What you're seeing is a record of who was given there papers and who returned the paperwork (for lack of a better term). Eric was never physically handed his subpoena and according to the lawyers there were multiple attempts to serve Rippa and he ignored them. @Potentially Criminal, an actual practicing attorney (because that distinction is important to you guys) agreed that it was plausible Rippa was ducking a subpoena. Know Rippatard @MisterCH 86 even agreed that it looks like Eric dodged a subpoena so even he had to accept this as reality.

I tried calling the Collin County Clerk of Court to see what they could say about it and they referred me to the Constables. I had to leave a message, but I doubt they call back.

If Eric wasn't served, fine. He didn't duck it and I'll own it.

So far, it doesn't make sense. Everyone but the actual guy who met up with the cops and spoke to them at length was served. Also, why is he just coming out like this after 3 months?

Yea, the review was bad. It was done with pure malice and didn’t take into account many parts of the book’s story itself. There were even points where the author was reaching.

But Rippa’s mistake was to respond to it, flooding the gateways of people (former “friends”) accusing him of not being able to take criticism. But then they went overboard immediately with their actions.

The problem is that the people these guys favor now are anti-consumerist and liars in general. Look at the pedo Vito. He said he expected his 64-page year-late comic book to be shipped in Q1 2025, and well…still nothing. And he hasn’t given back refunds. EVS has how many campaigns he hasn’t finished yet? By Juju’s own admission, he didn’t read the comic before reviewing it, at least initially. That was already a bad-faith move by Juju he would never recover from because he was compromised at that point.

Also, the state of Texas wasn’t filing charges on Riley for Eric. They were filing charges on the venue. They reported him, not Eric. Because he stalked the venue, specifically Eric and his wife especially, based on the video footage.

The whole point of Comic Book: The Comic Book was the laziest cash grab possible to do as a "comic book." That's how I saw it. The fact that he can't even do this lazy, pathetic thing that he already crowdfunded over 100%:

shows me that he's basically finished in the crowdfunding business and the comic book business. I'm not expecting a comeback of any sort. I wonder if he has enough assets to retire?

Someday, someone needs to crowdfund ComicsGate: The Comic Book in honor of this debacle.

Edit: Incidentally, if you go to his crowdfunding page for this https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/comic-book-the-comic-book#/ he's linked a spreadsheet that is basically a version of the book, because it includes a list of the books he wants (excuse me, wanted before his latest temper tantrum) to trace and include. It also includes some of his notes. I think it's all Marvel, I didn't notice any DC (or any of the big indies like Hellboy or Spawn). This, to me, makes it rather poor as a history of comic books, since you need to include big events which would include DC and some others than the big two. But, given this is the laziest project I can think of that doesn't surprise me. Making an actual history (from our history major) would be work after all.
