Funny, but, yeah, the gag wore thin over a whole novel. Probably would have worked better as a GN, come to think of it. (I think the author is now dead, though.)

Apparently, he did. Was in his early 60s. I remember reading the first of these, with one of the stories being Lovecraftian. It had Isaac Azathoth in it.

He died of a heart attack hiking in Death Valley. If you have a heart condition, you should probably stay away from somewhere named Death Valley.

Really this is just the exact same line they used for GamerGate. "There's no cronyism in the industry! You are just all sexist/racists!" the thing is, the people actually believe it, and don't realize they are just being used to run interference.
It's become the go-to line for a lot of these people in an effort to change the subject of the discussion. Suddenly you are on the defensive to prove you aren't a Nazi.

Anyone who ended up following the major figures in GG that were in power positions when the first accusations of cronyism first went down can see the connections.

Leigh Alexander was head tech editor for Vice, TIME, and Gamasutra. Gamasutra also owned the Games Developer Conference, and Indiecade. Her previous employer was Kotaku, and she was on a first name basis with her old colleagues.

Indiecade was the independent games competition that awarded Zoe Quinn for Depression Quest.
Kotaku featured Zoe Quinn and Depression Quest in every article about Indiecade.
Zoe Quinns publicist was Maya Kramer, who worked for Silverstring Media.
Silverstring Medias heads included Anita Sarkeesian and Josh Mcintosh.

Those are just the obvious at a glance connections that existed in 2014.

Basically the whole anti-comicsgate thing is trying to draw you into a "we aren't racist" war. That way they deflect you all completely from trying to see who got the jobs they got and how, and who they work for. Once they have you talking about not being sexist/racist, they've got you where they want you.

The funny thing that listening to the EVS thing on Melissa Morgue, he said he had to adopt to look the comics gate label because no matter what he called the movement they would have said 'comicsgate' and he sees the name as an escape hatch where you can sell your book without weirdos and politics. In fact he doesn't want any political books. Another funny thing is that they've done everything the opposition said.

That's eventually what happened to GG six months in. Most people with a brain realized who the media was on the side of and left. The only people left were the ones thinking there were communists everywhere. In the same way the people that bought the media narrative that nazis are everywhere.

When really in the end, the whole thing was a smokescreen to protect corporations, and publications from critique over incestuous dealings, cronyism, and the possibility of raising awareness to the point where regulations might be put in, the greatest fear of businesses.

Once upon a time, in the year of our lord 2010, being a Nazi/Misogynist/Racist/-phobe meant something. Now its meaningless. Everyone knows its a pejorative to 'person who has politics I dislike'. No -phobe or accusations above are treated seriously by any normal person anymore.

The problem is these faggots don't believe language evolves without their input. Language is a living thing, much like humanity. Faggot used to mean bundle of sticks used to start a fire. Then it meant a gay man. Now it just means a stupid asshole you want to use for kindling 90% of the time. Those words being used so much to so many people when they generally applied to a minority made their meaning change.

I've said it before on this website. There was a great article that broke down how modern progressiveness, is different from leftism. In that these people rely on authority for social change. They can't do it themselves. If you say 'no', they have no means to do anything about you.

You generally are starting to see this. Normal people have had their fill. Even people disconnected from the internet and progressives in general have become tired of it. The alt-right likes to speak about 'degeneration of the west' and the 'fall of the west' but they're largely ignorant about how politics and social dominance in America go. You're allowed to remain dominant in the social sphere for only so long as the American people allow you to be. Unlike other countries, where the government has mechanisms in place to control the viewpoints of society, the American government generally has no such resources to do so. Which is why you see all these progressives calling for the government to embrace censorship and endorse big corporations, despite big corporations NEVER being a friend to the left. You've got conservatives now forced against corporations, because leftists no longer want to do so, because they want them to be the mechanism for social change. Of course, being pawns of globalist corporations means you're expendable. As conservatives found out. Note, this was UNTHINKABLE even as short back as 10-15 years ago.

Conservatives are poised against corporate bodies because they've actually felt that they're now larger and more influential than the government. You have fucking Tucker Carlson excoriating Amazon and Walmart for having their employees on Food stamps for fucks sake. Political and social winds in America are fickle and change. Everyone thought the religious right would be dominant forever. It died the worst death imaginable: Being ignored. That's the fate of the secular moral majority. Don't know what will replace it in the cultural zeitgeist. Hollywood has always been leftist, but that place is eating itself alive now and its overall influence is being diminished by their own hypocrisy. Progressivness has become an ouroboros, eating itself alive. Unlike the myth, however, there's only so much you can cannibalize before you finally fucking die.

I don't expect these people will go the way of the religious right: quietly and ignored. They are more than unhinged in their calls for political violence and I don't think they will tolerate losing cultural power well. We're dealing with adult children who have no coping mechanisms and no real sense of critical thought or even fucking reality itself.

The body positivity movement will die when that fat cunt on Cosmo gets diabetic neuropathy combined with arthritis and begins losing limbs and can no longer stand.
