Crowdfunding platforms where the person is promising to deliver a product or service should have a set limit of times something can be delayed before it gets refunded. Like you can do 3 delays where you set a new delivery date, backers are notified each time it is delayed and given the option to opt-out/refund.

If people choose to re-support after the automatic refund that's up to them, but there is no reason on earth that a 20-page parody comic "rainbow the brute" would take 5+ years to make.

Unfortunately they make alot of money from the backers and have protections that they are not liable of unfulfilled projects as long a refund is issued, but even that isn't a guarantee. Crowdfunding is still considered a donation.

Realistically yeah. But he's been saying it's halfway done for at least 2 years. He also promised it by Christmas a few years ago very early in the year with plenty of time to go.

$32,000+ is plenty to print and ship ~1000 copies of a self published book and keep a few dollars. But hanging around @FROG makes people lazy he's a crap mentor. This guy should have closed the deal on his book and shipped it fast then sold issue 2 and 3 within this 3 years. These retards make me almost want to make a book just to show them up. But then again I'd rather do literally anything else.

I find it both funny and interesting that there’s a lot of independent artists and storytellers out there who have delivered comics, with art that doesn't look like glorified college study-hall doodles and are actually great, or good or at least not bad, delivered in a timely manner

I will say it every time. The ONLY three comicsgate/adjacent books that I actually liked, and thought were worth their money with decent art was

Longharbor (no idea if he made anything else, I stopped caring about Comicsgate books or indie comics in general thanks to CG)
Monster M.D. (it's a shame Von turned into a retarded monkey literally who within CG licking at the feet of Ethan for no benefit)
Deathsworn (Decent story and good art, it was late, but the guy lives in Ireland which is a shithole so I can't completely fault him for taking his ass time shipping)

And fuck it. I'll throw in Battle Maiden Knucklebomb, the art was good, I can't remember the story, it's some anime titty shit that I got because I was all in on CG at the time.

I know Ethan and Richard's huge cope is that the "art is so worth the wait, guys. Honestly. You won't rad the book once and put it on your shelf and never read it again, the art will totally be worth the 5+ years it took to get into your hands maybe" but the reality of the world is that it will NEVER be worth it. I would much rather (and have) read a whole completely realized story with mediocre to bad art than wait a decade between three parts.

So, when we think of this word taste, can we define it as a skill? Richard is lacking in this skill. To put it in terms of being skilled at golf, Ya Boi Zack's skill level in taste would be around the level of decapitating himself with the club while making a putt at a miniature golf course. Impressive in its own way, both a comedy and a tragedy.

The problem is, Richard has decided to style himself as a professional golfer.

I'm not going to longpost my model on this, but I always thought Richard's lack of taste was an asset in building his channel. I mean he was certainly never going to win a race to the top, but most Big 2 comics have always been pretty stupid, so as long as he stayed away from other kinds of media, he was well positioned to talk about comics as they actually are.

Now he's been bewitched by the AI craze into thinking he can realize his dream of being an artist without being an artist. And that A-B "improvement" is how he thinks it's going to work. He's never going to sell books that way. Partly because the AI may not in his lifetime ever be able to draw intentional dynamism or expression, or infer the next panel from the previous, or understand a script, or remember details the way even an teenaged amateur can. But mostly because if it can do all those things, 500,000 people will be better at it in a year than Richard.

Wasn't it like a few months ago he said reignbro the brute was finished?

I thought I remembered this too, but then I realized that was the Snowman comic, which Ethan declared almost done one day and then actually shipped out of the blue.

That took Ethan a whole presidential term, so things are looking up for Reignbowtees watching their emails. Unless Ethan is getting even slower. I know how I'm betting.

EVS, you lied to your backers about when they're expected to get their books. If they knew they were getting their books 10 years after they funded them, at least some of them wouldn't have given money to your campaigns.

This is a great example of the shortcomings of AI. The second picture is vastly superior in every way...except it's not art. It's not a drawing. It's not communicating any human thought or impressions. It could never have been adapted from a writer's script. Never mind the numerous errors (Elendil's penis ascot, Yaira's sword, the logo, etc etc); the second picture could only have been created after someone did 97% of the the work by drawing the first picture.

And then, despite the disparity in polish, the first one is usable in a comic book and the second one is not usable. The second one only works as desktop art - a one-off picture where the details really don't matter.

Nevermind that if you have an AI image with errors and you tried to fix said errors by regenerating it, you'll just create an entirely new image with entirely new errors.

These people have done nothing to change the landscape of comics. All they did was give money to the loudest figures, who turn out to not be genuine and has no interest toppling over the current medium industry. In terms of gaming, while indie companies are making games at reasonable prices, the AAA companies continues to hire people that fail upward and keeps making the same types of mistakes over and over again. MindsEye is a perfect example, and that was from a new studio. At least you can make the claim that there's some effect going on in the gaming industry with successes like BG3 and Expedition 33, but they have no association with GG.

Same with comics. Marvel and DC are still functioning as is. And manga obviously is killing the graphic novel industry. The only folks who are at least aiming to keep up are the Rippaverse and Iconic Comics. But what has CG done? Fuck all besides deliver late comic books and letting their egos and conartistry take over. No serious industry would never have this silly infighting EVS and YaTardZack have generated.

That's the thing; and this is why supporters are part of the problem too, and is why comics is essentially done for. They enable this. Any sane person would see that EVS has been late/incomplete on tons of projects and not donate. But they still donate. Then they bitch about them not getting their product and consistently ask when they're going to get it.

Richard's relationship with AI is extremely cringe. I think part of it is that he somehow alienated all the people who used to carry him. Without them, as far as I can tell, he can't write, he can't draw and he's a terrible businessman. So, he has enough mental capacity to know he's lacking in all these areas, but not enough to know that AI can't fill in for his weaknesses. Even if AI can do the things he thinks it can, giant corporations will just have it do that stuff and crush nobodies like Richard.

Still, I think he just going to transition into being an asshole on Youtube, though even that doesn't seem to be successful for him.
