Considering that Rebirth was mostly Geoff Johns' brainchild, you'd think they would just sack Dan at last but somehow this led to him getting enough power back to get rid of what was working and go back to shit that failed miserably.

I guess this will be the new creative cycle for DC - Didio tanks the product with horrendous ideas and creative for 3-5 years, Johns comes in to fix things for a year, and then Didio comes back to fuck it up some more.

Nerd stuff going mainstream was a mistake.

While this Jim Jefferies hit piece has everyone butthurt; SJWs for not going hard enough and comicgators for Zach being a fool, i think it does show something. In one group we have someone extremely knowledgeable about comic books and cares about the medium and on the other side we have pop culture enthusiasts. They like the movies and hero designs so they can play pretend and dress like them - it makes them feel special and unique. Oh I'm sure that they like the idea of comic books, but don't want to actually read them.

Unfortunately this goes for everything that becomes pop culture / mainstream, you get posers they don't care about any of the source material. They only care about (insert medium) because that's what everyone is currently talking about and if you can't talk then you're outside the group and *gasp* unpopular. Just like the above article - anybody who reads comics knows that character deaths / universe collapsing doesn't mean shit and don't need grief counseling (excepting true autistics, not self diagnosis weirdos)

While terrible, I've always thought this was fairly on point

Frankly I think folks are overlooking the central underlying point here.

A bunch of no name fucking negative-number selling comic artists having a twitter fight with some random youtube sped with less than 100k subs was deemed such a massive issue by people behind the scenes that strings were pulled to get jim jeffries and comedy central to be brought in to try and take him out with an embarrasingly simpson esque edited hitpiece

The fact that connections were obviously pressed so damn hard for such a mindbendingly pathetic reason to such utterly miserable effect speaks volumes as to the situation these fucking people have made for themselves. Because out of touch execs are still under the impression that "pretending to be woke will get us gorrillions of tumblr demographic customers" you have random scrubmonkeys with zero fandom or status outside the cloistered world of woke-media-cliques having free reign of their bosses' and companys' connections to do nothing but extend their twitter tantrums to a new media by any means necessary.

What lifestyle? A year or two ago (summer) I would go to Walmart every few weeks, and they always had a clearance rack full of women's Christmas stock Marvel branded winter PJs and shirts, that didn't sell anything until they were literally $1-3 in August.

IMO the number of women who genuinely want Marvel superhero products are probably equal to or less than the number of fatties who buy rockabilly dresses, or neckbeards who bought steampunk shit when that was a thing. But no major brand of anything would burn down their whole existing industry to appeal to rockabilly fatties or steampunk neckbeards.
