The biggest thing about Boom! is that since the vast majority of their line-up consist of other IPs, only the most obsessive of fanboys and fangirls who absolutely have to own every piece of official merchandise they can get their hands on are the only ones who actively seek these comics out. And in that front they serve that niche okay from what I've seen. At least compared to the likes of IDW where their comics either look nothing like the source material (Jem) or completely miss the mark thematically (GI Joe, Judge Dredd)

Only thing about Boom! I've noticed is that it's been the "gateway publisher" for a lot of the shirty hipster wannabes that later work their way into the bigger publishing houses like Kate Leth or Noelle Stevenson, presumably because they're also willing to work for peanuts given Boom! Studio's page rates. So this announcement doesn't strike me as too surprising.

I'm amazed at the lengths people like Mr Doyle will go in order to pretend they aren't the creepily obsessive ones.
 
They're a conservative political commentary outlet and generally I find their stuff to be pretty good. I had no idea that they covered autistic capeshit sperging though, so good on you, Zack!

Ace, of Ace of Spades, has been a fairly big right wing blogger since the early 2000s, and often comes across as a former nerd -- he once did D&D character writeups of the 2004 Dem candidates, for instance.

Conway is proving why I mostly prefer Silver Age comics; they were simple and the people making them were more obsessed with making a product for the masses than a political piece.

He also gives me the vibe that he wrote the Punisher as a power fantasy where he could go out and murder the stupids that he hates.
 
His use of "the silver age was 50 years ago" argument is one I've seen other people use before. First off it ignores that the transition from the Golden Age required the superhero genre to mostly die which is why a lot of Silver Age reimaginings were original concepts and secondly, it comes off as self-centered, doesn't it?

I mean in the sense that it seems like "I grew up with it and that's why it should end" as if these characters having massive success crossing generations means nothing. I've noticed most people who take this talking point happen to be double or triple my own age, mostly "white guys" as they like to demonize too. Bruce Wayne has lasted almost a century of publication because clearly there is a demand for Bruce Wayne and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. You'd think the MCU being such a big success would drill in their heads that people still want Peter Parker, Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, etc. but apparently not.
