Let's uh, get one comic book out first before we start laying expectations on the youtuber's shoulders to singlehandedly save the comic book industry like so much Liam Gray.
Speaking of Liam he didn't delete his channel he just privated all of his videos. No one even noticed that (or cared). He'll be back of course.

A manga that comes on 20th place on the selling chart, sells around 150K copies in a MONTH. While #1 sells over 1M copies. And thats just in Japan.... So good luck Eric.
appeal to kids. Rippaverse is clearly putting the “smelly comic book nerd with a chip on his shoulder for Marvel and DC” first in line as the target audience, and I see nothing in the pitch that sounds remotely appealing to a kid who’s used to reading shit like Demon Slayer or My Hero Academia or One Punch Man or Attack on Titan.
i kind of wonder if kids are actually buying these comics in japan, between regular school and cram school. do they have like 2 hours of free time a day to read them.
it feels like adults working mediocre jobs in japan with a decent amount of free time are buying them and reading them. yup. single adults with mid level high free time jobs are probably reading them. like the switch being super popular because of commutes to work and the small pod sized apartments.

I didn't realize Rippaverse was ComicsGate so much as an attempt at an independent project entirely? I know EVS and the like have had something to say about it, it's comics so of course they do, but I thought he was doing his own thing? The only CG related thing I've had any success with is the Earthworm Jim books (I didn't pay attention to the drama that went down, I actually got my fucking books from TenNapel unlike with Ethan), so the lack of the "Pay me now and maybe you'll see something in 3 years because I've no fucking clue what I'm doing aside from adding stretch goals I've no idea how to fulfill either" method is the only reason I was interested in Rippaverse.

July has already shown to be smart enough to have shit done and ready to put a physical object in people's hands before asking people to pay him, and I admit I have a copy on the way for myself so there's my bias. I really would prefer the core of CG would just shut up, watch, and learn instead of putting their stink on this any more than people assume is already on it.

Is that part of the actual book cover, though, or just part of the picture taken of the book cover?

Press X to doubt on this one. Even if July ends up being a viable competitor with Marvel and DC, manga is an entirely different ballgame. The West would have to change cultures entirely in order to do so now that manga has taken over the youth crowd.
Its part of the book cover.

:O

What did Eric July do to put him on the level with Boogie?? He seems so nice!
Nothing... Yet. Boogie wasn't Boogie until saw him for what he is. Time always exposes the scum.

He is very clearly doing his own thing but associating with Comicsgate in any capacity at any point in time to the mainstream comic industry, fandom and community effectively means you are Comicsgate, whether one likes it or not. As Rippa and his fans are just starting to find out.

To me this all proves that there's still a lot of money in selling the dream of some guy offering an alternative to the mainstream status quo, it instantly becomes insanely popular and steals all the customers, the mainstream dies out or is forced to reform and the liberals are owned forever. We even have this one guy so pumped up he's talking about how Rippa is going to singlehandedly drive the yellow manga horde back into the sea while he's at it. And if the dream doesnt pan out in reality (like the tens of thousands of Comicsgaters still waiting for books they backed in 2020), the youtubers will just move on to the next guy selling the same thing.

Running a business indefinitely on selling 96 page comics of unknown quality via mail for $35 a pop off of pure dream-fuel is going to run into the same problems (the rest of) Comicsgate fell into though. At some point the "promise of future greatness" is going to need to see some returns; either he's going to have to compete with what else is out there in terms of quality and price or he's going to have to appeal to his parasocial following of 12-15,000 indefinitely. Simple Zack can't even match the backers he had for Jawbreakers: Godking in 2020 when selling his comic for $1.

July's giant ego has the potential to ruin his adventures in comic book publishing.

If he wants to rival DC & Marvel he needs to think less about wokists & anti wokists & more about creating comics that are appealing to normal comic readers & not just a few anti woke autists. But that's not what's happening. It's about "winning". It's like he sees himself as the (super)hero who is going to save the entire western comic industry from the woke villains.

But it's most likely too late anyway. Sure he can publish his own comics but they will forever be associated with CG & his anti woke sperging isn't helping. Neither woke nor anti woke sperging is appealing but anti woke is seen as way worse.

in my head with my imagination going wild, i imagine daily wire becoming Fox or Disney big and buying out rippa verse comics or RV comics years into the future and releasing it's own cinematic universe.
then i realized we'd have jews pushing out comic book movies again.
If you can’t stand Jews making comic book movies you might want to rethink shipping the Rippaverse with Ben Shapiro. Rippaverse is Glenn Beck turf anyhow, since Eric July came from Blaze TV anyhow. For all we know Glenn Beck may already be an investor.

Rippa’d be a fool not to have spread the risk around (pic attached) and I bet Glenn Beck would like to follow Ben Shapiro’s lead and make some entertainment industry $$$

I 100% agree the next challenge, if the product is actually good (Not that it's hard to be better than what his intended competition is, but I agree people want GOOD, not just slightly better than dogshit), is seeing how fast the turnaround is on the next one and if he can sustain dropping ~100 page books, or maybe he can move into hitting regular customers with affordable floppies and keep the iron hot instead of hoping hype can survive massive time gaps.

Enough people have screwed up and he seems to have learned some lessons. I'm not saying he's going to be the next Marvel or DC, nor would I go as crazy to say he's going to compete with manga, but he's at least set himself up to be more than what so many others have made of themselves. It all depends on the quality when it actually lands.

The Lotus Eaters, Sargon's current venture (although this video doesn't feature him), has done a video on the Rippaverse. July seems to have done a decent job of busting this out of the typical CG echo-chamber - many of whose members, I'm sure, will bristle at the thumbnail's implication that there has been no books attempting to please fans before July's project.

Something for the Fans Fest when?

Afaik the next book is going to release 6 months from now.

The Farms' review of the first Rippaverse comic when?

I agree with this, but don't you have to have to maintain a channel in order to use playlists, like videos, participate in chat, etc?

Technically, even I have a Youtube channel. There's not a goddamned thing on it, but they give you one anyways when you sign up for a TY account.

For now, it's technically its own thing. Albeit supported by CG (and as Dong's pointed out, probably gonna be lumped in with it by people who don't know any better). Which is why this is so funny to people. There's already speculation whether Rippa might accidently be building a better independent comics business than the great poobah's of CG.

We'll have to see how fulfillment goes, of course. That's been the most major bug in CG. If he can nail that... hoo boy.

I want to believe.
So do I.

My participation in leveling criticism at CG should be in no way be taken to mean I disagree with the fundamental idea of independent comic creators. Certainly I think most, if not all, people here would agree that Marvel and D.C. are terminally fucked.

I always thought (maybe "hoped" is the better word) that Iconic Comics would would slow burn their way to being a better alternative to CG, but watching Rippa is definitely intriguing. I just hope he's not full of shit.

I'd love for there to be a true alternative to Marvel and DC but I have doubts Rippaverse is it. Being a charismatic YouTuber doesn't mean you know how to write a story well. Lots of critics have tried to become creators and failed spectacularly. Nothing Rippa has done or said leads me to believe that he won't fall on his face. Hell, he hasn't even sent out his "already printed up" comic to a single person for review. That's a bad sign in and of itself. The odd cross on Isom's costume is another sign this will be a shit book.

You should let yourself be more optimistic. You might be wrong, but that's okay.
