You're showing a picture with no source to back it up, which at this point has become predictable and extremely stupid. I'm no fan of the guy, but the stupid gossip, the sad attempts at the gotchas and the whole giving yourself false hope of something bad happening to people like him has gotten old a long time ago. You’re arguing feelings, not law. A trademark doesn’t magically come back to life because someone “makes another issue.” Once it’s abandoned for non-response, it’s dead—legally. That’s not gossip, that’s how the USPTO works.


And the “no source” point just makes you look uninformed. Trademark status is public record. Anyone can verify it in about 30 seconds, which you clearly didn’t bother to do before writing all that.


Also, pointing out a dead trademark isn’t some conspiracy or “gotcha”—it’s literally just stating an objective fact. If that bothers you, that’s a you problem, not a “wrong place” issue.


If they want protection again, they have to refile—preferably with someone competent this time. There’s no workaround, no sequel issue that fixes it, no amount of fan defense that changes it.


You can call it boring all you want, but reality doesn’t stop being true just because you’re tired of hearing it.

And for the record, I don’t have a stake in any of this—I just understand how trademarks actually work.

I don't care about Dillard, and you be surprised to find out how many other people don't on here as well. My point is Evan, Liam and all of CG actually do things worth shitposting about.....When's the last time Dillard did anything worth shitposting about? Please let me know, so I can at least pretend to have a clue on why I should care about him on here.

1. I don't think even people in Hollywood defend Zeigler anymore.
2. If he's trying to re-brand as woke, attacking the two women he's fixated on again (while attacking his latest Black Beast) isn't going to endear him.

He's become quite an unpleasant old crank.

RCM's contempt for people who got into comics after he did exceeds even his contempt for people who got into comics before he did. Even in his relevant years, he often couldn't conceal his disdain for X-Men cartoon millennials, even though X-Men cartoon millennials constituted a plurality of Big 2 sales and the majority of his audience.

1) The first one is just Richard repeating his defense of Rachel Zeigler. Its mostly male feminism. Its tone deaf and stupid. Nobody likes Rachel anymore or bothers to defend her.
2) In the second one, Richard searches back in Eric July's 18 years of videos. Richard discover a video ten years ago where Eric July bought an MCU wall sign ten years ago which explains everything. Richard determined that Eric July isn't a "real" comics guy because he didn't do videos about them ten years ago. So he is just like Heather Antos because the only problem ever with Heather Antos turns out to be that she was making comics while not being A REAL COMICS FAN.

Real comics fans are comics fans from birth. And if you are not a real comics fan, you have no right whatsoever to make comics like a true artist like Richard.

Eric July also proved that he was unfit to make comics because he couldn't remember the issue number of Flash that he bought as his first comic when he was six years old.

I guess the only funny irony in the video is that Richard erased all his old videos to prevent anyone from doing what he just did to Eric July.

The thing Richard craves more than anything is authority, and I can demolish any authority he thinks he gets from reading old G. I. Joe comics pretty quickly. He is not intelligent, creative, artistic or original. He's also very lazy. So, it doesn't matter if he somehow read the entire Marvel catalog back to the beginnings, he wouldn't really understand it. The only reason he managed to make comics that look somewhat professional was because he was carried by actual professionals. When he tries to make comics on his own he comes up with stuff like ComicBook: The ComicBook, which he then doesn't finish either out of laziness, cowardice, or figuring out that he's going to get a cease and desist (if he hasn't already and kept it quiet to fleece the rubes).

If we ignore his failings as a comic book... publisher(?), well, as a comic book essayist he's much worse. Unless he's just basically explaining the plot of a comic book he's read with as much detail as he can remember, usually when he talks about them he completely misses the point and wants to rewrite them into something stupider. As a cultural critic he tends to like stuff that fails miserably. I think he's being a deliberate contrarian there because it would be almost impossible to like stuff that fails so consistently otherwise.

I thought the attempt to force lolcow status on Eric July was annoying (and I still do), but the demand from some corners that we all get kneepads out and suck Eric July's cock is equally fucking annoying. It might even be more so at this point, because I think most people on KF are in general agreement now that Zack and EVS have completely lost the plot when it comes to their hateboner for July. Deifying Eric July is absolutely not a precondition to mocking Zack and EVS as they continue to circle the drain.

IMO, this dude has always been a drag on the thread and makes any attempt at a discussion even tangentially involving Eric July, outside of mindlessly worshipping him, extraordinarily unpleasant.

It's crazy how much a successful black man in comics really pisses off certain people to the point that they're willing to piss away what little careers they have in order to spend years taking shots at him. EVS is a narcissist so it's on point for him, but why is Zack so mad at him? It reminds me of all those anti-racist liberals who spent days calling Clarence Thomas a nigger because of the Roe reversal, completely ignoring the white justices and laser-focusing right on the black guy.

It's crab bucket mentality they hate that some newbie is more successful than them and they can't stand it. Especially with Ethan because Eric July is proof that you don't need to lick the frog taint to be successful in indie comics, with Iconic he could write them off because cyberfrog made more money with Rippaverse however not only do they make more than cyberfrog they make more than all of CG. The funny thing is if Ethan wasn't such a control fag both he and CG could have benefited from working with the Rippaverse either with variant covers. Posters or even interiors for a comic. IMO Eric July makes Mid comics but at least he's not a gay control freak like Ethan Van Sciver
