Oh, I get it now. He was talking about Gladiator 2 in his third not-tweet. Zack you should really get onto BlueSky and hang out with your people. So, this was the movie that was "made for" Nerdrotic and the Critical Drinker according to Zack eh? I haven't seen it, and I have no opinion about it currently, but it's ok for them not to like it Zack. They aren't required to like certain movies.

Since I watch Drinker and Nerdrotic on occasion, I'll help Zack out, I know he doesn't actually watch their videos (I was just pulling a little prank in my earlier post - which, sorry about double posting). Drinker didn't hate the movie, he just didn't respect it, it's just Gladiator but done differently, in the same way Alien Romulus was Alien but a little different.

It's another "sequel" that's just a veiled attempt to correct the mysterious to us masses mistake of the original. Add nothing more to it and in the end make the characters who accomplished something in the original, completely void and pointless. They didn't "hate it" the way Richard hates good movies and classics. They just said it was ...well, Gladiator but dumbed down.
Platoon is really good about breaking down the story elements and the deeper meaning behind what changes and "additions" to the story they make that ruins the first one. Also, this came out before the movie was released. So I wonder if Richard is going to say "he waited until the fans told himmmmmmm11!!!!"

Today is Friday which means Friday Night Tights will be where Gary most likely talks about Gladiator. I suggest Richard put down his little VR goggles and watch it so he can wait for the review before he gets upset about the review.

Criterion has been super gay lately but they still put out some bangers from time to time. They're releasing Sammo Hung's action masterpiece Eastern Condors in February. The streaming service is pretty good too. Last couple of months they had a nice selection of giallo movies and a William Friedkin career retrospective collection. Plus the discs go on sale pretty regularly so it's easy to get the good stuff relatively cheap.

I used to order a ton of shit from Shout but goddamn they're expensive. I also had problems with getting things like posters delivered in good condition.

YBZ has been much more guarded about his real life than he was years ago. He was living with a friend after breaking the lease on that one place. It is unlikely that he lives there still. The friend was the owner of Luna, the dog, and Luna has not been mentioned in a while (like 2 years or so). He also mentioned a number of times in the past year that he left Texas with the intention of moving back to New York, getting a regular job while there, and his friends he met with while in New York told him he was an idiot if he did that, so he immediately returned to Texas. He may very well have moved back in with the friend, but the casual comments he would make indicating someone else is in the residence have not been happening like I noticed them happening in years past. He has said he has enough money that he doesn't need a job at this time. My personal suspicion is that he has his own place again with no additional people (including his kids) living there long-term. The one son that lived with him briefly is likely 18+, and if I pieced together from what was said at the time, when YBZ broke the lease, the son moved elsewhere. I couldn't point to any videos, as this was what I inferred from numerous videos over time, a couple of years ago.

He has to be living alone now, that explains why he can be obsessing over his betters all day instead of talking to real flesh and blood people.

He has always talked about knowing how to survive being super poor and is supposedly very cheap. Remember the shitty cheap haircut he got before the Jefferies interview and his many stories about using the coinstar machines. Also, his main source of food are microwave burritos which if you buy in bulk are supper cheap. My guess is that he lives in some shitty house/apartment in a shitty area of town. He very rarely leaves home anymore(see the lack of car videos and use of digital comics instead of going to the comic store) so he doesn't have to worry as much about getting his house robbed.

Not to keep dragging out this off-topic tangent, but yeah I remember Barnes and Noble would have a 50% off Criterion sale twice a year and I'd always have a list ready to go when the sale kicked in. Not sure if they're still doing that. But regardless of any of that, Zack has terrible taste in movies.
