They did do that Go! Go! Loser Ranger! cartoon, but that's not officially Power Rangers. (Also it lacks the American element unless the dub brings that in.) I think a big part of Power Rangers problem is it needed a Japanese show to provide the special effects and monsters.

Wasn't part of the problem for the Power Rangers stagnation that they could't shake off the campy special effects and fight choreographies as part of their image?

As for Zack, I don't think the guy's taking pills but rather the opposite: he's off medication, be it because of negligence, medical error, poverty or sheer freaking hubris.. And insane as he might, he wouldn't dare admit in public it that he takes or took crazay pills... imagine the hit his already anemic sales would have to take.

I also think he's either recently gone on or off a prescription drug, maybe back around the time Piskor offed himself. Maybe he went on one around then and this is the manic going off meds time now.

The problem with Power Rangers is that they felt that the campy stuff was something to be embarrassed about and not part of what made the show charming. The latest seasons wanted to stop Power Rangers from being Tokusatsu and think that it should start apologising for ever having been Tokusatsu. Can you imagine a ""Romeo and Juliet" adaptation that apologises for being a romantic tragedy? A "Lord of the Rings" adaptation that apologises for being an adventure? You cannot remove what people liked about a show, shame those that liked it and still keep it popular. It is the same problem the Witcher/Halo/Avatar TV shows had: They do not know better than the source material yet they are acting like they do.

People like the campy effects and the injection of fight scenes with martial arts and good choreography every week. Hell, they like the occasional aesop when it is done well. The problem with Power Rangers was that script quality dropped dramatically from the First Saban Era and even the Disney Era. The Second Saban Era sucked (with the occasional exception) and the Hasbro Era fell hard with Cosmic Fury (that felt ashamed of being Tokusatsu) after a solid start with Beast Morphers.

What stagnated with PR wasn't the Sentai stuff. Sentai is still going strong in Japan, hasn't missed a beat. It's still exported around the world. Best Korea does their own Power Ranger adaption separate from the American one. But most others just use subtitles. Brazil is a big importer of Sentai/Tokusatsu.

But what DID stagnate was the message. They stuck to the PSA model with slapstick comedy, and moral at the end storytelling. Meanwhile Boonboomger (current Sentai) is telling us a story about sentient robot slaves having PTSD during battles because the enemy used to be their dominator and abused them since "childhood".

So... I mean... One of these things is clearly doing the right thing.

To bring this back to CG, just look at Kamen America. Their Japanese channel is litered with Tim Lim's knowledge of Japanese tropes, memes, and cultural inside jokes. As a result it's grown a massive following in a short a mount of time; that's made of people around the world that share a common appreciation for that.

That's what we call, targetting a global audience.

CG is unable to do this because they're pitching to the 90's still, and the 90's was 35 years ago.
Thus, the problem here is evident. Pay tribute to the past, but employ nostalgia for the future of your business---not for ego massaging.
 
The issue with power rangers is they couldn't shake off the adhd riddled fans from mmpr-time force. They weren't able build new "anchor beings" like Tommy (the closest they were was the sadarso brothers or Gia from power rangers megaforce). Similar to how richard & comicsgate who obsessed over 90s slope.

Another reason is due to studios putting the show in channels or timezones that were doomed to fail (nick put the show at 11am and Disney put it in jetex)

The shows "made" for men is rare. Oh wow Tulsa king is a 10 Episode show with a new season every 2 years. How many of the "male shows" eventually get infiltrated midway to apologize to wahmen & made to build up a undeserving female/poc character?

Well, the original reason the used footage for those shows was because they got it reasonably cheap, if they had to spend money on their own effects and stunts it would probably be cost prohibitive. Of course they probably couldn't shoot their own footage in Asia for cheap without getting the unions on their back.

When marvel got bought out by Disney it kinda caused a dimensional merge between the two. I think both cg and the older pr fans tend to be the higher end of the tism.

Another question I have is why do zack's fans act like they are above bpcs amd their fans, they are the same people.

Power Rangers is at its best when it is trying to be good tokusatsu show and let's things happen while keeping an overarching theme. I remember the first female Red Ranger because it came with a good plot twist and her gender reveal was to distract us from guessing it early.
