The EVS hugbox phenomenon isn't isolated; I've seen this happen many times before in other creative community.
Basically, a bunch of mediocre-performing or flop band together around a dear leader to find comfort in the fact that they are all flailing together. This allows them to maintain a delusion that they are all wrongfully victimized by the industry. Oh, they couldn't get hired or published without crowdfunding because the mainstream industry is crooked, corrupt, and incapable of appreciating their genius! Their crap can't sell because consumers are so seduced by SJW values and can't appreciate their cutting edge vision!
This is what they tell themselves as their career continues to tank due to crap products, non-delivery, and terminal addiction to online drama.
Then comes EJ. Whatever he's doing, it is working very well for now. It forces these people to face the possibility that maybe, maybe, the fact that they weren't instant celebrated successes is because they actually are untalented hacks with horrible discipline and work ethics. Maybe DC was right to fire EVS if this is how he behaved when he was with them?
NO! It cannot be! EJ must have done something nefarious! He must have some short cuts, maybe even ties to the enemies of CG to steal the glory and fortune that is rightfully CG's! Hence, he must be TAKEN DOWN, DESTROYED, ELIMINATED. Once he is gone forever, these people can go back to clinging on to the belief that their lack of success is not their fault - the SJWs', the consoomers', Hastur's, etc.

Six hours ago the Yaira campaign was at $1.185 million. Right now its at $1.195 million. $10 grand in six hours five days after launch. Such a failure. Dead.

Tonight Ethan and paul rivoche are talking about saving comics from satanic influences for god or something. Because whats happening in the Rippaverse is just what happened at DC and Marvel. It's funny how EVS basically spedran what Todd McFarlane and Liefeld did with image. He had template on what to do and what not to do, and still fucked it. Meanwhile Eric, just looked at EVS and his fuckups, and did learn what EVS didn't. It was certainly more dramatically interesting to me when fewer people were openly mocking the Rippaverse. I usually try to avoid making content that echos the "mainstream majority" opinion. If I'm not saying something different from everyone else then what's the point in talking, ya know?
If Eric July didn't exist this week's episode would have been a dry 70 minutes on the new government definition of extremism and the Internet safety bill... That's not as funny.
The first one, kinda, but for me its more of an FNT hypocrisy type deal or whatever, but also don't be quick to rule out retarded as a possibilty.

Surprisingly, I've heard no critiques of Alphacore and just nonstop bitching about the existence of the Rippaverse. They've now just stopped making legitimate critiques like they were doing with Isom #1 and #2 and are now just complaining.

To my understanding, the comicsgate talking points resonated in the past because 1.) low effort writers and artists are on premiere IPs like superman and spiderman 2.) low effort writers are being given publishing spots on image or dark horse. What I don't understand is why go after rippaverse when they are doing their own IP and they built their own publishing infrastructure?
I remember EVS and co. espousing the same thing, if mags, ta-nehisi and others made their own IP it would've been fine and here is eric july doing that and he's getting flak..
