This surprised me, not because I think Eric is self centered or something.
There's an unnecessary risk (as far as bidness is concerned) when you make yourself a central hub for promotion. A few likes, retweets, and a superchat inspired shoutout are all vastly different than taking time to name each person, and a little about how they got into the video.
Ethan learned the hard way that helping people backfires, a lot, that's not to forgive any of his sins, but a great deal of weirdos that bit the dust freaking out at him over promotion, were rightfully swept from the scene.
Eric doing this is kind of mind blowing considering his effort to remain a pillar of his own success; which I assume translates to being an example to others as a figure of self defined success. In other words, not needing a group of peers to assist him into the market.
Anyone who has done promotion knows this always bites you in the ass. No matter how careful you are, or even if you lay down rules. 10/10 times this goes tits up.
I would hope that this concludes Eric's efforts to demonstrate he doesn't hate crowdfunding. Otherwise, I'm not sure how he's going to be able to sell Rippa Send to indie guys as a better option than being consistent with Kickstarters, and hoping he shouts them out in a future video.
To be clear, I don't think this was a goof. I just hope it stops and that he returns to building up his brand. It's well known what happens when you get into promoting strangers with no skin in your game.
