Basically "it's problematic that heroes' girlfriends/wives, etc. all get hurt, killed, etc to provide drama/plot points". It's named for Kyle Rayner's gf getting murdered and literally stuffed in a fridge.
Oh, that. Strange how they only care when someone "diverse" dies despite men dying in media all the time.

To be fair to Gail, I think she's gone on record of lamenting of how people have abused the "women in refrigerators" thing to the point where it doesn't mean anything anymore.

She says that criticising comics practices is career suicide, but look at Zack's indiegogo.

Capitalizing on an anti-SJW outage is like printing money. Owens and Aurini were getting 15k for months for a while there. Vox Day and some other dipshit (Roosh?) got a similar payday for their own comic series that I don't think I've heard one word about since they hit their goals.

It's good for you guys that you got a win, but let's not forget that "anti-SJW as a career model" is pretty much its own cliche at this point.

I think you've missed the point. This comic that's being made isn't about "sticking it the SJWs," it's just about making a fun comic that people want to read. We want the industry to go back to creating quality works that aren't merely platforms for the author's political and social agenda. That's what the success of this campaign represents.

Fair point, but hear me out...

Zacks comic looks like shit. Vox's comic looks faggy as hell. All the shit they've been shilling on KiA for the past year or so doesn't look much better. The "converged SJW comic industry!" really had no influence in people flinging thousands of dollars at this shit? Like this is just stuff you people thought was quality? Because it seems like it would just be cheaper to walk around a comic shop and buy something independent drawn by competent artists than it would be than to fund this sub-DeviantArt dreck with thousands of dollars.

I can't speak to Vox Day or whatever other projects you're talking about. I haven't supported them. I'm sure that, at least with Alt-Hero, there's a large political element behind his support, due to Vox Day's association with the alt-right. The comics also do seem to have a political bent to them. However, I don't see that in this case. I also disagree with you that JAWBREAKERS looks like shit, I think it looks like a fun read, but that comes down to personal taste.

I think it'd be nightmarish if eventually you end up with the same "ideology>>>>story" model but with crazy right-wing views instead of crazy left-wing views. Just like in anything else, any change that does happen will inevitably face some distortion from both personal interpretations and opportunists like Vox Day which should be kept in mind.

This really makes them once dragging out Stan to use as a shield even worse.
CG community is calling this out (mostly on twitter), I have barely seen anything from the comic pros talking about it:
Jeremy (UnsleevedMedia / TheQuartering)
Weaponized Nerd Rage:
I Love Comics (Englentine):
These videos (Jeremy’s specially) pissed me off at how much they don’t care about Stan unless they can use him for their agenda.

Vox Day’s Alt-Hero is basically a right-wing SJW book. All he problems people are fed up with but with right-leaning politics. So far that’s all the critism I’ve heard of the book.

EDIT: More Stan Lee stuff:

I will say this: John sticking his fat fucking face into Comicsgate would be the greatest gift of autism of all.
I haven't been keeping up with John but isn't his campaign pretty much in its terminal stage at this point? Would make sense if he was already looking for another scam. Revolution60 really needs a comic adaption.

Don't recall which video exactly, but in one of the streams with DC, Ethan Van Sciver equated comics to Poland. EVS said something along the lines of 'comics being "saved" by the alt-right is like Poland being "liberated" by the USSR.'

The altright would never save comics or video games. They just want to use it as propaganda too. If anything they're even more incompetent and would ruin those industries faster even if they somehow took them over...

You might be conflating this Jawbreakers Indigogo crowdfunded comic with the previous one Zach ran on KS (black and white with random red panels and enough unintentional homo-eroticism to last a lifetime) . That one kinda looks like shit cause it was drawn by Zach himself. The new one is drawn and colored by actual professional artists (Jon Malin, Brett Smith).

Whether you like the artstyle is up to preference of course, but in it's genre it's top of the line as far as the art goes.

I ain't watching 45 minutes of Fidget McGee talking about whatever he thinks gonna get him clicks for the day. I assume this one comment tells me all I need to know about it;

I love how this chick's whole spiel is a convoluted theory on the level of the Zapruder analysis scene from Oliver Stone's "JFK", when all she's really trying to say is, "Um, uh.....these books didn't get low sales because they sucked, but because people were just waiting for the trades! Yeah, that's the ticket!"
