and should only be attempted once you've come into your own as a master of the writing craft, like Kurt Vonnegut in Slaughterhouse Five, or J.G. Ballard in Crash.

Anyways, if there's one thing I've learned from comics, it's that an average or even substandard script will be received as brilliant timeless shit with a good enough art team. I saw it with Johns' Three Jokers, I saw it with Millar's The Ultimates. Hell, I once saw Canaan White turn a comic about a youtuber that eats fucking hamburgers into a kinetic masterpiece. Cliff Richards I don't think is going to elevate the material the way a Jason Fabok, Nick Pitarra or Bryan Hitch can, but he's a skilled visual storyteller and that might be what Rippa needs more than anything at this point.

Whatever the case, that's all going to determine merely whether the book is a success or not, which seems wholly independent to whether selling the book is a success or not, which July has undeniably achieved by selling it to his pre-existing youtube following to an audience that is parasocially invested in his personal success.

Since CG loves to shit on western comics so much, how about a taste of your own medicine?

The Rippaverse is another reason why manga is outselling comics.

There is no reason to spend nearly $50 on this uninspired crap when you can buy several manga for the same amount of money. Plus the creator isn't screaming about how anti woke his or her work is.

It's called Rippaverse because it's a ripoff of the normie capeshit :story:. When Eric meant "parallel universe" he really mean parallel, a mirror image of what exists but anti-sjw/woke/etc and is therefore incapable of breaking the mold.

In contrast, Raging Golden Eagle has a somewhat novel fantasy story who always updated his audience on new artwork, plot updates, and release of ancillary merchandise like that titty mousepad.

I realized that too and was about to add to my earlier comment that the plot and character is most likely a self insert simply because of the Texas ranch detail. Self inserts and stories derived from personal experience can certainly be good. Just look at Edmund from Count of Monte Cristo. However, if Isom really is a self insert, I think that's kind of ironic because a lot of what the anti Marvel comics people have been criticizing is the tranny and fag self inserts in the new Marvel comics. It's just funny someone who markets as being the anti Marvel does the same thing in his stories.

This first wave are clearly people buying into the man, his personality and his message not any particular product. I'll bet a significant percentage of buyers have never touched much less purchased a comic book before. There's nothing wrong with that either.

I don't really think that's accurate. People have been criticizing the rewriting of existing characters with raceswapping or sudden revelations of new sexual orientation. Coming up with new hero IP who doesn't huff internet gas, isn't 400lbs, and isn't a token doesn't count.
People writing what they know isn't that weird, its rewriting the existing characters they hate.

Just this morning UPS delivered my Akira 35th anniversary boxed set with 6 hardcover manga volumes, a beautiful hardcover art book, and a cool patch inside an awesome looking box with magnetic closures.

I paid $114 for it and I consider it one of the best values I've ever gotten in comics. Certainly better than a paying $25-$50 for a floppy.
