Looks like Alterna might be the only Indie left in a few years if they're the only one standing up against the people demanding everyone attack their customers.

Their numbers should only pick up now that they'll filter out any creator stupid or damaged enough to not follow that very simple and reasonable code of conduct policy. (or rather, the stupid fuckers will now filter out themselves, since they'd rather virtue signal and attack a succesfull indie business rather than act like a normal decent human being and get a paying job at said company)

Admittedly, my knowledge of the comics indie scene is limited so yeah; I might have gone a bit too far in my prognostications. It seems to me most of the known indie companies are already infected, and when they get put on the spot by the comics meangirls-mafia for a "purity pledge of allegiance" like Alterna was, can they avoid folding?

I guess there are a bunch of really small indie companies that don't attract much attention and won't be forced to pick a side?

Every other genre in comics isn't experiencing it; that includes the traditional independent comic crowd (call it "alternative" or "underground," whatever) - and no wonder; superheroes are generally looked down upon in those quarters.

They'll be just fine no matter what happens to the Big Two.

IMO one part of the problem is those outside groups going "lol Superheroes are trash" and trying to morph them into whatever they were doing on the outside of the Big Two. We've had a handful of posts from indie creators who are far removed from it that jump on the train of hating the Big Two's audience for rejecting Riri Williams, Jane Foster, America Chavez, nu-Iceman, etc. usually under the argument of "creators should be able to do whatever they want!"

Who am I going to listen to? The straight while male that has bought my comics for 10-30 years or the lesbian Transgender danger hair that has never bought my comics and thinks superheroes should be used for political cheap shots? Pretty easy, whichever gives me more asspats and makes me look more virtuous. Who needs money, when you have virtue?
