I'm surprised Kate Leth hasn't been mentioned in Comicsgate until now. This chick has been LOLCOW material since the start of gamergate, when she'd sperg about it through terribly drawn webcomics. She's one of those hacks that Marvel hired because she was popular on Tumblr (always the best choice when you want to run your business into the ground). She looks and acts like all those other chubby rainbow haired chicks that claim to be bi despite only dating men, loves posting photos of her drinking, constantly sqwalks about "killing all men" (all while drooling over men), and makes sure that everyone knows that she doesn't care what everyone thinks about her....no, really, she doesn't, and here's a Twitter chain all about it you guise!

I don't know what's worse: that she bragged about fucking a married man while he was dying of cancer, or her run on Hellcat.

Bonus LOLs: she also started a group for women working in comic shops called "The Valkyries" (Kate wishes she was even 0.01% as badass as a valkyrie), which to the surprise of no one, imploded from constant infighting over who was the Most Triggered Of Them All.

I doubt that comics is a good way to get hired for movies or TV. Personally, I wouldn't hire anyone whose comic sells below expectations and is boring. I certainly wouldn't hire many of the artists, I'd rather take my chances with the local high school art club.

When you pull someone out of a lower class genre like mass media comics it's usually because they've succeeded above and beyond the limits of the genre. That you manage to fail even at schlock hackwork is not a plus.

Blake Northcott gave a good point about using comics as a first draft for movies, which i think leads to my point of Marvel becoming a movie / TV storyboarder

No wonder they shit all over their audience, when they think they deserve so much better. The fact is if you can't even please that relatively easy to please niche audience, why the fuck would anyone give you a chance at a larger one?

Also fuck these Canadians.

What a bitch. That second one wasn't to disparage her. It was clearly an affirmation. Like ' Oh wow you use a col-erase like all the other artists and that's cool'.

I honestly think they hear the cynical horribleness in their own soul whenever anyone speaks to them and misconstrue intent.

Actually it was a little worse than that. She basically got the job because she sucked up to Hawkeye writer at the time Matt Fraction by making comics/fanart of his work that she admitted were only to get his attention, got a job through Comics Alliance that hooked her up with jobs with Boom Studios, and then when it came to hire new people for Marvel the journalists as CA and Matt Fraction vouched for her.

Leth's career is the perfect example of everything wrong with the comic industry right now.

Plus people like tying this into the nuMarvel characters are testing grounds for recasting MCU roles but that raises questions about why couldn't they just....make their own without buying Marvel. If you're going to make Marvel without the Marvel characters then why wouldn't you just do that instead of spending over 4 billion for just the logo?

Same reason SJW Marvel is race and gender swapping existing characters instead of making new ones. Same reason comic book movies are in this constant cycle of "origin story movie, shitty sequels that eventually tank, reboot a few years later". Capeshit is completely creatively bankrupt and has been for decades.

SJW Marvel and CG isn't taken seriously because everyone and their pets know Marvel's just trying to forestall another market crash by defaming its customers, and it's all going to get rebooted and memory holed in a few years. This same shit happened back in the '90s before the crash, except last time it was all about replacing characters with GRIMDARK versions instead of pandersexual syncretic neo-pagan muslim mixed race troons with high-functioning exceptionalism.

The writing is already on the wall with Infinity War 2. They're going to hit the reset button, piss off people who don't read comics and see it coming a mile away, and "superhero movie fatigue" will be "proven" once and for all. Disney will run out actors' contracts with lower-budget movies with decreasing box office, and shelf the MCU for the five or ten years it takes for the stink of it to wear off.

You better believe I want to hear more about that...

Did you have info and archive links of those slapfight?
It's sound funny.

Here you go. It's a former Valkyrie member spilling the beans on 4chan, explaining that she left because it was becoming a hugbox and Kate was trying to use it as her personal army, among other things.

Look at the later point I made.
I could see Disney demanding more token characters and even downplaying the X-Men because of movie rights but the rest of it? Why would Disney specifically tell the writers to keep sperging about political issues or to strangle all their big IPs to get said token characters? I need more proof it isn't just writers being brain-dead.

Disney likes jerking off things, I can't see them going "Captain America? Oh yeah, we're never using him again once Chris Evans's contract expires. Just replace him with a crosseyed transgender hero and reveal Steve Rogers eats babies before he dies from tripping down the stairs."

Look at the later point I made.

I don't see Disney going that far. They're really good at dipping their toes in water and responding to audiences' requests about twenty years after the fact, but as a corporation they don't like making huge waves and are generally risk averse. I think they're letting Marvel Comics run wild since they bought the company to acquire the MCU, they probably expected it to run in the red in the first place, and to Disney it's a containment zone for the exceptional. If the backlash against SJW Marvel demonstrably starts hitting the MCU's bottom line Disney will probably step in, but at this point it'll be blamed on misogynist basement dwellers and superhero movie fatigue.

Replacing Steve Rogers with Sam Wilson as Captain America would be something I see them doing since it was a comic thing long before it would be a movie thing, but that's it. I think it would be a stupid move and they'd be better off in the long run retiring the character, and putting Anthony Mackie or Sebastian Stan in a solo series, but Disney's all about the cash and milking brands for everything they're worth so that'll never happen.

It hasn’t worked for Marvel because they constantly shit the bed with their self-inserts, but it actually worked for DC with ‘The Silencer’.
Silencer is part of the New Age of Heroes that DC rolled out after their pretty successful event DC METAL. The book is basically female John Wick with the power to make things silent. She makes a bubble in which sound/vibrations can’t escape, you could blow up a car in her bubble and those outside of the bubble wouldn’t even notice unless they’re looking straight at it. The books is actually interesting and I recommend reading it.

The character is already getting an appearance in the Green Arrow tv series:
'Arrow' Casts the Longbow Hunters for Season 7

07/21/2018

Arrow's season six finale introduced the Longbow Hunters as Ricardo Diaz's new associates and now at The CW show's San Diego Comic-Con panel fans found out exactly who is making up the new villainous team.

During the panel it was revealed that Red Dart, Kodiak, and The Silencer will be joining Ricardo Diaz (Kirk Acevedo) in terrorizing Star City while Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) spends time behind bars at Slabside Maximum Security Prison for crimes committed as Green Arrow. While each of the announced characters have DC Comics ties, only one of them is commonly associated with the Longbow Hunter team.

Red Dart, who will be played by Holly Elissa, first appeared as a member of the team in Green Arrow(Vol 5) #31 in 2014. The character, whose real name is unknown, is known for her use of trick darts and was part of The Longbow Hunters in comics.

Kodiak, played by Michael Jonsson, was the leader of Shield Clan, one of the eight Clans of The Outsiders. In comics, he had something called the Shield Totem, which granted its owner immortality and true enlightenment. Joining Kodiak and Red Dart, The Silence will be played by Miranda Edwards. In comics, The Silencer, aka Honor Guest, was Talia al Ghul's most trusted assassin. The association may be a hint that Diaz could have ties with Talia on Arrow as well, which could provide an opening for the return of Colton Haynes' Roy Harper.

As fans of the show may recall, Talia last appeared on Arrow during the season five finale on Lian Yu where she had sided with Adrian Chase. While her fate was left unknown following the island's explosion, last season during the episode "The Thanatos Guild" it was revealed that there are three previously unknown Lazarus Pits that former members of the League of Assasins had been trying to track down. If The Silencer has ties to Talia as she did in comics, it wouldn't be impossible that she has crossed paths with Roy, who left with Thea Queen (Willa Holland) to find and destroy those Lazarus Pits.
Exactly how The Longbow Hunters will factor in the upcoming season remains to be seen, but one thing that fans can expect is that the show will be facing a major shift, something that series star Stephen Amell is on board with.

"I think that’s one of the things I’m getting out of what they’ve planned for season seven – we’re not writing like we’re guaranteed something beyond this, because we’re not; nobody is." Amell said in a recent interview. "I want them to really push forward and take the fact we have a certain license and a certain respect from the fans to take some chances."

How does that work? Or obviously it doesn't, but how does anyone think that works? It's like trying to stop a boat from sinking by drilling even more holes in it.

Yeah forestall was a stupid way to put that. It's more like one last big cash-in before the market crashes anyways, because the sales boost from the MCU died off and Marvel doesn't have enough creativity left to stop a crash by making good comics. Even then they had to resort to basically extorting retailers and cooking the books to make themselves look good on paper, but the whistle got blown on that and now they're just fucked.

Customers don't have to be your audience anymore.

They have this idea that there's a huge pool of people that will love comics once they get queer and brown enough. It fits into their idea of turning Marvel into a "lifestyle brand" and that lifestyle is "woke consumer of Coke and movies."

"I hope to be very much like a lifestyle brand," Amanat said. "And also, the other big thing that's going to happen at Marvel is, I don't think it's going to be associated as a boy brand. Marvel has always been inclusive and I think it should be a place that anyone looks at that red logo and they realize, 'Oh yeah, that's just a really cool entertainment company.'"

Mindy Hamilton, Marvel Entertainment’s senior vice-president of global partnerships Mindy Hamilton says the move reflects how Marvel overall has evolved over the last few years.

“If you’re coming in, as a brand, you should not just come in around a big film release, there are many more ways to engage with our fanbase,” she says. “As we head more towards a lifestyle brand, how do we continue to best serve this ever-growing fanbase? And how do we help brands tap into that as well? So over the last nine months we’ve consolidated and reorganized the division to be able to work with any property or platform.”

Come for the Guardians of the Galaxy, stay for a custom comic, or exclusive San Diego Comic-Con event. “Now that we’ve consolidated the teams, the brands can see more clearly that they can work with us on an evergreen basis, making us a full service brand marketing partner,” says Hamilton. “The re-organization was to help us better work with brands, and at the end of the day, grow that side of the business. Over the next six to nine months, fans are going to see an aggressive increase in content, variety, and quality coming from Marvel digital.”

That means anything from new long-form content and series on Marvel.com, to more short-form stuff across social like Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook. If you want a peek into the future, to what Hamilton says the brand will be doing more of with marketers, look no further than Tony Stark’s fireplace.

Last year, Marvel worked with Coca-Cola on its Super Bowl ad featuring the Hulk and Ant-Man. It got a fans thumbs-up, so Coke came back asking what they could do for the holidays. The result was a series of videos, some more than an hour long, that let fans virtually warm themselves on the yule log in a variety of fun locales, including Stark’s apartment, Thor’s place, the Guardians spaceship, and more. “That was a surprise and delight situation, very different from what people might expect in a brand collaboration,” says Hamilton.

Nerd stuff going mainstream was a mistake.

Shit nobody in history has ever said for $1,000, Alex.

Nerd stuff going mainstream was a mistake.

It really opened up everything I love to the SJWs.

Video games, comic books, and programming should go back to being lonely male-centric time sinks. This new paradigm of "inclusivity" and
"diversity" has been a train wreck of epic proportions.

Get the troons out of my tunes.

Remember the cancelled Iceman and Wasp comics that were coming back with the exact same teams due to so much popular demand and billions in digital sales? Well it turns out that they're each getting FIVE issues. Yep that's right they were so popular that they get a whopping 5 issue run. Shows how much faith Marvel has in this, won't even commit to 6 issues.
