A lot of these guys become harder to listen to once you become aware of how unashamedly dishonest they can be. I was not making it through that stream without Mikey's interjections once I noticed how often Ethan was pulling shit out his ass in rapid succession and acting like he dindu nuffin.

Streamers became popular because the audience wanted authenticity. They are sick of Hollywood and how fake it is. So when these people turn out to be full of shit too they lose any appeal they had.

Streamers may start out true to themselves, but once they get big and in come the sponsorships and paypigs, they start chasing algorithms and relevance to keep the money coming. Very few will still remain true to themselves then - many instead start making bandwagon content to stay relevant.

Can't knock them for that as who doesn't need and love money. Still, it also means that their worth as an "honest" streamer is now compromised.

Hence, it's best to treat streamers as having an expiry date and be prepared to bail once they start selling out for the almighty dollar.

Personally, I think the best video Gary ever did was from a few years ago where he basically just told his AA story. I'm a sucker for redemption stories though, so I'm biased.

I picked up a digital copy of his memoir, and his recovery arc is quite the interesting read.

No, I would settle for an illogical explanation. Well, there's usually still a reason that addicts do the things they do. Why would some addicts steal from their grandmother? To fund their next fix. Why would some addicts do sexual favors in back alleys? To fund their next fix.

Was EVS already high when he started filming? If not, then he still made a conscious decision to do this. Was it a livestream and he thought he would get superchats out of it (delusional as that would be)? At least that would fall in the category of an addict funding his next fix. If, on the other hand, he was already high when he started filming, then we can truly throw all logic out the window. I just want to know what the situation was.

As I said, even Rekieta, drugged and drunk out of his mind, had the self-preservation instincts to at least go off-camera to snort his coke.

I do not think we can have any guarantee that he was not high before and just smoked more as he filmed. Muscle memory might be involved too. He always films so force of habit might be at play. As for Rekieta, substances might be different, tolerances might be different, personalities might be different. Funny drunk, sad drunk, angry drunk, violent drunk. Any kind of substances can affect different people differently. Who knows? Maybe Nick is better at handling substances or more tolerant. EVS has poor impulse control and an addictive personality. He gambles too.
