@NoOffense
Didn't Gary and Az do a Christmas book a couple of years ago? I seem to remember them announcing it but don't remember if it came out.
Yes.
It’s called: Father Convict and a Big m-she-F-U
…for getting me to comment again.
Christmas fun for the whole family.
Since it's been such a long time since I posted last, I might as well go all in and respond to this too...
Can someone explain the Eric July cult to me? Dude's an obnoxious thin-skinned twat who threatens people over the smallest thing, and his comic is boring overpriced vanilla shit about a country nigga occasionally fighting some yokel street-level goons. As far as I can tell everyone has been won over by his promise of strict continuity, which is probably the least concerning issue plaguing the comics industry today.
If you actually bought/read his book then maybe you can explain better than most of us as to why Eric has supporters/customers?
I'll give it a shot though...
Some people might like him for a mixture of:
-His personality (it’s possible I guess)
-Being black? (Other black people rooting for their own/white people who want to help a black man out)
-Agreeing with him on politics
-Having a big dream and going for it
-His instant success (leading to even more people being curious about his projects)
-Trying to be an alternative to mainstream comics
-Seeing him dunking on someone/something that they don’t like
-The success they hope will trickle down to smaller creators
-His connections/access to bigger platforms
-His confidence/ego
-Being on a show/channel they like
-Being on stream with someone they’re a fan of who tells them to support him
-His videos/opinions
-His band/music
-His business goals
-Having a lot of subscribers
-His writing...
-His warehouse
-His slang/insults
-His money
-His beard/hairy body
-Not being fat
-Employing a bunch of people
-Dealing with Rekieta/ Dick/Vito/trolls and an 'Evil Christian Organisation'
-They think they're supposed to
-I don't fucking know/whatever else
My first impressions of Eric were not great. I saw him invite detractors on his channel to debate them, then look at them in exasperation with how ‘retarded’ they were and thus in his mind (and his audience’s) win some gay point; call a lot of people crackheads; appear very bored on YT streams that he guested on; take valid (if somewhat pedantic) criticism badly; have really dumb fans and a really bad business plan that somehow worked ridiculously well for him out of the gate.
But his opponents are lower than dirt, so he is elevated in comparison.
I’m not buying his books though and don’t understand the actual appeal because the list of reasons not to like him is probably just as long.
If his books don’t improve then his success likely won’t last because while he seems to have many crazy devoted fans, I don’t think most of his customers fit into that category.
He’s proven me wrong before though. Millions of dollars worth of wrong...
At least now he's hiring pro writers, so kudos to him for that. But I heard that he said he can just swap Chuck Dixon's writing for his own, credit them incorrectly and no one would tell the difference...so he might be delusional. Just a bit.
May I never post again...for a while.
