I think he lived in Austin in the 1990s when he was working for Dell. Before he got into the fight and was forced to join the marines. I think he moved back to Austin after he left the military maybe around the late 2000s. I think all his political stuff around 2017-2018 was performative. He was always a stupid, sleazy white trash guy with no standards as to women and a tendency to create children through stupid.
Comic Drake or Richard?

Clearly Zack. Unless Drake went to the marines.
Of course, but he was replying to a Comic Drake post. I just wanted to clarify. I don't think a twerp like Comic Drake would make it through boot camp.

Someone upthread said he travels to Portugal now for his new IT gig? Many months ago he mentioned maybe moving back to NY and getting a job in IT and I shit on that pretty hard here so if he has skills after all I'm curious.

Don't most of the "doomer uncs" prefer DS9 or Next Gen?

So he's a veteran to avoid a charge, not because of his righteous duty to serve his country? I thought he came from a military family.

Maybe for his first stint, but he did return to the military for additional tours, didn't he?

Doomer uncs said the bitter old man who obsesses over a black man a decade younger than him.

Like, nigga you are older than everyone you are talking about. Does he think he's appealing to kids? His audience is literally made of people Nerdrotic's age or older.

This makes me wonder if he even has any real political opinions. or if he's just pure grifter energy.

Richard did come from a military family. But he had no motivation to go into the military or do anything with the military until after he got the criminal convictions for the fight and whatever events around it. His dad then tried to help him find a good way into the military, but the specifics of his conviction were apparently so bad that nobody but the marines would touch him. Not even the army would take him which is really saying something. I suspect whatever his criminal problem actually was, he is under-describing what he did.

Its gets worse because according to his account, he did quite well on the testing they do for recruits. And they offered him a bunch of better jobs in the marines. But he told them his dream was to be a rifleman. To be a nobody in the marines and a nothing at the very bottom where they dump the guys with zero skillls. They looked at him like he was crazy because he was but he did not change his mind. Eventually (according to his account) a high ranking offer got directly on the phone with him trying to get him to change his mind. They begged him and he still refused.

His dad would have known better but I don't think he was listening much to his dad. He honestly thought the military was going to be like GJ Joe cartoons and Star Wars movies.

I think he actually left the marines after four years and then went into the army. There is less information about what he did then, but I think he was obviously smartened up enough by then or listening to his dad more seriously such that he went into the army rather than stay in the marines. He was also free by then (probably) from the criminal conviction problem.

Well. His dream after the military was comics. He made his first self-published comic (No Enemy But Peace) around 2008. He kept trying and trying with comics. He would have worked for any company for free. But he was just no good. And eventually he launched his first crowdfunded version of Jawbreakers around maybe 2014. The original version of Jawbreakers was the special version where Richard unleashed his art skills on the world. The one that he never finished and never really fulfilled as a campaign. The one with 58 backers.

In the pre-comicsgate dark ages, you had a set of people like Doug Earnst and Captain Cummings who were serious right-wing guys who were doing comic reviews and trolling creator people at Marvel & DC.

Richard showed up late to that party but did reviews that got attention and got an audience. He got popular for reviews but at the same time he had some sort of prior association with Ethan Van Sciver that still isn't really understood. Probably from pre-youtube comics sites. But even in those days, Richard's opinions were often different than the right-wing people in comicsgate and so on. For example, Richard just loved the Last Jedi. He did a positive review of it that eventually disappeared because it contradicted the narrative.

I think this too. He’s one of those people that will tell you a story several times over the course of you knowing them, and the truth is buried underneath, but eventually you’ve heard enough to piece it out.

We know he has some real emotional control issues just from how speaks in videos.

There's the right way, the wrong way, the army way, and the Zack way.

He sounds like an absolute literal faggot so I am guessing his violent criminal record is faggotry related in some way. No one like him would ever in a million years admit that of course. It would have to be lies about something based and manly and all Conan the Barbarian or whatever.

"Former fans" doesn't invalidate their opinion. Saying someone is an anti-fan literally doesn't take any power from their opinion. Wanting something to end when it's clearly spinning its wheels in the mud or doing terribly also doesn't make you an anti-fan. You can be a fan of Simpsons and still want it to be peacefully sunset.

The second tweet... yeah it's funny, big greek man. But Star Trek is about teaching a lesson, challenging your morality. You can post a picture of a funny out of context image and say "lol uncs be like, this shit gud" and skip all the context of what is going on there, but it just makes you look like a faggot retard nigger.

Phil, work on your fucking comic book or find a real job and get off the internet, it's clearly making you mad

Its probably worth pointing out that the first successfully published issue of Jawbreakers featured a team of military super-heroes fighting a giant magic gorilla.

So Star Trek is stupid because of a scene with a giant greek god. But an entire story about army guys with names like "knife hand" fighting a giant magic gorilla with straw guns is just great.

This is typical Richard. He hates the old, good versions of things like Mad Max, Star Trek the Original Series, The Crow, etc, but is a rabid supporter for the modern trash versions of things.

This episode, you have the god Apollo being an alien and they used the special effects of the time (with the low budget the original series) to portray this. There is nothing wrong with this, Richard isn't critiquing the story here, just the special effects. He thinks that's a win. Moron.
