Not your fault, lots of people are misreporting on the money raised. In other news, Vito has been going at the Rippaverse on Twitter for the last 2 days or so.

Hmm. I would hate to have to agree with Vito (only about the design otherwise he's assuming too much about the comic nobody has read)....

...so I will just say I wonder how he would deal with criticism of his yet to be released comics project? Google Drive Link to his Superkiller comic book script

I mean let’s be real, when retard culture warriors (e.g. the primary audience for his channel) complain about muh politics, they obviously mean “politics I disagree with”. They’re not mad about pandering media, they’re mad that it doesn’t pander to them. Personally, I’m doubtful that Mr. Rippa will see many complaints with regards to this, because he’s giving his customers exactly what they asked for.

When normal people complain about politics in media, what they’re actually complaining about is woke virtue signaling, and would be equally put off by right-wing or Christian pandering in mainstream media if that’s what was going on.

Big words coming from Pedo Vito.
I'm sure he'll be singing a different tune when his comic flops like Comic Book Hut's did.

How many people have the funds and built in audience to do so?
People like YoungRippa and Razor are obviously at a huge advantage here. Brandon Sanderson didn't launch the largest Kickstarter ever because he listened to Malin to get his youtube channel to 10K subscribers either. When Rippa said he put $200K down on this up front my Eastern European potato brain couldn't comprehend it.
But we live in the age of the Internet: /ic/ has a terrabyte of free(read.: stolen) learning material on drawing alone, I can google for any art related question I'd ever have, I can have Amazon ship any art supply I need and I can upload my work anywhere I want with a push of a button. It's never been simpler to learn, create and push something out there.
You can rightfully argue, and I'll agree with you, that to plebs like us the real challenge is getting eyes on our work and to earn a living from that, because we can't start asking for $25 and $35 for a book out of the gate. It's a long process and getting big obviously takes a shitton of effort and some luck, but today people can do the work alone without trying to beg their way into a few gated institutions with the power to publish something, and that's where the "you can do it too" mentality comes from. Obviously I'd never be able to raise $200K or a mil out of nowhere, but you and I have all the tools to start out on a much smaller scale and go from there.

Or we can always just draw hentai and fund all our creative pursuits without worry.

This is the real preview of how he will face bad and mediocre reviews of his comic. I expect nothing less than direct confrontation and refutation of any complaints.

This is why TFM loves Rippa, he's so much like them: big talk, thin skin.

Eric bitches but also has a unique perspective in comics, like how he complained about Miles Morales’s What If… series, where he was one of the first to mention how desperate and unoriginal this character is and how he relies so much on Parker’s identity

That's a unique perspective?! Well, okay then.

In the long term, Eric seems to have the right amount of ego to self destruct down the line, regardless of whether his comic is any good.

This. There's a certain kind of narcissism about him that's going to blow up at every single 'meh' he recieves.

In a $4.99 funnybook I'd probably consider these unfair criticisms

I agree with the premise that we can create and put out our created works for public consumption but as you said the real issue is getting eyes on it. Now if your goal is to simply create art then there is no reason not to do so. However, if you are trying to make money then finding a side hustle or second job would be a lot more lucrative than putting a comic out into the ether.

except Rippa‘s version looks generic as fuck. Like you could stick it in any video game or fantasy setting and it wouldn’t stand out.

It looks more like a minion than a big bad.
Are you saying Dokumaan looks generic?

Razorfist chimed in the Rippaverse situation.
TL;DW Good for him and more people should put their money where their mouth is. if people have a problem with the current cultural industries they should homebrew their own things without worrying about what the existing institutions think because they hate you anyway.
He's not wrong.
i’m betting certain creators are wishing they could go back in time and get their books done in the time they said they would. This way they could stand an inkling of a chance against the juggernaut that is the Rippaverse With their next campaigns.
I mean, they could've. They never needed to fund first and make second. Even when GC started the wait for products funded by crowdfunding was well known and documented.

Razor et al have never been talking about using it to make money. That's a happy byproduct. They are using the fact that they make shed loads from their work to make it clear that there is an audience for stuff that is not the current crop of art, art that actually does not hate it's audience and is fun and enjoyable.

Every artist funds their art starting out via a side hustle or a main job.
I was going to get the Rippaverse book but then I saw a complete set of Anton Chekhov's short stories for a little bit less and got that instead.
Honestly a good purchase.

But you have 3 months to pre order.

No, they be mad about stuff pandering to them to if it was handled as badly as the woke virtue signalling. A large chunk of the audience remembers what the Christian moral fagging was like.

I agree with this, but don't you have to have to maintain a channel in order to use playlists, like videos, participate in chat, etc?
Making a channel private doesn't make it go away. He likely still uses it for browsing etc.
We'll have to see how fulfillment goes, of course. That's been the most major bug in CG. If he can nail that... hoo boy.
I think that's why he's done things the way he has. To make sure he can fulfil and make sure the hype doesn't die down in the mean time. A few months of hype is way easier to maintain than a year.

And it's honestly the way CG should have run.

I don't think he'll have that many issues with fulfilment that can't be fixed real fast.

Only think I can't be sure about is if it will be good. But It will certainly be better than current Marvel/DC

So as you say…hoo boy.

Honestly the fact that he's been in a band that sold indie music probably helped him with his comic strateg in terms of knowing how to do things that CG by and large lacked.
