Being gay or troony has been turned into a social golden ticket, imagine coming of age as just a fucked up weirdo with a dysfunctional family, but not genuinely LGBTQA+++, so none of the protections or benefits. It's easier to latch onto some trendy gender shit as a rationalization, rather than to confront your own shitty upbringing, that can take decades of therapy to resolve.

Gaiman is such a cuck at this point he's already forgotten what happened in 2014. He asked his friend to serve as host at the Hugo Awards. Friend (Jonathan Ross) was guilty of having made a few (gasp!) fat jokes once upon a time. Yep, that was his sin. (Aside from the Original Sin of being a white male, I suppose.) Twitter shitstorm ensues. Ross withdraws. Gaiman whines about how intolerant and humorless everybody is. Otherwise leaves Ross twisting in the wind.

I haven't gone looking on a case by case basis, but I would bet a great deal of money that many of the same individuals lining up to oppose and smear #comicsgate are the same people involved in the Hugos hosting nonsense described above.

I don't understand the comparison he's trying to make with his strawman. Can you really imply classic Marvel is old news when we have billion dollar movies being made with said characters? Also "doesn't use the 1984 card design" is weird when Marvel DID revert to having a more classic banner on their covers and I haven't heard much demand for that.

Is the point that people aren't allowed to criticize the decisions of corporations since "I might not enjoy every single product that is marketed toward me 100% of the time"? At least think your strawman through.

Bruce Wayne have been Batman for nearly 80 years. Other comic book heroes have similarly long legacies. People in professional sports are rotated in-and-out of teams on a semi-regular basis. A pretty poor analogy, in other words.

There's also something of a strawman hidden in here. Mostly people seem upset that the identities of established heroes are being usurped by poorly characterized preternders - the new players wearing old uniforms, if going with the analogy - while supportive of new characters being created.
