If we take at face value past declarations from Meyer that he's "culling" his followers to get rid of the "dead weight" (aka people who question his volte-faces) this would be just par for the course.
If he's just being a clumsy asshole too autistic to read the room, it would also be par for the course.

Basically, Richard wanted to get a lot of people who are fans of things he doesn't like all riled up. He could have said anime is for babies, and gotten people to go on the defensive about liking Demon Slayer. Or he could have said, "Anime is for school shooters," which is a narrative that can lead to teenagers being oppressed by their schools and parents. He couldn't decide on which grenade to throw so he threw both.

However, I think if any kids are likely to become school shooters, it's Richard's fatherless bastards.

Demon Slayer committed the sin of preserving its audience and was rewarded with success. Superman and F4 did not and got failure. He hates fans and those that side with them. Also, no one tell him that the author of DS is a woman! It would crush him!

But why if that's the case did Richard see a need to make three bait posts about it? I doubt the Critical Drinker or whichever Youtube channel he's complaining about it are much more fans of Demon Slayer than Richard is himself. So, the reason they are talking about it is probably just to make the point of how badly American tentpole superhero movies are doing lately. Which is the truth, and the movie business will probably start to move on from superhero movies (it looks like the next trend might be videogame movies, may God have mercy on us all).

Most people who are Gen-X or older hate anime with a passion, my best guess is that it's too fast paced and it doesn't have enough hostess fruit pie ads.

But Millennials were subject to the "Asian Invasion" of the late 90's and early 2000's; and then the Zoomers and Alphas grew up with anime as standard entertainment. No barrier to entry like finding a Suncoast store that had the right DBZ tapes you needed to find out of Goku and Vegeta kicked Kid Buu's ass or not.

So for Richard, Ethan, and the rest of the crusty old fucks that rage against anime, this is Hell. It doesn't get worse than seeing Superman mogged by a 12 year old with a sword. Their great and glorious Fantastic Four, Marvel's First Family... Completely BTFO'ed by a kid with a sword. They absolutely hate this, it's a revocation of every aspect of their "I'm cool and hip" attitudes, it smashes their megalomania and reminds them that they are---in fact, very out of touch.

It also committed the sin of making money on time and under budget. The last season before the movie ended June 2024. This aired July in Asia before hitting the states. They had 13 months and 20 million dollars to do it. Comicsgate could only dream of such a turnaround time
