To be fair the practice of trade waiting is a well documented one and it's repercussions on books have been known for a while. There's been a lot of series well before the SJW-insurgence that reviewed well, were well received by fans, but then got prematurely cancelled because the sales were low due to so many people trade-waiting and the publisher logically concluded it wouldn't do much better when the trades eventually came out. A lot of it stems from the monthly-single model being antiquated and counterproductive; especially when comparing it to other distribution models like manga and web-comics that have proven themselves to be successful.

While quality is definitely a factor (no amount of trade-waiting will explain away the poor sales of Mockingbird or Hellcat, for instance) there's no denying that there's a greater inscentive across the board to just wait for the $20 paperback that is 5-6 issues compared to the $4-$5 per issue that Marvel's singles typically run for. It was kinda why DC bringing their singles price to $3 was such a big thing when they first did Rebirth - it gave people a little more wiggle room to pick up more books for the same price as their typical comics budget.

It also made the trades worth just a bit cheaper compared to single issues. You traded time for couple cents/dollars.

A trade normally covers around 4 minimum to 6 maximum (Unless event) single issues depending on the story, almost all comics from DC are either $2.99 or $3.99, that multiplied by number of issues inside the trade is around $12 - $24 depending on the price of the single issues.

You either save a couple bucks or cents waiting, making it somewhat better to just pay a bit more to get the story sooner for some titles.

Curiously, this is common thing talked about in Radical Feminism, Communist and Marxist groups, and in some LGBT circles. Western culture and the toxic masculinity of the White Man must be subverted or destroyed. I remember it being talked about on 4chan at one point where someone provided cited works, they think the reason "marxism/radical feminism/communism doesn't work" is because they believe the white man with his empire built on the traditional values of Nationalism, Meritocracy, Family, Chivalry etc etc have "poisoned the well" in their mind. And the only way for true cultural revolution is to subvert the populace by destroying anything and everything that's representative of it.

Subvert existing white male images of positivity, such as superheroes. (Comicsgate)
Increase the amount of media showing white women with men of other nationalities. (BBC shitposting)
Destroy or subvert the traditional positive image of the nuclear family
Destroy things celebrate white mens achievements or sacrifices (shirtgate, historical statues)
Promote white men feminizing themselves (Trap, Girlboy, Feminine Penis, Trans life)
Enter primarily white male spaces and either drive them out or subvert them from the inside. (Comicsgate, Sad Puppies, GamerGate, Atheism+)

I thought it was quite an interesting post at the time so it's stuck in my mind. I really should have screencapped it.

There's one thing I kinda like about that weird Black Panther Venom thingy up the page. Since she's paraplegic, her legs are all withered, and even with the symbiote overtop they still look weird as hell. The spikes add a little bit of xenomorph flare, but her body still seems weirdly unbalanced. I could go for a crippled hero who looks visibly fucked-up, rather than just having an artistic scar or two.

However, I'm guessing that's just bad art, not intentional body horror. Shame.

It's not uncommon but I wish people wouldn't just try to parrot what their opposition says as if it's a mirror. I'm probably not alone in thinking SJW types adopting phrases like "triggered snowflakes" and "x doesn't buy y" just shows how effective that language is on them if they feel the need to start using them. It's awkward and essentially "no u".
 
The Stan Lee situation seems to be nearing its conclusion. I doubt Stan can survive long enough to actually sue if the guy has competent lawyers that will drag the case out. But if this guy really is the mastermind, he needs to burn:

I'd be legitimately angry if he passes and everyone does the the "He meant so much to us" act when they ignored him outside being a convient shield and previously went on about how his legacy should be demolished to make way for Tumblr comics. Trying to profit off anyone's death is one of the scummiest things you can do. Stan's a WW2 vet who since getting introduced to the Timely Comics officies as a teenager became one of the most influential people in the industry and argubably entertainment in general. You used to always see him with a big goofy genuine smile on his face because he loved being around people.
 
The man is one of the fortunate few that found something he both loved, and was good at, and was consequently able to spread that love to everyone around him too, because he loved living his life, and when you are that blessed, being angry is almost impossible.
 
Stan's Soapbox at the end of issues probably helped more people than the enitrety of the current generation will ever help.

Dude was and still is a damn hero.

There’s something to be said about no bad press and manufacturing controversy paying off. It didnt in the case of marvel, though, when they took popular characters and race/gender swapped them or hired shitty writers who had no experience writing comics because ‘muh diversity’. Marvel realized too late that comics are basically dead, social justice twitter is dumb complainers who don’t buy shit or support what they praise (they’re broke as fuck), and the only people who buy comics today don’t support “woke” bullshit. Marvel even admitted all this but it was too little too late.
